The second Cap movie's core idea is that no matter what time period we're in, no matter what changes had to be made, some things had to be conserved. Cap destroyed the Insight HeliCarriers because they allowed America to bully the world instead of standing up for the little guy and be a fair counter to another bully. He also chose to stop fighting Bucky when he got the chance because while the dude's the Winter Soldier now, he still mattered as his best friend from long ago.

This was not only a good superhero movie, but it’s also a terrific stand-alone action/spy thriller. Even if you’re not into the Marvel comics, it’s accessible enough for the general audience to enjoy, and it’s a credit to the directors, screenwriters, impeccably cast actors, along with the stunts, production design and soundtrack that The Winter Soldier is so incredibly good, and helps to set the stage for Civil War.

Winter Soldier is not only the best movie in the MCU, it's the 3rd best superhero movie of all time. Only The Dark Knight and Logan beat it. That's it!! Love the spy thriller feel, Great pacing, great dialogue, Great villains, loads of intrigue, best score in the MCU, and it has the best action choreography of any movie in the MCU--only Netflix's Daredevil has better fight choreography.

I remember being blown away the first time I watched TWS, and honestly years later, re-watching a ton of MCU movies the past couple weeks, I've been struck even more by how superior I find it to the other entries to the universe. Even though there are other MCU films I really, truly love, that love is based more on finding them really fun and entertaining, whereas with TWS I find the story is so impressively told, with subversive thematic discussions that are emotionally resolved in very satisfying ways. Like, for example, one of my other favourite MCU films in Homecoming. I think it tells a thematically cohesive story about what it really means/takes to be a superhero in a great, emotionally-satisfying way, with rich and enjoyable characterization. That is more than most MCU films can say, imo. But something that elevates TWS way above even Homecoming for me is that the themes the film explores are frankly just most fascinating and politically/socially relevant than those discussed in most superhero films. I've found that pretty much every other MCU film that actually challenges itself in terms of the overarching themes fails in some aspect of storytelling/characterization so that the emotional pay-off and overall quality of the story is just lessened. I don't think there's another MCU film that manages to capture the rewarding character development with fascinating thematic discussions, all intertwined seamlessly with an exciting, well-paced plot.

Winter Soldier is good and comes second for me because Civil War is my all time most favorite and best MCU movie till date. The fact that a mere human i.e. Zemo, as an act of retribution used the Winter Soldier and made the Avengers face off against each other successfully and literally broke them apart when even Loki and Ultron couldn't do so before is the best thing that could ever happen in a superhero comic book movie.

This Is My Fav MCU Movie🤗

This movie was really realistic for a superhero movie. Chris Evans' character work was really great in this movie. I feel like he could easily do roles with more serious characters if he chose to. Man can do a speech.

I am really fond of the first Captain America as well. I just love the time-period and it sets up the character so well.

It really is the best MCU movie. Some people are pointing out videos that expose it's plot holes and issues, but virtually every MCU film from Iron Man to Endgame has a "Everything Wrong With ________" video that points out it's flaws. Why? Because you can do that with ANY film

Just rewatched this movie for the first time last night since seeing it in the theaters. And granted I really enjoyed it in the theaters too, this movie has always stuck out in my mind But I'm not a huge Marvel fan, that's not to say I don't enjoy these movies at all or that they don't have some of my favorite superheroes, I'm just not super invested into the MCU But I always thought this was one of the more interesting superhero movies, never mind possibly the most interesting MCU movie just because... Well it's so different All of my favorite Marvel movies are Spider-Man movies, because he is my favorite Marvel character. Just behind that would be the X-Men and the Hulk. However if I put aside my character preference biases, I always come back to thinking that this is the best Marvel movie. It's just well paced, well written, well directed, and feels like an enticing spy thriller rather than a bombastic superhero movie. And that doesn't even mean it doesn't have its over the top comic book / superheroes sequences. They're just not overdone for 2 and 1/2 hours the way so many others are. Rewatching this movie, even though I know who lives and who dies, it's still effective in making me feel dread. I feel worried for characters even though I already know their fate just because the scenes are that well done. Things feel high stakes and so many scenes have such a perfect build up. Key example being the elevator fight.

This movie is still the best MCU movie and I don't think they can ever top it. The only thing I disagree with is the first point, Steve Rogers was always cool

Watch S/K video. Winter Soldier has a lot of issues.

This movie is really enjoyable and scary as Steve Rogers and his crew are being hunted down wherever they go. This makes it very dreadful as they have pretty much nowhere to go. There are also good emotional bits and Steve Rogers character really shines here. However, this movie has a lot of plot holes and characters making decisions that make no sense or are stupid that hold it back. Like popular example, where are the other avengers? Why only captain America and black widow?
