Why Camulus Left Steve Bacic UNSATISFIED (Dial the Gate)
Ойын-сауық
ALTHOUGH HE HAD PREVIOUSLY appeared on SG-1 (as SG team leader Major Coburn), veteran Vancouver actor Steve Bacic really made an impression when he returned to the show in its eighth season - tearing up the screen as the Goa'uld System Lord Camulus. This was the System Lords at the nadir of their galactic power, turning to an upstart Earth for help as both Baal and the Replicators ran roughshod over them ("New Order").
In this conversation with "Dial the Gate" Steve remembers his all-too-fleeting appearances on STARGATE SG-1, and how he would have loved to play that character more. He also talks about finding a way to connect with his character on a personal level, and reveals his approach to playing a villain who had to pretend to have more power than he did. Steve also reflects on his working relationship with fellow Goa'uld System Lord Cliff Simon, who was tragically killed in 2021.
This clip is from Dial the Gate's full-length, 1-hour conversation with Steve. Watch the full interview here: • 195: Steve Bacic, Mult...

my favorite part about Camulus was that (ZERO offense to the other actors, they all did 10/10 jobs) he just FELT like he was being played by a decent actor trying his VERY best to be a very believable round and detailed Villain. I always felt that "boy that camulus actor was putting on his A game jeez"
Steve Bacic hasn't aged at all! Wow! 😅 I totally understand the "scab" analogy. I wanted more of Steve as Camulus. He was intriguing. He stood out the first time I ever watched the show. I think it's correct to believe that the character had further potential.

Yeah Steve brought a lot of colorful flavor to the show. It was very thought out that he should be added. And to be honest I didn't like his character's arc at first but maybe it was cause I was intrigued by others arcs I didn't give him the credit he so rightfully deserves. And I believe that's how a lot of actors who aren't part the big 400 roaster of story individuals from season 1-10 fell short in major(to minor) places while others continued to shine through. Anyways Steve thank you for all you my dude it was a joyful having you along the series and it was a interesting fun yet challenging part of my teenage childhood and I'll always love watching every episode you are in and/or working behind the scenes for others. Thank you so much for your years of fantastic workmanship.
I'm rewatching SG and a lot of the supporting cast are incredible
I about fell out of my chair when Richard Dean Anderson called him Camelass!! 😂
Interesting interview. Crazy how you get all these people on and they're actually willing to talk about Stargate. Something they did like 2 decades ago.

i shocked to to be honest. i mean i sure they know what they are comin to talk about mostly. so i assume hard part is ofc just getting the sitdown. that said they can do it at home etc. helps a lot too.
You can totally see the influence of his Croatian ancestry, the DNA doesn't lie, he hasn't aged a bit and still looks fantastic even as he grows older😄
Yeah I definitely wanted to see more of that character too
“ you can take the fight to the enemy “
The perils of making a show as you go along is a lot of talent and stories get wasted or ruined. I would have liked Amatarasu to be bigger, maybe have a Shiva somewhere too, get a lot more history and culture, but knowing the show and the times back then, it would have likely been a little uh... problematic lol I can't help but think if they made SG1 again, a 10 year plan, with plots and stuff written beforehand would be epic. It could be a really cool family adventure show, with educational elements and ethical lessons, maybe even some criticism of US imperialism and such (though if the show worked with the US forces as SG1 did, the military writes out any criticism). I don't know, maybe I should just write fanfiction or something lol

US Imperialism....hahaha. You should read different books. The ones you are reading now are clouding your mind.

@@satyasyasatyasya5746 Probably not trolling. It's just that the books they were reading were clouding their mind.
Steve Bacic didn't get the chance to REALLY sink his teeth into the role. A shame really. Still, he was entertaining. He's a great actor
I remember thinking it would be cool for Camulus to actually join SG1 as a team member. Not sure how that would work, maybe to help fight the Ori?
does this guy age? immoratal?
Any updates on that Amazon Prime Stargate series?
This video's cover image made me think it would be about the actress who played Amaterasu. I would worship her, no Kree required!
cammy! under-utilized :)
He and Rush should go bowling 😅
Lord Zipacna was the most vile goowahwoo. Kevin Durand. Anywho..
