Many of the apartments that you find on Craig's list, charge a broker's fee.

One point to add: I believe, typically you pay one month of rent for a broker fee whether you hire your own broker or not. If you do, half goes to your agent and the other to the landlord's, and otherwise all goes to the landlord's. So it's kinda better to hire an agent since it doesn't increase the cost, unless you rent a place with no broker fee.

are you serious? most states housing rentals do not require broker fees to their tenants.

Your channel is super helpful! I’m just got accepted into BU on a scholarship, and I found out last week. I pretty much have 2 weeks to pack up my life and leave CA before classes start in… like 2 weeks. Your channel has dramatically helped me as I browse the FB marketplace and Craigslist. I thought it was crazy expensive here in the SF Bay Area, and I sure was wrong as I’m discovering these prices for Boston… especially this damn broker fee!!😩

Congrats on getting in to BU! That’s a tough school to get accepted. Super happy to hear that this has been helpful for you! Best of luck on your move, just let me know if you have questions about the area. Unrelated: BU hockey games are a blast.

God bless your channel man, I wish you well for your good service. Also had no idea about vetoing a bill against broker fees but makes sense after seeing how his offspring got away with groping a flight attendant and gloating to her face about it.

Yeah after recording I realized it might have just gone unaddressed instead of being vetoed… but there at least was a bill there to get rid of them.

You're clueless about how the broker fee works. It's not kept by a single agent; rather, it's split between two brokers and two agencies. Brokers make very little money from rentals, and they have to pay exorbitant fees to brokerages, multiple listing services, and more. You have absolutely no understanding of what brokers do. If a broker has to show a rental property to ten potential tenants, it can take 20-30 hours of their time, not including time spent setting up the rental, communicating with the landlord, and so on. How cheap and clueless do you have to be to think that a rental agent doesn't deserve a few hundred dollars to cover the effort and time they put into getting a tenant into a property?

@@tallwaters9708 How can you be such an ignorant moron? France, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom all have commissions similar to Boston. In Germany, it is paid by the landlord who basically charges the tenant higher rent to cover his payment to an agent. Either way, the cost is always passed to a tenant. Only a complete idiot does not understand that either way it comes out of the tenant's pocket.

@@Ben-tt3cg Split 3000 between 2 brokers and 2 agencies and your brokers ends up with like 600 from your transaction. How much time did he spend helping you? You really think he got rich from making 600 dollars? How many rentals do you think an agent has to do to earn a living?
