They are investing in future profits. If there is no profit CVC will lose money and try to sell their stake. If they make money they will continue to invest. CVC wants a long term contract because they believe the XII will be profitable.

The following year is a "new" year and a "new" calculation. ~20% of $750mm (however likely/unlikely) in any given year =$150mm payout for that given year. These annual calculations in perpetuity (equity-like) or for a pre-determined period of time as defined by the credit agreement (contract), which may be similar to preferred stock (higher on the payout order [seniority]) or debt (lower on the payout order [higher on the insolvency pecking order, although the aforementioned revenue streams would probably be bankruptcy-remote]). These are likely the details now being discussed with CVC / presented to university presidents. The angel is in the payout, the devil in the detail.

Remember, most of the B12 schools are public institutions. Outside the schools athletic department budget. Can't foreclose on the school property.

I think that every team in the B12 would be happy to rest their future success on their W-L going forward. What we DON'T want is our future success to be determined by the BS politics of the SEC and B10 trying to rewrite the rules to lockout their competition.

Because they are competing with high schools on Thursday and Friday nights?

I’m curious how without saban the SEC viewership does. I’m not saying they’ll tank but I think saban and bama was such an appeal that isn’t there. Deboer isn’t gonna do it, I don’t think Kirby has the same appeal

More intense than 3A high school football. Just because there will be parity doesnt mean the games will be intense, itll just be shitty football

This is a joke, right? Anyone who has watched a SEC football game knows that there are no other teams that play with any more intensity than SEC teams.

@@TexasFootballChannel, last year Baylor's record was 3-9. Something tells me they aren't gonna be tearing up the Big 12 conference this season, same thing with the other teams. Utah on the other hand is gonna run though the Big 12.
