The build up and first quarter or so of K-State-WVU in 2012 was an amazing atmosphere. Was also there for a night game in 2014 when K-State played there but it was like -15 wind chill so that did put a damper on things

Yeah I'd stick Tech in A tier. We know the record hasn't been great, but it's not because the crowds have been bad. Minus a couple of Matt Wells years, the fans have shown up and sold out season tickets consistently. I might also put Iowa St in S Tier. Same deal as Tech, the record isn't great but their fan support is fantastic.

There is a clear division between S-tier and A-tier. OSU and Utah have great home field advantages despite 50,000+ seat stadiums. They have winning cultures and unlike other places it doesn't matter if you're playing them at night, homecoming, etc. Odds are that you'll lose, statistically. Nobody else is winning 80%+ home games.

This is going to be one for the books, but I would put BYU in the “S” category. When that team is right, it is a hard place to play. Have very little experience with other stadiums in the Big 12, and I’m sure they are good, but the Utah BYU games down South are rocking affairs. Utah’s tailgating is better but the stadium holds a lot of people with a large student section. Be interested in what other fans that their teams play there last year think.

8:59 I watched that game. Klein was bleeding from 3 places and kept pounding the rock. Dude is tough as nails and would not quit. Mad respect for him from this oSu alum. A knock I’ve often heard for BPS is the east/west orientation. As the campus grew it became impossible to orient it north/south so someone’s playing into the sun. Also the sidelines are frighteningly narrow. It puts the crowd right on top of the action, but I worry about player safety especially for visitors who are used to having more run-out room.

Jones Stadium in Lubbock is a Big 12 A-tier atmosphere and stadium, but had a D-tier team & program 2014-2021, so the home record sucked. But I don’t disagree with the placement until the record reflects the atmosphere/decibels, and I think that’s coming. (Heck, McGuire era Tech is 10-3 at home already.) Also fun fact: at 3,250 ft, it’s only about 1400 ft lower than Rice-Eccles

Make KU D-tier if you like. Obviously, until the last couple years it had been since 2009 that they put a product on the field worth supporting. However, IF you were making a grade based on what KUis playing in this year, its going to be an A and there won't be a question. Two sell outs at Sporting Park and 4 games at Arrowhead with more than 50K in attendance and some world class tailgating. Its going to be EPIC.

It really was just basically by default I had to put them there for now. If there was a N/A tier, that would be more appropriate. Wow, I agree. I was also on the border with WVU to the S tier. Their record hinders them even though they punch over their weight at home. In fact, I think that's a factor that people lose track of: does home field help them over-perform? I know that it's true for the Mountaineers. K-State, absolutely. Utah, yes. OSU, yes. I would also consider BYU, just from all of their games I have watched, it makes a difference. Also, this isn''t just home record, it's how much better does the team play than their actual ability. I think that it's important for ISU, BYU, WVU, UU, OSU, and K-State.

ESPN and Fox were there for Prime, not the fans. One season of Prime is not enough to make you deserving of being in one of the top tiers, my friend. Iowa State fans supported a football program about as bad as Colorado pre-Prime for years. There are levels to this.

@@JohnKurtzShowits all good, every league needs a villain whether that title is deserved or not. As a Utah fan I totally recognize that we have a very loud, arrogant and sometimes irrational few on social media but I assure you most Utah fans don't feel that way and certainly not our football team and coaching staff. IMHO I don't think BIG12 fans understand how much Utah wanted the PAC to survive so our relationships with the PAC schools wouldn't be severed. As research Universities we all worked very close together and the football rivalries that had developed were extremely important to us. Utah's first priority was to help save the PAC if possible, if that couldn't happen then find the best landing spot for our University and we were hoping to follow our rivals to the more lucrative conference the B1G and still maintain those relationships . No one can fault us for desiring that. The vast majority of Utah fans are grateful for the lifeline we received from the B12 and have the utmost respect for B12 Universities. We're excited for the upcoming football season, and no we don't think we're going to boat race the league. We're confident that we'll be in the hunt for the league championship but the smart ones aren't making any boasts or guarantees because the B12 is a very competitive league. Its not ego.

As someone who hasn’t missed a home game at Nippert in almost a decade that stadium deserves to be atleast A. It’s an insane environment when it’s sold out (which it normally is) and even though 42k doesn’t sound like a lot when you have that many packed into a stadium that is pretty much underground the noise level is crazy. Plus just game day experience is phenomenal with the options to hang out around campus or head downtown to the banks to party that’s only 5 minutes away.
