Why being alone doesn’t necessarily mean feeling lonely | Katherine May on Happy Place Podcast

Ойын-сауық

How often do you cultivate quiet moments that are just for you? Best-selling author Katherine May believes being alone doesn’t necessarily mean feeling lonely. In this chat, Fearne and Katherine talk about how nature retreats and blooms across the seasons, and why it might be helpful for us to think of each of our own years in a similar way.
Plus, they chat about why we find it harder to be wrong than we used to; how can we better cultivate community in order to keep being curious about different experiences and opinions? Katherine also talks about learning she’s autistic later in life.

I think we should follow the seasons in our behaviour. Winter is a quieter time, when certain animals hibernate and trees have a rest. We should be OK with mirroring that at times in our life.

Thank you very much for this conversation. Confirms much, learned, and smiled a lot as I’m nodding my head. I’ve got many thoughts about what was shared. Thanks again!

You are so right about people on Instagram and Facebook presenting an experience, rather than simply having an experience. Everyone presents an image to the world, to a certain extent, but I feel fortunate not feeling pressured into doing social media, and needing to photograph and package my life. I understand that you, Katherine and Fearne, need to keep your media profiles high and positive, but how would it be if occasionally you, for instance, did an Instagram post of a 'bad' day?

34:34 it's bizarre that people think things like this, would they be against someone calling themselves "blind" if they're blind? Factual descriptions aren't bad. It just shows the stigma that has been put on autism.

'with neurodivergence' oops. People struggle so much with grasping the concept of neurodiversity. Partly because the term has been missaprlpriated.
