    I think you did a great job on the T8 commentary and I actually enjoy the combination of an experienced commentator paired with a less experienced one (In terms of gameplay knowledge). For me, the less experienced commentator is a good way to put things in an easier to understand perspective for someone like me who is a more casual player. Feels like we're both learning at the same time.

    20:20 I think ideally commentary teams should be 1 nerd guy and 1 talker. Kinda like how WWE does (Though the FGC is so scared of admitting parallels that's been their primary viewership success) Ideally both should bounce off each other in a way that gives maximum entertainment.

    Because smash was never part of the FGC. They wanted to do their own thing. I run a local and it basically just became a smash club. Nobody wanted to run trad FGC games other than the old heads like me. I converted a couple of people from melee, but not enough for it to matter.

    The barrier of entry compared to smash, on top of the competition being what it is does it for me. The last fighter I played for any considerable length of time was baby's first FG aka MK9, and even then I pretty much just picked up scorpions basic kit, mashed at close range and hoped for the best. But the extended combos from these games are a thing of beauty and I'm just wondering how the developers incorporate so many different moves while avoiding infinite loops. The tekken characters are pretty crazy too, if only I had the nerve to get absolutely annihilated and pick myself up to do it again lul

    My first local they put me on stream and when I played like ass the commentator put a really good spin on it talking ‘bout “I’d like to see more consistent play from bro” instead of just pointing out my errors.

    I always like hearing your perspective from the commentators POV. Commentators aren't respected as much as I think they should be regardless of what game they play. I think the fact that you bring attention to it helps a lot because how many commentators are out there posting content? Of those commentators that ARE posting content, how many are out there shedding light on commentary topics? Very few. So thanks again TK. Love the Topic Talks whether it's regular or Gold Edition :) Keep it up.

    I watched a MainManSWE video on Kazuya when he got the smash trailer and he was suuuuuper harsh on the game. I don’t think the FGC respects smash regardless of who’s in our community. It’s really just a bonus for them if our community has problems.

I'm glad you have the fire again and are learning/growing with other scenes because I truly believe you're one of the greatest to ever do it, and more people deserve to hear you on the mic. That tweet that you (rightfully) got annoyed by was so bullshit lol. But I'm sure that tons of people out there, just like me, will be listening to you and catch that spark of love for the game and it'll make all the difference. You deserve all your flowers and I'm here for you TK. The grind never ends

    I usually comment on these to talk trash but fr, F*ck people who are talking about not wanting you on FGC commentary. You're hired because of your skillset and shouldn't be punished for transfering those skills to other games. Okay that was too serious, something something smash players picking up tekken to sidestep showers etc etc.

    What other types are there? Smash is a platform fighter, not a fighting game. Just like Naruto games aren't fighting games, but 3d brawlers. Smash is not a fighting game. Brawlhalla ain't a fighting game. Multiversus ain't a fighting game. They are fun, but they are not serious or fighting games. Its Like saying that dead by daylight is an fps.

    @jonteguy

    And you're perpetuating the hate by commenting shit like this. FGC is not hating, some people just didn't like it, much like *lots of people in Smash dislike their own casters for a multitude of reasons.* Whenever X is commentating just read the chat you'll see. Smash hates on smash commentary as well. You will not get away from X amount of people hating on X caster. It's really funny to me how TK talks about *one guy* in his video and you use the term "FGC", like he is the voice for all of the FGC. You're being extremely unfair and you don't even see it.

    @@anonwalkerr I just wanna say this evan guy does not speak for majority of the fgc. TNS hired TK because they know he does phenomenal work on the mic. This evan guys wants to gate keep which not cool and does not help the scene grow at all. Also smashers do get alot of hate and this guy is clearly part of problem.

  • @jonteguy

    @jonteguy

    @@anonwalkerr I don't disagree with that, generally speaking. But I don't think that applies here. Also you were extremely bad faith in your first comment though. One guy does not equal FGC. He gets hired for Top 8s because they know he's good. So how can you say the FGC is hating when they are hiring him? The FGC likes TK, trust me I've played Tekken since Tekken 5 and I've heard his name well before I started dabbling in Smash Ultimate. (I was pretty late to Smash)

    I think commentary needs a balance. If you have 2 people up there not knowing enough about the game it's a problem. If you have 2 people up there who knows all the frames and only talk about that and what combo could've or should've been done it's a problem. The best possible outcome is having one of each or two people who can do both well. The latter obviously being harder. I do agree with you though, I think energy and vibes are extremely important but I won't lie and say that knowledge isn't. It is, the question is, how much though? You obviously need to reach a certain level of knowledge before you can commentate X stage, imo. But I think you're already there honestly. I was just speaking generally.

    they really just wanna see the same two people commentate the game and its not fair to those who want to get into the scene. Smash is a fighting game just as much as Street Fighter 6 or Tekken 8 and the FGC as a whole needs to realize that. Smash isn't just a cash grab arena fighter lmao

    No lie the commentary thing is bs you should be able to pursue games you like you dont have to be a viewer of 10+ years to join. i do think peple should be able to speak properly if they are going to be on the mic though because its nicer on the ears and i can learn about stuff i diddnt know and actually know instead of just oooohh ahhhhhh. but also they are legit gatekeeping and thats wrong. Also the multiversus idk if im hyped its like we had the game just for them to get less development and lie about characters coming out, than just rip the game out from under us. i didnt like that and if i do play it again it better have some cool commercials cause at this point im not interested

    Smash killed itself with social justice and moral grandstanding. The community ate itself from the inside out. People get sick of political, social, and cultural commentary being forced onto them by man children. People like Visu who get caught cheating in charity events are the same ones preaching about morality. 😂
