I'm not gonna lie, I'm an Hbox fan, so I was a little hesitant to see how he'd handle covering the situation and whether he was just going to bash or not, but I honestly agree 100% with everything TK said - the situation was completely preventable from the start and I too would be beyond heated if he exposed himself to me while he was openly expressing symptoms of some kind of illness, whatever that may be. Sometimes harsh unapologetic opinions are exactly what people need to hear in order to not make the same mistakes.

I thought Junebug making top 16 with solo Doc just to DQ was going to be the thing people talked about this tourney (at least for Melee) but Hbox being sick and possibly disrupting the bracket as a result was so crazy. And that's not even mentioning Ult's grand finals lol

Damn, that shit with L4st is crazy, I sure as hell hope he hasn't been what is essentially rigging brackets for his coached players. Because that's not only a REALLY bad look for L4st, but a bad look for the players too, even if they have no hand in it. I mean, people have joked for a while that Leo's bracket runs seem really easy (granted, as the first seed, your first few matches, especially in pools, are going to be easier), but to me that was just because well... he is THAT good to make great players look like chumps. But man, now I'm doubting.

9:05 I think thats Technicals whole point- When you have prominent smash players & personalities supporting an "UnBan movement" of someone who has visual evidence of being weird with kids, but those same players being more concerned with keeping Tech away instead of walking back bandwagon tweets trying to reinstate a factually creepy, arguably perverse dude; you have a larger problem with the community and its leaders being afraid to take important action even when its uncomfortable (Or at least a problem with doing constant competent research on a topic to consistently keep an informed and accurate opinion or judgment). I think Tech exposed problems on a lot of levels, that people cant seem to deal with head on, simply by showing up to this tournament.

From what I can tell If it’s technicals related or HBox logic goes out the window if even the slightest hint or something being said about them in a way the fanboys don’t like.

I honestly feel like Colossel’s schedule is something to be taken notes off of. Forcing players through a 1028~ bracket to fight for top 12 on a single day sounds like hell. I’d rather have top 64 happen on a Sunday so the players can catch a breather and grant more people the opportunity to watch the qualifying matches for top 8. Even then, splitting up the top 12s to stream one after another is unfortunate for the spectators that come for one game specifically. I could still accept it with ult + melee but I ended up having to stay awake at night as an European spectator due to delays + the scheduling putting ultimate last. Even then, it also influences the competitors’ performance by having them play so late, VGBC’s scheduling has always felt odd. I understand they’re trying to show as much as possible, but I would appreciate a better environment for the competitors that helps them perform better and promote less abuse of lacking adaptability from tiredness due to the scheduling of VGBC when the point of competing is being able to give it your all to prove something, spectators are definitely going to enjoy it regardless due to upsets and hype sets.

God I love watching proto and Leo play eachother. But with how late the tournament went due to top 12, I never wanted a set to end faster. It was 2 am central when that shit ended. A friend and I were in a call watching top 4 and and as soon as proto won I turned off stream and left the call Almost immediately

It's entirely possible all that happened was that Zack received a legal threat for defamation. While Nairo's friends received the so called document explaining them what to say to the public. You have to consider that a lot of them were actual witnesses to Nairo's interactions with Zack.

The only point I'll make about Technicals: He apparently wore a disguise for days one and two, and on top of that, I didn't see anyone talk about him being on the global ban list until he was on stream.

Check the ban list document. The tweet that explains why he is banned or is justification for his ban is deleted XD. At this point they aren't trying to hide the double standard. Just put Tech up there just because he is being critical.

I think that TK is just a cool guy overall. :)

A couple of things on HBox: 1. He co-owns Liquid. He sponsors himself so I highly doubt he was TOLD to do anything. It would be a suggestion at best that he had full power over. 2. HBox not commentating on other blocks at this tournament is fair because of how tightly packed Saturday was. It went straight from round 1 pools to top 12 so there is NO TIME to schedule a block for him. He's been commentating for years and has also done commentary blocks before top 8 in other events, so I don't think he's clouting his way to the top at all. Other than that, it was a crappy thing to do and a huge middle finger to the TOs and players by trying to sound like he was doing a good deed by walking out after the damage had been done.

HBOX is one of the few people in the scene that have crossed over into being an influencer. That's like a ESPN journalist getting upset bcs LeBron got chose to be a host over them.

@@TKbreezy So I'm a little confused here. What necessary qualifications does HBox not have for commentating in top 8? He's been commentating in tournaments in both pools and top 8s for over a year now and I don't know how that isn't considered grinding. Your description of an unqualified person getting a commentator spot makes me think of someone like Trihex who actually should not have had any business commentating Smashcon Top 8 when he clearly knew nothing about the game competitively. He probably would have done a block with everyone else like other tournaments if the scheduling wasn't so abysmal with them packing everything from round 1 to top 12 for Melee AND Ultimate in one day. I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy here, I'm just wondering why this part of what happened with HBox was so focused on (outside of the fact that he tried giving his spot away without telling and discussing it with TOs, which is just disrespectful to the people who plan these events).

I think Tech’s goal with the videos with Anti, Sky, and Zero was to give them a platform back, not for them to return to Smash. They all started uploading again after Tech’s vids. I’m pretty sure he’s fully aware of them not wanting to go come back. In Nairo’s case, I’m not too sure what he’s doing. My guess is he’s trying to make a point for how the ban list is inconsistent seeing as though he was able to slip in to double down. The picture of Zack lying in Nairo's lap was a still image taken from a video showing the full thing. CaptainZack sits next to Nairo, slides over to him, lies down in his lap, and you can see Nairo visibly tenses up and is clearly uncomfortable in the situation. He didn't push Zack off because that was a normal thing for Zack to do. He was well known to be very touchy/clingy with anyone he considered a friend.

oh nah i like commentating with Hbox. I'm just stating the optics of him only doing top 8 with minimal game knowledge (or even just knowledge of his own players characters) don't look good to me. Thus why if he did literally ANY other block before top 8 i wouldn't have even said anything. I Don't even do just top 8 blocks and I've been doing pretty much every top at any tournament I've been at for the last 5ish years

I mean I side with Tech here. I left the smash community because of all this BS that goes, special treatment for community organizations and top players. I remember looking into the VIP room at Thunder Studios and seeing top community organizations, twitch thots, there friends, and smash investors and thinking to myself "hey isn't that room for the top 16 players in the tournament?". I go up to the guard at the door and ask him what's going on and he said "look man if you don't got money, if you don't know anyone or if you ain't in top 16 I can't let you in". I told him that there were people in there that weren't part of the tournament or were just commentors isnt that kind of unfair and he said "yea it is but, they know people man, plus its your money that supports them so if you don't like it then don't support it." After that interaction with the guard I stated to see how snobby and elitist the smash community is and after the Metoo stuff, and welcoming back Nairo. I left the community entirely because it shows TK you know it, I've seen you in those VIP rooms bringing your friends or a random girl in there... I've seen it all, I'm a SoCal native so I've bin to ALOT of 2GG tournaments. The thing with Nirao and Zack PEOPLE KNEW!...bruh I was a random no body but after Hyrule Saga my friend came up to after the event and said "Nirao and Zack are hooking up" and we were scrubs! So you want me too believe that no one outside of the smash elite (Nirao,Zack,tweek, and Samsora) didn't know or have a idea what was going on?

I am a big proto fan. Can anyone explain or link the origin of “iceman” roughly im guessing his ability to kill off stage. Thanks for the vid TK

He will stall between games or before games aka "ice" them out. MK Leo was playing hot and Proto would take years to play which frustrated Leo, I'd say.

Icing or benching a player... He's basically killing a player's momentum by stalling. This is the second time he did it to leo and it pretty much worked...

He takes kinda long breaks after games sometimes which people assume he does to “ice” or kill the momentum of a player that’s playing “hot” at the moment. We know proto does like to do mind games like that but Tbf it’s not really that egregious and I don’t think his opponents care

@@Cashmoneez Lol delusional take. You really think he isn't intentionally waiting several minutes, and taking breaks in between sets to not cool his opponent down? Why else would he be doing that exactly then? And how do you know that his opponents don't care? You even conceded that he likes to do mind games.

I rock with Tech but I wasn’t with this “Ban Nairo” sign. Beyond unnecessary. Also i feel you with people going straight to Twitter. Wtf did that do? NOTHING!!! Go to a TO so they can do sum about it. But nah, they decide to cry on Twitter🙄🙄

@@kahlilkaizen4037 Well by proxy of them not banning him they agree he should be unbanned. 2 different TO's made public statements unbanning him from all their tournaments as well as the fact that he was removed from the universal ban list. Also the fact that any TO in the smash community would undeniably know about the situation between Nairo and Zach considering it was absolutely massive news almost 2 years ago now.

I agree with Tkbreezy's take on Technicals little stunt. If he really was serious about his "activism" and protecting "kids" why not go to a TO? Even more so why not file a police report? The only reason it looks like that Technicals did it is for attention, which leads to more traction on his videos, his channels, which is money It's scummy either way

It’s really funny that Tech bashes Nairo but will make videos defending Zero and Sky. Makes no fucking sense to me. “This sex pest is actually not all that bad we should let him back, but this sex pest needs to be banned even tho he’s already effectively banned and officially banning him would do literally nothing. ^^^ lol TK was saying the people that didn’t like Technicals and SEEN him in the venue should have be more active and gone to security and made a report that Tech was there instead of just typing it out on Twitter. Not saying for Tech going to police and making that report. 🗿

What would filing a police report do when the issue was already resolved between both parties outside of court? And what good would going to the TO's do when multiple have already come out with statements that he is unbanned based on their reviews and the fact that Nairo got removed from the universal ban list? It clearly isn't just simply for attention towards himself, he is literally pioneering the movement to get Nairo banned because no one else is. Stunts like this that have undeniably brought massive attention to the 'movement' was clearly incredibly successful and a good way to move forward in trying to get him banned.

I think the point of getting Nairo banned is that it'll put more attention no how grossly mishandled these tournaments are. If someone got caught doing "that" twice and it took more than a few years to ban them it makes them look really bad

Yeah. Keep the pressure. Let's grow the team and start doing this on every stream we know nairo is watching. So we can all publicly embarrass the scene and organizers until the 30 page document is out for the public, or he is banned until the former happens

My problem with Tech is less with his individual opinions and arguments and more with his attitude and overall goal of his content. As in, It doesn't matter to me whether you make an argument to ban or unban Nairo, as long as that argument is consistent and constructive. I feel like Tech doesn't participate in constructive criticism, it seems like he just shits on opinions in the smash community for self promotion. Whether these opinions are solid or not doesn't really matter imo, his entire channel is in bad faith. It just seems like a dude who feels personally attacked by the community and therefore endlessly tries to find flaws in their ideology or opinions instead of just moving on like a healthy person would. It's blatantly obvious how he's willing to give certain people the benefit of the doubt but not others. I guess it just feels like the overall goal with his content isn't to help the community, but to say "I'm better than all these people in the Smash community so you should listen to me and not them" which purposefully leads to a cult of personality around the guy

It just sounds like you only read people's opinions about tech and not actually his own critcism. He's gone out of his way to defend Nairo before, but he drew the line at the hypocrisy at the warm welcome back into the community while Zero was thrown in the garbage, when what they both did were equally sketchy, if not more sketchy for Nairo. Unlike Zero, everyone warned Nairoby about Zack, they even publicly flirted, the age gap was worse, and they actually did it in person. Rape or not, Nairo was in a position of power, and he had all the warning signs about Zack, but it still happened. iirc it may have happened twice even.

@@Adizzyizzy I've seen all his videos. I think you're misunderstanding my argument here. I'm not criticizing Tech's personal stances or opinions on these subjects. I also personally don't think the Smash community itself handled the situation well. My problem with Tech is his content isn't intended to be constructive criticism, the presentation is mean spirited. And it's naiive to think Tech isn't using the drama to, at least in part promote himself...I mean because of this drama he's cultivated a community of very dedicated fans who stan him. He's not creating these videos purely out of the goodness of his heart to build a better smash community, if he was then his videos would be presented in a more empathetic way. I'm not trying to convince people tech is bad or there's no value in his work, I don't know the guy obviously and I think he has brought up some great points. These are just my overall thoughts from seeing all of his videos. If you like Tech, that's cool, as long as you recognize his bias and know that, just like any other creator on any platform, you shouldn't take their word as gospel and instead come up with your own independent conclusions. Tech isn't an expert at the end of the day, he's just a guy making videos promoting a narrative

@@terminalpreppie8439 no I dislike, tech, he's occasionally bigoted but will turn around and point at others for being bigots, and his trolling gets annoying and is obviously clout bait. But his argument with Nairo, Esam, Samsora, Jisu, Hax, Leffen, Sky, and Zero? Those check out. Its just that no one wants to believe it, because it's coming from Tech. Even though the proof that tech has, is coming from the perspective of other players, and the hard evidence that anyone could have found. Yet people will stay it's reframed
