When I started exercising again, I just kinda worked through it. It wasn't as bad as the first time I ever worked out, but I was like okay, I know from experience it gets worse if I stop exercising today to rest, so I will do light exercisis and then stretch when I am warmed up again. Also, warm-ups and cooldowns are VERY IMPORTANT EVERYONE!! Always warm up and cool down. Seriously, especially as a beginner, warm up before and stretch after a workout!

yep. When I workout and then immediately get in my car, the doms is always worse.
i think DOMS is really good in the beginning actually since it's positive feedback indicationg you did the exercise right.

I actually really miss DOMS. When I started working out 20 years ago my muscles would get so sore that I couldn't even lift my arms to touch my nose. Even after taking a decade or so off when I restarted my weight training I never got that same level of soreness again. These days it doesn't matter how hard I work or how hard I push myself in the gym, I never get DOMS. :(

Dude same. I’ve only been going regularly since December, but I really miss that feeling of being sore. Don’t get me wrong, the pump feels nice but something about being extremely sore after a hard workout just makes you feel like you’re progressing a lot.
@Not_Ciel

@@doraafelfedezoofisol it’s the same reason people like the feeling of the pump after working out. At least for me and the guy I go with, it makes you feel like you’re actually doing something.
I fully agree, i've been working out 5 times a week for the last 3 years and for example i hit triceps twice a week, but every time i try a new patter (overhead push with rope for instamce from last workout) i got so sore in the long head
Why do you sound like Fry from Futurama?? I can't unhear it lmao. I'm snickering writing this. Subscribed.
This is a super interesting phenomenon, we can have a lot of strength already, but if we perform a new exercise with a different movement pattern, boom! soreness 😅
Day 3 of DOMS here. I was literally crying on day 1 after working on my squats. Can barely walk up and down the stairs. Even sitting up & down of the toilet killing me. I practice Yoga for years, recently trying PoundFit for first time and hit it hard and now I dont wanna do PoundFit again. 😅

Take breaks. Don’t stress your body every single day. Take days off, with no exercise. sleep a lot and eat healthy
After not going to the gym simce covid and yesterday being my forst day back i feel this on so many levels😂
I switched to a total body calisthenics routine this week after mainly doing zone 2 cardio and weight training, and I feel like I got the crap beat out of me lol. A relatively recent podcast with Andrew Huberman and Andy Galpin noted that DOMS may be due to the immune response post-workout which leads to increased fluid and pressure on the sensory receptors surrounding the muscles. Andy notes that if it were truly just muscle tissue damage causing muscle pain/soreness, then we would expect to feel the DOMS soreness immediately rather than 24-48 hours later as with any other tissue damage. I'm paraphrasing, of course. A key takeaway though was that light exercise is helpful for relieving some DOMS soreness because it causes fluid and nutrients to flow more, and this helps with the pressure and the recovery process which both lend toward a reduction in DOMS. It is also why massage tends to alleviate soreness as well - the manual stimulation causes fluid & nutrient exchange. However, stretching a sore muscle was noted to be the exact opposite of helpful because of the stretch reflex of muscle fiber spindles.
Thank you for your video! I no longer get DOMS! I thought my workouts were no longer effective! I experience some tightness and very little soreness.
For me, it means I am doing the workout correctly on the areas I wanted to be working out. If it started soring in the wrong areas, then I know I did something wrong.
Today is supposed to be day two of working out but I can’t move at all

I'm going from home workouts to gym workouts so even though I'm not a beginner I'm getting DOMs really bad again cause pretty much every movement I'm doing is different
It's so frustrating to finally come back to exercising lol I lived the first 17 years of my life without ever being sedentary, but then I stopped for some years. At the time, I was so used to like, everything, that the most amount of time I'd ever be sore for was the day after the exercise, and never extending into the second day. Now when I come back to it I feel it for days on end lol I was always used to wait for it to chill a bit before I went at it again, but I'm realizing that if I am to do that right now, I might as well not even train at all
@SeboHyatt

yup. that's how that feels. honestly you're gonna have to probably go easier with your workouts if you're gonna try and avoid it. just to get back into the swing of things, then actually go all out the way you used to once your body realizes you want to commit.
I worked out two days ago and coincidentally i got sick! I am currently laying in bed with a sore body and a headache as well as the inability to fully extend my arm. I cant wait til i recover!
Hi, I started going to the gym in January, clearly a beginner. But what time frame will you stop (or I stop) bring a beginner? A year, 2? More?
I went to the gym twice last week and my chest has felt like its ripping apart every day since. I hate it but at the same time its a sign of progress, gotta work through it.

I have unbearable muscle soreness on my biceps , triceps, and chest… I cannot even drive or open a door or extend my muscles. I literally had to call off from work because I nearly cannot sleep at night! The DOMS I had when gyms opened mid-covid (2021) were the worst I ever had from the gym 😅 made the mistake of loading nearly as heave and as much volume as 1.5 yrs earlier Nothing beats the DOMS from running barefoot for the first time though. Even knowing I'd experience DOMS and taking it very easy (ran like 1-2k), I was still in pain for days 😆
I just started with my friends who are more experienced than me. I’ve been lifting until failure and my left arm is a lot weaker so it’s killing me rn lol
Been working out for a year now, and I'm starting not to feel the soreness after my workouts. It's kind of making me sad because I kind of liked the pain

So am i supposed to keep working out with the pain or rest until the pain goes?, what if it hurts really bad , still keep at it?
Can you do videos about ashwagandha and tongkat ali supplements?
So ,i have another issue ! I have been training for about 1.5 years now , and for me it started the same . I was experiencing doms and than they happened less and less . But out of no where 1 year in to the gym , doing the same exorcises that i always did i was starting to get very sore , and could not do ppl anymore , since i would be sore the entire week. So i increased the intensity and halfed the volume , and i was fine , but for 3 months now , doms came back and im still doing the same exercises . I am so sore that i cant train a mouscle more than once a week . Should i listen to my body and only train once a week , or should i try to push through the sorness , for sometime , so my body gets used to training more often ?
Idk why, but it feels nice for me. It's sore and it feels kinda ticklish. And on legs, it's just funny about the pain

Ive got doms real bad right now! Can barely lift my arms above my chest 😂 Question to the gym bros - do i continue to work through the pain, or should i give that muscle set (chest and tris) a rest and work on another muscle group whilst i recover?
The worst is when you experience D.O.M.S when you have to go to work and spend 8 hours of your day Doing something you don’t want to do, but you can’t leave because you have bills to upkeep. I was so sore during my shift from my workout the day before. all day I felt like punching someone. Its like a sore itch that won’t go away. Very frustrating🙄
Tomorrow is day two of working out after a year of layoff and I literally can’t walk, sit, get back up, bent.. how I’m I supposed to keep pumping those muscle baybe 😫
Using machines that are not adjusted properly and static stretches gave me DOMs
Not a beginner but I still get real sore, especially during Winter
I remember I got DOMS for days after doing calf raises as a 15 year old
One was a beginner, still a beginner (referring to myself only lol), someone pls help, how do I use this machine
I partially disagree, having DOMS is a great indicator you had a good workout. The lack of DOMS does not mean you had a bad workout either. But nobody is going to get DOMS by sitting around, you only get it from putting in work
I started working out two days ago and my muscles are sore rn
It's not bad it's light soreness i just didn't know how many days to wait ion between lifting
DOMS are called muscle hangover in german, a way more funnier name :)
what's wrong with me that I enjoy the feeling of doms though? I typically will stretch the muscle more while experiencing doms than when not because it somehow feels good?
Unexpected!
I didn't experienced any muscle soreness or extreme pain in my body on the first day of gym is it wrong? I mean is it necessary to get soreness after first day of gym everybody was saying after first day your muscles will get sore but it didn't i need help
What if I can't keep up with the same number of sets of the exercise?
If you train a sore muscle will it grow?, or you need the muscle to fully recover before training it in order for it to grow?.
I'm suffering through DOMS atm. Can barely walk or sit down. 😣
Man i love DOMS ❤️
I didnt feel a lot of soreness. Barely any actually. Although my family is strong naturally without training. Is this just bc of genetics?
"I was never here" ;D

POV u just started working out and your calf’s and forearms are destroyed

I recently heard Andy Galpin suggest DOMS is more likely caused by localized inflammation (a good thing). If it was primarily muscle damage, wouldn't the pain start immediately after the exercise with no delay?
@PictureFit
Жыл бұрын
The answer is mostly, "we don't know for sure." It is true that local inflammation occur. This is in response to exercise-induced muscle damage, and not necessarily the cause of DOMS. However, inflammation is very important in recovery and subsequent adaptation/growth.
But why I enjoy DOMS , Like the soreness after Legs workout feels good..
Aww... I was looking forward to learning the science behind it. Anyone know?
@PictureFit
Жыл бұрын
I kept it simple, but it all starts with exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD). Exercise itself can disrupt muscle fiber structures, leading to tears, CA2 leakage, and even fiber cell death which are repaired and improved during recovery. The only issue though is that these are largely theories. There's no currently no unified theory on how EIMD and DOMS work.
Talk to a doctor is always a great advice, but what do people from the USA do? Most of the world when in doubt just go to a doctor, but in the USA it is unnafordable, isn't it? I legitimately curious

I no longer feel this pain we call doms. Its just weakness leaving the body lil bro
Cool
Sooooo don't go to failure as a beginner, but when you really get into doing those exercises with ease then go to faliure? I gues I will do my exercises for like... one week? Then go to faliure. The fitness industry it feels super under developed for beginners. "Go to flaiure with your exercises!!" But for a beginner that is such a turn off with the doms staying for one week. No one speaks about fitness levels, and in my opinion a good fitness level is better initially than a healthy diet, because good fitness means that your more likely to exercise after recovery, and more likely for you to like exercising since it isn't super freaking difficult.
Ok but how am i supposed to go home i just cant walk.
