Wowww! Interesting! I'm just trying to find online an image of the old 1970s railroad signs that confused me as a kid ... always walked by those signs as a kid that basically & logically read "No Xing"! LOL.

One it traditional but lawful; the other is more modern but cautionary. They both work together to maximize safety at grade crossings. An adage is; when there’s a tie at the tracks…the car ALWAYS loses! ⚠️

In Indonesia we have a crossbuck at the gate and before the gate, but we also have a warning sign to warn every driver that they are approaching the crossing.

I'm just here for the animations at the end like usual!

That's like explaining why there's a "stop sign ahead" sign in front of the stop sign. Only difference is that these are required by law at all protected crossings and some unprotected crossings. So this does explain to me why some of these crossings will have "EXEMPT" beneath the white sign. Typically over lesser used crossings.

The EXEMPT signs are really a whole other video. What they mean, how they're implemented, and why they exist in the first place. All they really apply to, though, are vehicles that are expected to stop at all railroad crossings (e.g. gasoline trucks, school buses, etc.) The EXEMPT sign indicates such stops are not required if the crossing is clear with no trains approaching.

4:52 It isn't a matter of liking one sign more than another. They serve complimentary purposes. The Advance Warning sign is, essentially, a type of YIELD AHEAD sign. As you pointed out, the crossbuck essentially means YIELD (to trains). In addition to color standards, the shapes of the signs are also important. You may not have noticed, but governments installing STOP signs try to avoid placing a differently-shaped sign directly behind a STOP sign. This is because the shape of the STOP sign needs to stand out, even if it can't be read. You can still tell it's a STOP sign because it's an octagon. There's an informal correlation with the number of sides of sign and its representative danger level. With a few exceptions, the more sides, the more danger. Most signs have 4 sides. School crossing signs have 5 sides. Stop signs have 8 sides. Crossbucks have, basically, 12 sides. Railroad crossing Advance Warning signs, being round, have infinite sides.

Well in Germany there was a train Bus witch could Drive on Rods and Rails. This train Bus Looks Very funky
