Pastels maybe trendy, but Red is always iconic❤
For odia yellow is the bridal color traditionally. Nowadays not many wear yellow. Mostly red or something more mainstream. I wanted to wear a yellow saree with the kunkuma( Bengali bridal chandan bindi design. Yes we have that also in our tradition ). Not many brides are wearing alta now. I want to add that also. Mehendi is good but alta is love. In one word I want to be ready as an odia bride. It's in trend or not, doesn't matter.

Exactly my thoughts Red is just a lot more than colours,it's an emotion.
It's not about red or pastels. Pastels work for North Indian style weddings that mostly go viral on social media, plus this weddings happen at morning or day mainly so it adds to romance and all. But for eastern brides it's mainly night wedding, and dark colour look better at night plus dark colour compliments most dusky or brown skintone. Most Bollywood actress picture here are not very brown or dusky, I think it all comes too what colour looks the best on your skintone. Red is a vivacious colour and a powerful colour, I think no matter what the trend nowadays maybe, a woman wearing red makes a timeless bride. Trends keep changing, elegance and beauty that red adds is evident on the wedding lehangas from Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor. Edit: With over 50 comments by users bashing me for being clueless about north Indian wedding, I will like to say I wrote my comments based on the north Indian wedding that go viral on social media and the ones that this video was mentioning which all mainly took place in day time. My comment was more about the choice of colours of wedding wear and why choosing pastel colour isn't for everyone no matter it being on trend. I still stand by my comments simply because colour theory is legit and most celebs and fashion enthusiasts get it done and dress accordingly ☮️

Maybe celebrity North Indian weddings occur during daytime but most normal North Indian weddings usually occur at night and it all depends on Muhurat (astrological auspicious time). South India muhurutham usually is in the morning. There is no color coding mostly. Some have white or cream color requirement. But usually other than black any color is ok. But this varies from region to region. People may may changed this to suit their present time needs but it is still not the way you have described. Traditions don’t care whether the bride is dusky or fair! 😂😂😂
My north indian heart goes with red with heavy embroidery ❤🥰
Red for bride anytime...thats evergreen.
As an East Bengali girl, I would always choose red and golden for bridal party. Pastel may be chosen for reception party.

i think Red colour stands out more than any other colur in langhas but iike i like red with combinations like bright dark greens or dull gold ir bright yellows with tefs as well as bright purples with reds all these colurs stands out more on the brides .so my favourite is Red with other light dark co.bunations .
You're completely right! Pastels can be styled again for any other occasions, what's the use of your wedding outfit on which you spent so much if you can't wear it again? No matter what colour or pattern you choose it Remeber that you can use it after your wedding for other occasions as well.

Think we give these Bullywood brides too much importance. Women used to wear all kinds of colours as bridal wear, not just red. Bharat is very diverse & we have all kinds of colours. In my life, I have hardly seen red coloured sarees or ghaghara worn by Hindu brides, even though Red is considered auspicious in Hindu traditions. Only in Bullywood movies the quintessential brides wore red. Bullywood doesn’t own Pantone’s gamut or the fashion industry. My mom, nani, aunties said we didn’t have choice of colour, jo mil Gaya pahen lo, Bullywood jaise koi ameer nahi ki sirf rekha wala red hi chahiye.

Nothing is more romantic than red. Also, at times more than trends its important to follow the culture. Pastels are fine but whites/off whites for brides in North is not acceptable for certain reasons.
Ig you aren't aware of all the parts of the country In the Northeastern parts , especially in Assam ( as I'm from here) and even the rest of the states , bridal attires have very mild and utopian colours radiating so much of soft and tender vibes. In Assam the bridal Mekhela Sador is made of pure silk with golden threadworks So simple and yet so magistic and elegant!!

In all these attires bride looks good. But, general public has to be told who the bride is. She is not easily identified in crowd. “When a bride wears red, then she looks way more traditional “ thus easy to identify. Tradition of red dress for an Indian bride is everlasting… Rest are just trends and will fade with time..
It's not about colors.. It's about the wish of bride. Whatever she wishes, she should get that. After all it's once in a lifetime event (mostly)
Definitely team red. They are vibrant and give festive and celebration look. Pastel colours are somber and look good in serious or pleasant situations
Team red but I am okay with its shades and tints like maroon, magenta, orange, brown and coral red. Even hot pink and bright purple look traditional and stunning. However it depends much on the fabric, style and embroidery than just colour. Because many traditional Maharashtrian weddings have green while Bihari weddings use yellow for their bridal dress and they look good as well. I think sap green with multicolored embroidery is also very popular now.
Red is an actual colour of bride❤
Anushka's lehenga was amazing
Assamese brides wear white for our main wedding function. Receptions are a colour of one's choice.
But I think as their skin tone is fairer than Indian brown skin tone so pastel colours going well for them Otherwise for other 75% Indian body colour primary colours are magic
I would prefer more of dark greens, purples, blues with a combination of turquoise, coral oranges or yellows. I would also prefer blacks and browns with a gold/silver work. In short I would prefer a contrast and would neither go for pastels nor for red. To me both are overrated.

I don't generally wear/like red much so red with golden embroidery and gold jewelry for me makes statement for brides. Bold eyes and maybe nude lips. First of all, India is so diverse culturally, that literally every state has unique and iconic bridal wear. Red lehenga or pastel lehenga or lehenga itself is not at all the representation of an Indian bride. So it's up to the bride to opt for what she's comfortable in, the venue, the lights, the time of the day along with her and her family's taste and budget.
For my wedding i will go for Red, for other's occasions may choose pastel shades... traditional look is always in tune❤️
Any colour can be worn if bride wants but I'll definitely say red is timeless and a bride in red is ❤
well what i think is in ancient days people were very rich and guests used wear flashy beautiful shimmered cloths in weddings👸...so i would be hard to recognise the bride🤷...so red colour was the most appropriate colour for the brides so they could be recognised immediately 💃as red has maximum speed and least scattered colour...and they would stand out among the other people....even now my mother tells me to not wear red colour lehengas or else i'll look like a bride😂....but i thing people's perception about red are changing💁
In some region of uttar pradesh and bihar, The bride always wears yellow saree while pheras. But for jay mala bride can wear any color lehenga( except black)
Red ❤️
No color can replace the red....it gives you bridal feeling....on my wedding I will wear red saaree

Red is best... katrina and deepika looked drop dead gorgeous. I would rather keep the pastels for wearing during brother/cousins wedding 😂
Red screams bride, like I can choose to wear a pastel lehngha to other weddings but red is so much more fitting for a bride.
team red for sure. although many cultures have forgone the traditional red for a white wedding or light pastels, red used to be considered the supreme color for brides in most places in asia. not everywhere, but it was a lucky and auspicious color for brides and so when i think of a proper wedding dress, i see red. pink is pretty but you just don't look like a bride. it's just another dress. but you do you still. it's just my preference.
