Good vid! I think a villain can still be a straight up villain even if they believe their actions are justified, or the audience thinks they’re sympathetic. But perhaps that simply makes them an antagonist? An alternate kind of anti-villains are the ones who are *actually* justified by the narrative, but the protagonist is still in opposition. When the pov character finds themself on the other side of some other hero’s story.

I find a far better anti villain (to the point i can only call him an antagonist, not villain) is Final Fantasy XIV's Emet-Selch. He doesn't just tell you about everything that he has gone through and his grief and loss, he SHOWS you what he lost.

There are quite a good number of an Anti-Villains, may surely not this many, but still a good way to look into things from other perspective. 1) Megamind - Megamind who's simply being an Anti-Villain, is a protagonist. It's one of the rare occasions, where Anti-Villain plays main role. Megamind simply agrees to play the role of a Villian for the whole city, and himself. And the only person who fills some of his desires, is Metroman. Metroman where actually not a good kid in the beginning. Regargless for how many things that happens to Megamind, he's still a person who didin't took a single innocent life. 2) John Silver from Treasure Planet - Even benig one of the most classic villains. John Silver appeared to be a great Anti-Villain with moral compass. When he decided to train and help Jim, he didin't noticed how close he became with that kid. Literally hesitant for using any weapons, that can take lifes. 3) Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Dmitri and Edelgard. These two while before timeskip were normal students. While after, Dimitri become's a monster who will seek to kill Edelgard, ignoring all sense and logic. Edelgard believes that the false gods (Such as Sothis or related kins of her) should disperse. Only humans have the right to do things the right way. Despite her ambitions, whatever right or wrong, the battlefield decide who's the victor. However, one things is doesn't matter who's right, both Edelgard and Dimitri are wrong with the goal they're follow. 4) Heihachi Mishima - One of the Mishima clans, who's goal was to kill his son, who had the Devil Genes. Most fans sees him as the greater evil. While in Tekken 7 it was obvious, he had to make choices. Later, Heihachi's son became a greater evil, becoming the Devil - Literally. Heihachi tried to get rid of Devil, who was his son.

it's just like antihero but it's a secondary character and not the protagonist.
