I am a 19 years old Canadian. A year ago I discovered this channel as an evangelical Lutheran, seeing it as a lifeboat for Christian apologetics. Fast forward, I just went to my first Orthodox liturgy this Sunday at my local Serbian parish, and am fully convinced that Orthodoxy is the truest Apostolic faith. God bless

Born and raised protestant, eventually got into new age beliefs and fell into agnosticism. Was having trouble with addictions. I started looking into the history of Christianity further after I started watching online religious debates. This led me to Orthodox Christianity. The fullness of the faith still amazes me to this day when compared to my protestant church. One night, I did the Jesus Prayer with all my heart until tears were flowing from me. That's when I felt the Holy Spirit convict me, it told me very powerfully what I was doing wrong and what I must do to fix things. It was an experience like nothing I've had before, I've felt guilt and my conscience advising me against things in the past, but this was like a super-conscience that was separate from me. I listened to it and was able to break my addiction into a thousand pieces with the grace of the Lord. I'm in the process of becoming a catechumen. Jesus Christ is my lord and Savior.

@@matrixlone Believe what you want, I would never dishonor the Lord by using his name to lie, I don't need to lie. I attended a Baptist church. It did not fulfill my spiritual appetite. I didn't like that the pastor only seemed to take an interest in me because I can play guitar and they needed me for band. While I loved singing about the Lord and the people in the congregation, I didn't feel like I was making any spiritual progress. I gave up. I got into all sorts of nonsense after that - demiurge, Gnosticism, Advaita, whatever conspiracy theories I found on image sharing websites. I accrued hundreds of books on these subjects over the years. While all of these things made sense to me on an intellectual level there was no change in my behavior. I would watch religious debates online and became fascinated by the differences in Christianity. Once I understood how vastly different varying branches of Christianity are, I dove in. I absolutely do not think that the Pope is infallible, so Catholicism is out. The arguments for the Solas are weak when examined thoroughly. Then it came down to Oriental and Eastern Orthodox churches. I got a copy of the Orthodox Study Bible and Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future by Father Seraphim Rose. I began to realize the fullness of the faith and how my previous understanding of Christianity was so flawed and shallow. I had to unlearn my previous conceptions of prayer and worship. I started feeling a difference shortly after I began making the sign of the cross regularly. I gave the Jesus Prayer a shot in a moment of desperation and I stayed with it. I swear on my soul and all that is good in the world, I had an experience that, although I can explain in words, I will never ever be able to capture the emotion or intensity of it. It has transformed me in so many ways and I'm so excited to serve and worship the Lord for the rest of my life, in every breath.

I came in with my wife and we have four adult children who all serve God with their whole hearts in the Orthodox Church . Look forward , never ever turn back- you won’t be disappointed . It’s getting crazy out there and the ark of the church will keep you safe like you can’t believe Lord have mercy on you (& me!)

Studied church history. Went to latin mass. Went to eastern cathoic churches. Got engaged with my girlfriend. Realized I was never confirmed. Visited an orthodoxy church with my wife. And finally got chrismated and became a regular parishioner in Orthodoxy. CRISTOS ANESTI.

I was born a nondenominational Protestant in the House Church movement. Me and my brothers were each given a Bible and rather broadly told to read it and pray. We prayed at meal times and before bed, but we didn't really have a Christian community beyond our family, nor any real, cohesive Theology. Ironically, my journey to Orthodoxy started with a video game, called Crusader Kings 2! One of the major nations in the game was the Byzantine Empire, which I'd never heard of previously. Being generally interested in history, I started doing some research, and through that, I learned about Orthodoxy. I had researched churches before, but I'd never been convinced that any of them were the true faith. I simply ignored Catholicism, due to their inconsistency over whether or not the Pope is infallible and in what circumstances, (a decision I am still glad I made,) the Baptists seemed like they didn't really have a Theology at all beyond what their pastor decided, Seventh Day Adventists came across as worryingly cultish, etc. The Orthodox Church grasped me as I looked into it. For almost every question, there was a fair answer, and the Church's rooting in history fascinated me. Some time later, I learned that there was a small Greek Orthodox Church in my home town, and I felt a silent urge to go and attend a service, so I did, and I've never looked back. I was baptized in January this year, and although it wasn't an easy journey, (imagine my family's reaction!) I'm glad to say that I've found my way back to my spiritual home!

I'm a recent convert to Orthodoxy (thanks be to God) here in England. I do maintain that the Divine Liturgy should be in the vernacular. I really feel that the D.L. in Greek/Serbian/Russian etc when in the US, UK, New Zealand or Canada is a barrier to conversion. Praise God my Church is still receiving native British converts. Interested if others agree or not.

Here in the USA 🇺🇸 the parishes that have grown greatly are those friendly to non ethnic Orthodox and allow for greater or even complete use of English in Liturgy. From my personal experience many ethnic Orthodox tend to be fine with the English so as long some degree of their own cultural and linguistic heritage is preserved, whether it’s saying “Christos Anesti!” For the Greeks or perhaps serving Ukrainian based dishes during Coffee ☕️ hour (I belong to a Carpatho-Russian church) God bless friend ☦️ we shall see the West become Orthodox, AMEN

I attend a Greek parish and as a non-Greek I love the mix of both English and Greek. For one, I just followed the English in the Liturgy book when they did Greek parts and secondly, it made me feel a connection to the ancient church using a close version of the language of a lot of the early church Fathers. I also came into a predominant Greek church, and they have a decades long tradition of their culture and so I didn't mind being more so, entrenched into their culture and community. Just my experience. May God bless you.

You have to consider that such parishes are (often) primarily serving cultural enclaves (that in many cases started as groups of people who were fleeing Soviet/Islamist persecution), largely populated with people who have an insufficient grasp of the surrounding vernacular language. The Antiochian parish I attend is nearly entirely American converts, and has fairly marginal use of Arabic and Greek (essentially confined to the Trisagion hymn or Paschal troparion). On the other hand, I live not too far away from another Antiochian parish that has a significantly greater Arab immigrant population, and they reportedly have longer liturgies on account of simultaneously conducting liturgy in both English and Arabic. If there's not sufficient demand from the natives for Orthodoxy, it can't really be helped that those parishes don't preemptively cater to their linguistic needs.

I'm attending a Catholic Seminary and have met multiple Orthodox students, as there aren't many classical education opportunities in North America. It is, though, fun to be a student of Trent Horn. It certainly is fun to show the Eastern perspective of Aristotelian metaphysics. Though the Orthodox Church does have many problems in America, Jurisdiction hopping is indeed a problem. There are liberal parishes that are absolutely insane, and then you have the Orthodox Ethos crowd, which teaches against the councils of the Church - "Rebaptism" of converts. Listen to your Bishop kids, and if you don't, Lord, have mercy on your soul.

It is important to emphasize that the Serbian Orthodox Church is primarily a folk church and that it has accepted many folk holidays and customs from the pre-Christian era. This is not a bad thing, but on the contrary, there has been a wonderful symbiosis of the people and the church that has lasted for almost two thousand years.

Christos Anesti Bro ! I would like to talk about the founder of 'First Reich' , sponsor-founder of popism and 'filioque' and the wanna be eraser of 1000 years of Roman-Greek , and not Byzantine , Empire , history , and I think that is something that popists and protestants just can't stand , because history is with orthodoxy ... ☦☦☦ In the 8th century the king of the Franks Charlemagne (Charlemagne, 768-814) with the force of arms unites almost all the peoples of Western Europe and aspires to raise a new empire, claiming the name and the glory of the Roman Empire of the East. For this purpose, he methodically organizes the East-West conflict with a strategy that includes the following two strands: 1) Rejection of Orthodoxy and creation of a different Christianity, which will emphasize the cultural specificity of the new empire. This Frankish Christianity, designed by Charlemagne's advisers, is founded on the theological formulations of St. Augustine and expressed in new forms and types of church practice: Baptism by sprinkling, compulsory celibacy of the clergy, deprivation of the laity from the communion of the Chalice, *shaving of the clergy* etc. In the context of anti-orthodox tactics, the Frankish bishops, in 794 (Synod of Frankfurt), condemn the decisions of the Seventh Ecumenical Synod (787) on the veneration of icons and in 809 (Synod of Aachen), add to the sacred Creed the Filioque. These two events constitute the first stage of the schism between the Frankish conquerors and the orthodox Romans. 2) Anti-Hellenic policy, since Hellenism was the historical flesh of Orthodoxy and a constituent element of the Roman Empire. The culturally disadvantaged Franks, therefore, begin to slander the Greek culture as a delusional culture and call the Ellines(Έλληνες) Greeks, giving this ancient name a derisive meaning (Greek = heretic, impostor). oodegr-com.translate.goog/oode/papismos/istoriko_dogmatika/xtes_simera.htm?_x_tr_sl=el&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=el&_x_tr_pto=wapp

Kyle, I have a question on behalf of my grandson. Is saint cannonization infallible in the Eastern Orthodox Church, or can the cannonization be fallible? Asking because of the two Saints Joesphat and Barlaam. They were cannonized as saints but many modern historians say that they didn't exist and their story was derrived from buddha.

Those modern historians are the same ones who want us to believe that the miracles and Resurrection of Christ were just pious stories or metaphors. The modern “historians” are wrong and they unknowingly serve an anti-Christian agenda.

Hey Kyle! I am a non denominational Christian and I’ve Been watching your videos for awhile now and I’m now convinced that Protestantism makes no sense, the only two decisions I’ve come down to are Catholicism and orthodoxy, I just don’t have any orthodox friends to guide me thru orthodoxy so it’s kinda hard to convince my parents to take me to a Orthodox Church. I’ve already been to a Catholic Church with my friend . Any sort of help or pointers you can give me? Thank you for showing me the beauty of orthodoxy!❤️

I've heard from many people including orthodox that I should only pray to the father in the name of Jesus and by the power of holy spirit. But I always pray to the trinity at once, not separate. I just say in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. At the beginning and at the end I say all glory and worship be to god the father, god the son and god the holy spirit and then I prostrate. What you think of this?❤

I think people are converting to orthodoxy, and to extension Catholicism (America is pretty western) because people are sick of some of the not reverent worship and bands in churches. I hope Catholicism changes, as o think it will for the better. There has been wicked popes, and good popes, and church in crisis, but the Protestant idea of just leaving when it gets bad isn’t the best

What? I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. What statistic are you looking at? Most of these surveys are extremely complicated and very easy to misconstrue or read wrong. 65-70% of the US is Christian. I believe 30% are Catholic. Catholic doctrine states Jesus is God. Don’t read articles stating statistics. Most of them are extreme biased and very, very complicated. Which your average pea brained article writer doesn’t understand lol. specially when it gets into religion. Believes are perhaps, the hardest thing to statistically represent. They also don’t tell the full story. If you must know, Islam isn’t doing very well in the states either. 100000 Muslims out of the 3 million leave Islam every year in the states. The apostasy rate went from .01% of Muslims in western countries in 2005 to 24% in 2020. Which a much, much higher growth in apostasy than any other religion. In addition, birth rates are in free fall in Islamic countries, as well as atheism spreading there. Immigration may stabilise it in the states for a while but not for long. The apostasy rates will soon outpace the birth rates, which are already falling at an unexpected speed.

I much prefer America being Orthodox instead of Evangelical. I grew up Evangelical, and I love and respect them, but their theology is terrible and their “””liturgy””” is awful. I’m a diehard Protestant, so I’d prefer all of the Evangelicals become mainline Protestant (in tandem with the RZ’s Reconquista movement), but I see why they go Catholic or Orthodox, and I pray they can stay Catholic or Orthodox. God bless.
