It's really good and insightful. He spoke about it on his podcast and believes the reason he wants to leave RB is due to the controversy with everything going on behind the scenes. Newey has a history of avoiding or leaving teams with controversies and probably has a clause built into his contract. The question is where will he go. Most likely off to build boats.

Horner is quoted several times saying that Newey has had very little influence on the design of the current car so I would like to see if he can influence another team or car, I think its all just about getting money or shares from Red Bull.

And Horner is right! In 2021 he already said that they were organizing it so to prepare for Newey leaving at some point. Pierre Wache has been FULL TIME LEADING the DESIGN TEAM. Newey was only part time consultant. It was on clear show that Wache is their top design guy now …COS HE WAS ALSO ON STAGE AT THE CAR LAUNCH this season! Max also has been giving credit to THE TEAM whenever someone says that Newey designed a fast 2023 or 2024 car in interviews. Ppl don’t realise that since 2022 it’s been Wache full time, when Newey leaves he will finally get the credit he deserves. And Wache renewed his contract with RBR recently too 👊🏻👏🏻 Horner and RBR are prepared for Newey leaving….

Newey is 65, at any other team he can only make small changes, not totally redesign a car. He won’t work fulltime and the cost cap, windtunnel/cfd time won’t allow a completely new car design anyway. AND think abt the current design team at that team, wether it’s Ferrari or Merc or AM, that team, let’s say James Alisson, won’t accept Newey coming in and taking over…. In ANY team…there will be friction if Newey comes in. Cos it shows from top down that the top has no trust in the capabilities of the current designers…. Bringing in Newey in any team will bring jealousy, friction….

As a Honda fan you should not be happy with the Aston Martin deal. It's pretty clear they have a serving role and are spending a lot of money, people, time and other resoruces on the project that the sponsor Aston Martin for way less money will walk away with in terms of received credits. Honda must be just about the dumbest car manufacturer out there in the PR sense.

@@chaosclg didnt mclaren swap to honda engines and it was possibly the worst choice they made in recent history with the power units under powered and blowing up? i remember Alonso with his feet up trying to get a tan once or twice when he had to park the car.

If there was a way (technology) to be able to get into Adrian's mind and see how it works, it would be amazing, to see how he can visualize a car that doesn't exist yet, start forming and changing it in his mind before he even starts to put it on PAPER (not CAD/CAM), this would be something else. As for him leaving Red Bull, I am hoping he plans on retiring, let the man go enjoy his fortunes he worked so hard to get, at 65, maybe it's time to go do things he has been wanting to do for a long time. All the best Adrian in whatever you do.

Whatever happens, he is not going to be able to work on the 2026 car for any other team

Depends on what his contract says, there are always get out clauses and RB or AH may have broken one of them.

He wants a quieter life… he said so before in a interview with the RB channel…

My feeling is Red Bull will try to keep him from going to another team until mid way into 2025 to keep him from being able to heavily influence a 2026 car. That is if he even wants to go to another team or just take his millions and retire. It's not like he needs another $100m to make his retirement years comfortable.

2026 will be an engine focused era vs now a aero. Vestap will leave redbull the end of 2025 for a works team as redbull powertrains will be new and unlikely to win Newy, i think will go to the team that offers him a share of ownership could that be Aston or Merc

Lmao just finished a painful day at work dealing with awful clients only to see good old Craig Slater also clocking in for work....on a Miami beach. Living the life. As for Newey wouldn't be surprised if he also hit the beach & retired, go out on a career high, don't think he has the desired effect on whatever team he goes to next imo re winning a title or a great car, simply on the balance of probabilities. Newey has always been respected but the hype is high as it's ever been right now, I recall mid 2010s during Merc domination he was hardly ever mentioned for the longest time despite his previous accolades. F1 moves on fast cause it loves recency bias, Retire on a high old boy.

Why would Newey who was in Red Bull be constantly mentioned during the time Mercedes dominated? Even then during Merc's reign the Red Bulls were superior in aero BECAUSE of Newey Merc just had the better engine.

@@Jejking Just my take, rarley do teams & key engineers ever nail 2 new regs rules twice in a row including Newey. I'm a longtime Newey fan, I just know how fickle F1 fans have become in the DTS era & the narrative won't be good if the car he builds doesn't dominate or fully compete, which with Ferrari is always more than likely. Just saying, it's not bad to retire on a high especially when you're naturally at retirement age having done F1 fulltime (despite what RB accoutnats say) most your life. Newey has very little to gain & the quick turnover time is already tight seeing as work starts on 2026 cars very soon if it ain't already begun re concepts etc.

my factual sources at ferrari say they want a senna prost driver package like mclaren had in the 1990's and also skoo max away from red bull.

Hes not going to join Max everyone. Hes going to Ferrari. What a glorious day. Toto said he "wasn't interested in Newey" nor does Newey like him. So he wont be joining the silver arrows either.

He'll give them 25 and laydown 26 car outlines to be let off gardening leave would be my guess!

I think it's purely a engineering decision. As Brawn said it once a upon, "I like to fix things that are broken" I believe Newey has hit the ceiling with Rb20 and looks for another beasts to fix. This whole Horner thing is just coincidence. If this all plays out to be true, then his decision was made around the time Hamilton announced his ferrari move. Unless Hamilton moved because he knew Newey was headed that way. Either way it shows Newey has had this on his mind last year already, or atleast once he realized Rb20 was gold. Sad to see him go, even after all this time I still feel rb is an underdog team and I'm really enjoying this domination. It's like Lennon leaving the Beatles, some things just should not be. Yet here we are 😢

😂 you clearly didn’t know that since 2021 it’s actually Pierre Wache who’s responsible for the car design and that Newey was just part time consultant 😂 Wache and his team TOTALLY UNDERSTAND the ground effect cars….unlike certain other teams, and since 2021 Horner has been changing the organization to prepare for Newey, 65, leaving at some point. FINALLY Wache and his team will get the real credit for their excellent job. Ppl thinking it was all Newey? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 it wasn’t 😂😂 The aero/car design will stay strong. The RBPT engine is the question… RBPT manufactures it themselves, Ford only puts their sticker on. But it’s a new factory so it could have some start up issues. It won’t be made by Ford but by former Honda and former Merc engine engineers. It is important for RBR to be independent and not like McLaren be dependent on Merc…

Newey isn’t the holy grail. And he can’t redesign a car overnight, it’s not possible with cost cap nor cfd/windtunnel time. And Newey only works parttime in F1. So a complete overhaul of a car….whatever team, won’t be possible. And Newey is 65… he won’t be in working much longer anyway.

Shocker… A 65 year old man who’s got absolutely nothing to prove in life and who just bought his dream yacht might be going to move on to the next chapter of life. How can this be happen? We’d better make up some drama so we have a story to share. I generally hold Sky F1 in slightly higher esteem than what I’m seeing with this story.

So tired of these "news" videos about Newey, there is nothing of any substance about Newey leaving in the last 4 or 5 videos about it or you would have reported something other than he said/she said. There is no update, just more speculation. I guess the off week really was that bad for news and Hulk was already pretty much expected. Has to be something else out there better to talk about than rehashing this non-story until it is really news.
