    We apologise for the yardage error at the start. Mallorca uses meters on the markers, we are so used to using and saying yards. The shot was 180yards (165m) using 5iron. Hope you enjoyed the video, please leave your comments and questions and make sure to pick up your free e-book from easiestswing.com 👍

    I did a double take when you said 165 yards and had a 5 iron, thinking way too much club. Glad the meter thing was clarified

    @easiest swing HI there, around 20 years ago i was a single figure handicap never hit the ball a long way (7 iron 150 yards) but i was very consistent which helped me get my handicap down to 3. I gave up the game due to work and family commitments but now I'm back at the range looking to enjoy the game again but I'm finding that i am hitting the ball very high and losing a lot of distance (7 iron 120 yards). I feel i am still swinging steady with good timing but cannot stop the high shots with all irons and woods. Im currently 48 years old and very fit and strong so i must be doing something wrong in my swing. I know it is hard without seeing my swing but do you have any suggestions ? thanks scott.

    @@scottwesterman221 Possibly not the root cause but your ball position may be a little more forward than you realise. Moving it back a little should lower the flight. If the problem is in your swing it could be down to early release.

    Just an FYI to whomever may consider buying the book. I just finished reading it for the second time! The psychological aspect of the book is priceless. Thats really the whole idea. After a 40 year stint away from the game, upon my return I quickly realized that my physical capabilities were not the same as I remembered, lol! My back tightened up after 9 holes, barely being able to complete a round. Now I can go 36! (I don'y but maybe?) Getting the thought of having to swing hard out of our minds is the biggest revelation. My friends cant believe how soft and easy I swing whilst hitting the ball straight and with decent distance. They all compliment my "beautiful" swing. Plus.. never getting agitated on the course makes the beauty of golf so much more fun. ALSO, pick up a swing caddie. I actually have both. One in my bag and one on my porch. Invaluable swing aide. Its a must have. I dont want to sound like a commercial, but Brian Sparks and the Easiest Swing team have changed my golf life. What a blast.

    I have tried every golf instruction video out there and I believe that what you guys (and a few other!) are saying is spot on. Stop trying to get everything into a "P1 or P2" position and let your body ALLOW you to swing as you naturally can! Once I started doing this, I increased distance and my accuracy went up! Golf instruction needs to take a page from this and just let the body do what it is intended to do! Relax and swing the damn club! Lol! Great stuff.

    Thank you for the feedback and great work on understanding our underlying message. Golf is played by hitting a ball with a golf club. The only concern is swinging the club using a golf swing. Not parts of a swing or positions of a swing. A complete swing! Restricting your movements deliberately when making a swing will rob you of your natural ability. Brian would say "once you break motion down into parts, you no longer have motion"

    I subscribed to your channel recently and paying golf now for 18 years. I’m 66 and adopted the Dance du golf only two weeks ago. I’ve tried different swing techniques, from conventional, single plane swing and stack and tilt being the latest. After several bucket of balls at the range, and hitting the majority straight with the dance du golf, I decided to put it to practice on the golf course. I selected a 18 Executive course with plenty of par 3’s and a couple of par 4’s. After the first 3 holes doing not so good, I realized I was just swinging to hard. Then I calmed down and just placed the thought in my mind to swing easy and let the club to its job. In the 4th hole I got my first ever hole in one with a nine iron at 124 yards. Had a decent round, hit the ball well using the swing, however, most of My mistakes where chipping and putting. However, I’m happy that I was Able to adopt this swing after so many years and working for Me. Thank you! Hole executive golf course

    Finally. A mention of the main killer of the swings of millions of us. Everyone else teaches positions, swing planes, etc which mean nothing if your body is tense also from too many swing thoughts & standing frozen over the ball. This is something I struggle with as well, mostly with grip pressure which obviously causes tension. To me, it's the most difficult part of the swing, especially if I try to hit the ball hard. Thanks for addressing such an important issue that no one else has in their teaching.

The main thing is to experiment don’t be frightened to try out different numbers on the scale and see what happens. In particular observe how this affects your rhythm and timing. I have followed Julian Mellor and now yourself, and I hope to stick with this swing and learn more from these videos. Another excellent video Philip! I learned one thing right away and that is my "grip pressure" on the handle may be a little too firm! I have been concentrating on a light grip, loose wrists and supple forearms, but evidently my 4 or 5 grip pressure is too much. I know that a golfer will automatically firm up the grip as they come into impact, but maybe this pressure caused too much tension for me in the type of shot that was produced. BTW, Sean mentioned a book by Brian Sparks "Positive Impact Golf!" I downloaded this book into my Kindle in January, 2016 and it is still in my library! I will definitely bring it forward and read it again! All The Best to You Both!

    Really pleased you are enjoying Easiest Swing Bill. Without fully understanding your lead foot restrictions we can only suggest what we have recommended in the past with other clients who pre-knee replacement couldn't swing through to their left side. To aid more movement we got them to turn their lead foot out to a 45⁰ angle towards the target to aid an easier movement that took the strain away from their knee. Perhaps this would help you as well.

    I love your teachings and it does work. Im 75 and i want to know what flex shafts you recommend and how big should your grips be. Im using mid size because i have long fingers as for the clubs, im using KBS Reg steel shafts, but i notice brian was using Ping with graphite shafts.

    Sounds like midsize are about right for you but you could always experiment with an extra layer or two of tape under the grip rather than going to jumbo. But a more flexible graphite shaft is likely to work well for you. I’m 65 and already considering going to them from the steel shafts I’ve used all my life.

    Loosening the arm muscles in preparation for the golf swing is a master move. If I can give my opinion (I'm not a golf pro, but a good amateur having a solid physiomedical education), the best ergonomical setup should (more precisely) be keeping the hand muscles of the fingers well tight, while being able to loose all the muscles proximal to the hand (from the wrist to the shoulder). The reason is that if you keep the fingers' muscles too soft, the club shaft may incur into an undue twist during the downswing or at impact, resulting (mainly) in pulled/sliced shots. The waggle during the setup can really help feel the tightness and softness where they are respectively needed. Thus I would modify that general golf advice you often hear or read, as for keeping quite a loose grip on the club: I think it's correct to loosen the arm but not the points of contact between the hand and the club, as long as each player can manage to employ and control that discrepancy of forces (I'm not a drummer, but I may guess something like that happens when handling drumsticks and you want to move them solidly and fast at the same time).

    Hi Roberto, thanks for your considered observations. There is much to take from what you say. I used to advocate exactly what you say firmer fingers and more relaxed wrists and arms. Herein is a real chicken and egg though…. if you mis-strike the ball it is likely the club will twist in your hands - so what is the cure? hold tighter meaning you are less likely to strike the ball well, or a more relaxed hold so that you are more likely to strike the ball from the centre and therefore not need to hold the club as firmly? Interesting dilemma isn’t it!!! Please bear in mind there are no rights and wrongs here but each player can find their own sweet spot with a little experimentation and an open mind. You may also find the sweet spot gradually changes over the years. I used to hold the club tight and had lots of tension in my arms and wrists. Hopefully you can see the evidence of the changes I have made. Swing Easy!

  • @Easiestswing

    @Easiestswing

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you Roberto, once employed it is indeed an easy, perhaps even masterful way to improve the golf swing. Thank you for sharing your elegant explanation on the best way to hold the golf club. If you were to think about the similarities and differences in art and engineering you would likely find they cross paths rather a lot. The main difference being that with engineering you usually over compensate to allow for major indescrepancies. With art, you tend to do exactly what is enough to express the intention. How tight should the fingers be in a golf hold/grip? In our opinion just enough to prevent the club from moving in an undesirable way, certainly no more or less. The majority of golfers believe they must have a tight hold, which is not necessary. Having tightness anywhere in your body, whether intentional or not will create tension inadvertently elsewhere. Tension is the opposite of suppleness. We don’t believe you can successfully have them together. By removing tension, you increase feel, which increases awareness. You are then more in touch with your natural ability.

    Thank you for your valuable easy to follow advice. I bought Brian's book & he told me he had prepared a lot of work for a follow on book. Are you thinking of using that material for an Easy Swing book with several authors? I know that such productions are difficult, time consuming & probably expensive. Possibly a shortened, revised pamphlet in note form might be very informative & easier to produce than a complete book. What do you think? I have just had my 80 th birthday & now tend to play friendly games off the red tees as my driver only goes 145 yards & my 9 iron 80 yards. I am still playing but health & fitness limit what I can do. I still refer to your Easier Golf course notes. Possibly Brian's research could be used in that type of format? What do you think? Do you think me playing off the red tees Is a sensible idea? Golf should be enjoyable & NOT a struggle to compete. Best wishes from Alan Goudie.

    Hi Alan lovely to hear from you and keep on playing from whichever tees make your game fun and rewarding! Yes indeed Brian had part written his follow up book “The Easiest Swing in Golf” I have spent the last 6 months pulling together his notes plus my own experiences of working with him and some other key factors he and I were working on in the couple of years before he left us. The writing is finished now, so editing and publishing to be done and hope to have it published by the end of the summer. Watch this space!!

I'm not so sure on the annual membership though, it seem a little expensive for something that may not help, is there any way that a months trial could be offered?,If i thought it would have a high percentage of success i would go in full blown, just not sure with the 300 dollar outlay for a gamble is worth it, a few weeks for a couple of quid would be a deal breaker. Just thought i would ask. Thank you Philip for the youtube otput.

    What are your hands doing during the backswing. Are they really quiet and it's just your whole body turning. I seem to get lost at top of my backswing and hands feel as though they have twisted club face open and then get steep on downswing. Im trying to stay relaxed as possible. When the backswing feels right i know im going to hit a good shot but otherwise im just saving the shot with my hands on downswing. I used to be a cricketer, batsmen so used to using my hands a lot so have fairly good hand eye coordination Thanks Dan

    Hi Dan, great question. Brian would often point out that the ball has no idea what your hands, body or the club head is doing in your backswing or on your forward swing. It only responds to the impact. Personally I maintain the quietest hands and wrists possible to allow me to be most aware of the club head throughout the swing. Steepness tends to stem from too much tension and not enough turn. Hope this helps.

    When swinging a club, is there one arm dominate over the other or are they equal? Left handed and I go right of target a lot. So I thought to have left arm dominate over the right, to improve my accurateness.

  • @Easiestswing

    @Easiestswing

    11 ай бұрын

    As a left hander who is missing the target on the right you may well already have a left hand dominance that could be causing this issue. Some experimentation with rebalancing the two sides is a good idea but don’t be surprised if you find the opposite to what you are thinking. We would suggest hitting one handed shots with each hand and see what happens eventually you will discover that both hands have a role your objective is to learn to coordinate the two sides to work together.

    Watched some of your videos and practiced on the driving range yesterday but got hot and tired so not much worked. Today I went for 9 holes while it was cooler and was hitting in the middle of the fairway for most shots using your "dance" When I tensed up I hit into tall weeds and lost my ball. I ordered the book so I can study it and hopefully improve. I usually double boggy holes, but today I would get up to the greens with a chance for par and then blow the putts. I was wondering if you have a certain grip to use. I have seen two or three different grip videos and don't know which one to use. I am left handed and the grips were mostly for right handers. It gets a bit confusing for me.

    Hi Tom, Thanks for this great question. The first question I would like to ask you is "What hold on the putter would be the most enjoyable for you?" You see putting is a FEEL game and there is really no one way to hold the putter. I like to imagine it as an instrument. I am going to post a link to a podcast based on the latest science that backs up what I say. It may not be the answer you are looking for because in golf we have been conditioned to believe there is a right way. This is essentially not true. As you will hear in the following podcast there are much more effective places you can put your attention on rather than how to "grip", for example. May I also suggest you begin to see the putter as an instrument, that you hold lightly in your hands. This will ensure you FEEL the putter head throughout the putting stroke. Hope this helps. Wrote down the pointers of how to hit with driver but didn't help. We don't have a driving range so I practice while on the course. I have been playing golf for about 55 years and never got much good at it. Lately using your easy swing I have been hitting straight and it feels right. I mainly need to practice it and have confidence in my shot. When I get back home my back doesn't hurt like it always did before learning this kind of golf. Experiment up and down the scale of 0 (super relaxed) 10 (rigid). As you go up and down the scale, note your rhythm change as this is important to coordinate with your swing. Swinging out of rhythm can create this floppiness. Effortless however is a more relaxed and graceful swing, everything working together without unnecessary effort.

    Interestingly Derek, we often refer to golfers playing 'fearful' golf. Fearing they might do something wrong, fearing to move, fearing lack of control, fearing a bad shot. These all result in tension. So fear is a close relation of tension. However, you can be tense without fear, but not very often the other way around.

  • @philipsparks8315

    Exactly - you may notice that I stated that it starts with the anxiety about getting over the bunkers. You are right tension is the response to fear. But if you are not aware of the tension you can’t overcome it. If you have fear you can’t just say don’t have fear! but you can learn not to let the fear affect your swing ie the level of tension. Thanks for your comment it adds another dimension. 👍
