Whooping Cough: Bordetella pertussis

Whooping cough, caused by Bordetella pertussis, is a baby killer. It goes all the way back to the middle ages, so let's get a closer look at this bacterium now.

    It has been over 2 months since I last posted that comment. The cough hasn’t gotten worse but the chronic fatigue is awful. You cannot do anything despite 12 hours of sleep. Regarding medication, you can’t take antibiotics once you are 5-6 weeks into the disease. The damage is unfortunately done and there is nothing that can be done but wait like 3-5 months until healed. You can treat the bacterial infection when you first get it like the first month, I was too late and my doctor tested me for any ongoing infections, it tested 0 yet I was coughing until vomiting and just lying in bed dead from tiredness. I hope it’s going better for you than it is for me.

    I had whooping cough when I was two years old. My mom tells me I stopped breathing twice and they were able to resuscitate me. One of the two, I stopped for six minutes. (NO WONDER IM SO FUNKING CRAZY!!!) Later I found out my mom tried getting me the vaccine but the local clinic in rural Missouri didn’t have it. Now I’m immune.

    Funny considering studies have shown as far back as 2012 that the Tdap and Dtap vaccines are quite likely the reason why there has been a resurgence of whooping cough in the United States. Dtap and Tdap protect against the symptoms of pertussis but not contraction or spreading of the disease. Those who have been vaccinated not experience symptoms but are still just as likely to catch and spread the disease. More so in fact. This is due to those who are infected not showing spots due to the vaccine preventing symptoms so the silent carriers of the disease then go around others and further spread it which is especially dangerous for babies who are too young to be vaccinated or can't be vaccinated. The tdap and dtap vaccines are not saving lives. They are silently spreading the disease by masking symptoms. Normally if someone has cold symptoms they will avoid going around others especially young babies but without any symptoms those who have asymptomatic pertussis will go around others and children ad spread the disease without knowing instead of sequestere themselves at home to avoid spreading it like someone with symptoms would do

    As far as I remember, Pertussis can never be eradicated by current vaccinations types, because they focus on the toxins only, and even immunity following natural disease is not long lasting. While your statement is strictly speaking correct (5:15), it is though still misleading ("eradication" vs "preventable deaths"- two pair of shoes).

  • @billybuchanan385

    @billybuchanan385

    2 жыл бұрын

    No disease can truly be eradicated. Neither by vaccination or natural immunity. However natural immunity does typically last longer than vaccine gained immunity with most if not all diseases. While antibodies from a disease my fade other memory immune cells which create antibodies do not. Once the body has had an illness that it has fought off successfully the immune system can then produce antibodies from T and B immune cells which are the immune systems memory cells. Unless you have a faulty immune system that is. A healthy immune system will retain the memory of what it has fought off and will produce successful antibodies for the disease if it comes into contact again. Even if it comes across a mutated strain of bacteria or virus the immune system can still readily recognize and produce immune cells to fight the disease though that doesn't mean you won't get sick. It just eats you have a better chance at fighting off the new strain than you would had you never caught the original similar illness

    Hi Dave, I have na argument with one person about coronavirus quarantine. She said that it is better for non-risk population, to go outside and exposure themself to this and get imunity by that. I would argue that it could be as dangerous as leaving 3 year old kid alone with lighter, because you can essentially help this disease to evolve new, more lethal mutation. My question is: Is my analogy inadequate? Thanks.

    I had whooping cough as an infant and if my mom took me home I would of died in her arms the same night she took me to the hospital the way she told me about the story. She said after the nurse was done feeding me I stopped breathing. I was then in an incubator from the whooping cough. I have also had pneumonia as a newborn and a heart murmur. Now, I get sick all year long, and we cannot find out the reason why. I get sick from children when they are sick and stay sick longer for 2 or 4 months longer than anyone in the household.
