I'm honestly surprised that there hasn't been some push to bring back the monarchy in Afghanistan, since it was the last time the country was fairly stable. I'm not necessarily saying I would support it, but you'd think that there would be some nostalgia for that time period after the decades of war and chaos ever since it was deposed.

Aki Kolehmainen. This is a surprise to me. The Taliban are Pashtuns like to Barakzai dynasty. But the Barakzai were very westernized, so I am surprised at this move. Crown Prince Ahmed Shah Kahn is a poet who has little interest in politics, but his sons might be interested. Who does the Taliban propose should be king? King Zahir Shah's constitution gave non=Pashtun tribes an opportunity to be represented in parliament and government. He blocked his cousin's return to politics which is why his cousin staged a coup d'etat in 1973. This cousin, Mohammed Daoud Khan was later slaughtered along with his entire family by the communists in 1978.

facts to point out, the founder of the taliban, Mullah Omar was Hotak and ex presdent Hamid Karzai is Popal. in afghanistan Power has shifted from tribe to tribe ( most powerful or that has achives the most at the time ) as it must be. If you leave power in individual family you end up with psychopaths like Shujah Shah, or that Abdur Rahman ( he genecided 60-80% of the hazzar people). The Greatest Afghan who ever lived ( in my opinion) was Mirwais Hotak, he freed his people from the brutal rule of the safavids ( they had installed a geogian mercenary as Government to subjugate the pasthuns), and then conquered most Iran it self. Mirwais Hotak refused to be called King/ Shah, he said, those who want to be ruled by a king/shah are free to go elsewhere and find some tyrant to rule them. Those who want to live as free men follow me".

I think afghan need to restore the monarchy and become constitutional monarchy so the king should've protect the stability in the country no matter what and could dissolve the government if it's necessary, rather than presidential that could led to be dictatorship or something that would be bad just like current.

The Taliban declare their leaders as Emirs too, do they have any kind of successors lines working or is the role of emir only symbolic and they function like any other dictatorship?

  • @XfromDarkHorse

Sorry for being late, the word "emir" itself originally means military commander. Nowadays, the meaning of emir has changed to "governor" or "military governor". By this meanings, Emirate of Afghanistan is a military dictatorship because it doesn't work like a monarchy at all.

@@XfromDarkHorse I wrote this comment one year ago, I've researched how Taliban Afghanistan is working, and I discovered that, despite calling itself Emirate, the leader takes the position of Supreme Leader. It's indeed not absolute monarchy whatsoever.
