They stand shoulder to shoulder with the greats and giants in the entertainment world. They changed the decades of the music industry. Saw that quality of BTS as I followed their journey and proved my hypothesis that they are not just great, They are leaders of innovation in the entertainment industry. Kings in their own right for they bow not to the high mighty but to the deprived, the lonely, the confused, the hurt and the rejected. How can anyone be a King and at the same time so humble? While I am not a fan of BTS, I acknowledge their contribution to the music industry. And while I think nothing lasts forever, I think "dethrone" is too strong of a word to use for anyone coming after them, not to mention disrespectful. I think of it as more like passing the torch on to the younger generation rather than a dethroning. Their legacy will continue to live on through the next generations who grew up listening to their songs and living them. While no one else could be BTS, I hope BTS' philosophies with regards to music and artistry will not fade away with the succeeding generations.

If a group's intention is to become the "next BTS", they have already failed. Nexts are always going to be copies of the original. Will there be other groups that succeed? Of course yes! However, they will have to find their own colour and forge their own kingdom as you so aptly put it. Great essay!

BTS' artistry is something i have never seen before. through the years, they have shown that their art and fans are what matters to them the most and they always strive to be better and make better things. they don't let the overwhelming success make them do less and make them think that it's ok to settle for mediocrity. they always want to improve and that's something you don't always see in artists. BTS gives great value to their work as musicians and role models. i really have great respect for them. 💜

I agree. I don’t think there will be any other band like BTS. Their growth is organically done and have been supported by many data & sales proof just look at their touring and album sales, it is insane for a group to reach that number. You can also see their impact everywhere. That level of influence cannot be bought & it speak volumes, you can try to manipulate one or twice but to consistently and topping one success from another like BTS is not an easy feat (and to be frank is unheard off). They are a level of their own. There will be no BTS, like there will be no other The Beatles and Michael Jackson. All of them are legends of their own. I am not really a music person, what drawn me towards them is their level of artistry, deep & encouraging message, honest personality, strong principals individual on top of their in depth involvement with their end products/songs/performance. I am glad that they focus on their groups longevity & mental health, armies are here for a long haul. Wherever they go & decide to pursue we shall support.

I definitely agree with you when you said based on "overall achievement" they ( BTS ) is the best right now as a pop group. But to build "one's own kingdom and shine on it's own merit" is a different thing for me as a fan. It's like you admire two different artist or group, you love two to three songs of that particular artist/group and include it in your playlist but the other one (like BTS) really meets all your expectations of them and shines more, and not just you who love their songs, talents, live performance including all their imperfections, but millions of people from different countries around the world. "Individual parameters" based on vocals and talents or even good visuals is not enough also for an artist or group because it really needs good personality, right timing, inspiring message and fans to achieve the kingdom they wanted to build. BTS is a complete package really.

you are absolutely right. I 100% agree. However, in the video, there is one thing i established. BTS cannot be compared to any other group anymore. they cannot be compared to any other group globally. in fact, they cannot be compared to any other artist. there is BTS, and then there is everyone else. they are in the level of REAL legends, those that change and reinvented art and an entire industry. think about Michael Jackson, or Elvis or The Beatles. you cannot compare them to everyone else. they are a league of their own now. in the video, i enumerated why they are legends, WHAT EXACTLY did they change for the better. now, this is not to say everything is peachy for other groups. of course not, they will still have to put in work. the same way other bands had to put in their work after The Beatles, the same way other pop artists put in the work after MJ. but it is BTS that paved the way for them. so yes, others will build their own kingdom but that path to that has been paved by BTS.

I wish I could agree but in this age of 'I think, I believe, it's my opinion' rather that testing an theory or looking at 'proven facts' we'll always get those who will deny the truth, or who will di reguard facts that's simply don't fit the way they perceive the world around them to be, they'll disregard whatever doesn't fit their limited understanding and preconceived ideas. Critical Thinking is waning while fake news real.

I know you are right when you say what matters to BTS is their artistry, they are not about miney or fame. At the same time, as Army, it hurts when we see BTS not on top of any chart or platform. We want them to excel. However, we might have to concede to what they really want in life and not to pursue our own ambitions. We don't want to unconsciously pressure them to do whatever they are no longer want to do just because they feel Army wants them to.

RM puts it best when he said maybe we can think of them as sons who are asking for the freedom to spread their wings and get to know themselves better. as much as it terrifies and saddens us, we need to give them that. 😢

BTS are much more that a simply 'boy band' (never been into 'boy band's) they are a movement, an idealogy, an inspiration, they are thinkers and mental health agents, activists that lead other to think deeper to explore, to question and look for better ways of doing things. K-pop groups might try to “dethrone” BTS, but it will have to be in a new, innovative way, not by following the path that BTS already paved. They need to carve their own, different path. I haven’t seen that yet in any groups. By applying for a nomination for a Grammy without first racking up Daesang awards proves they are trying to ride BTS’s coattails rather than growing organically. This is how BTS transcended the world of K-pop.

nobody. nobody will be greater than them, the same way there is no one greater than the Beatles, Michael Jackson, etc. someday, their records may be surpassed but no one will surpass their impact. others will become successful and "build their own kingdom" but no one will take their throne

What are the parameters when you say dethroned? Surely It is in the overall achievement? Cause if if you take the individual parameters, there maybe be areas that they are dethroned by others, eg vocals or talents..but overall, then it’s hard to overtake them because they have the machinery which supported them very well and they have been in the business for quite sometime.. but why does one need to dethrone them?? let them be in their kingdom, but one can build one’s own… and each will shine on its own merit…the world is big enough to accommodate many kings of pop!!

Aren't you comparing an apple and an orange here though, did Big Bang write and produce their music, did they break social morays by speaking about their own mental health struggles or criticizing social ills. When it comes to Big Bang, they apparently were instrumental in shaping the way kpop presents itself. BTS has had such undeniable healing power that even before their 3 all-English songs they were this century's Beatles phenomenon inspiring so many to investigate beyond Korean language/cultural barriers. Countless testimonies under yt videos of people saying BTS saved their life, helped them to love themselves or get through a difficult time. Very good? The best?
