The segway for Patrion cracked me up. Well played sir.
9:25 Hey! That's a first generation iPod touch!
Hey Paul, I've been reading about Anaximander recently. He lived 610 - c. 546 BC and was an amazing scientist. I'm flabbergasted about what he imagined way back then.
Great show Paul very informative many thanks
another amazing video. Thanks Paul.
Very Enjoyable and informative. Thanks.
Can you please make all those whole episodes you mentioned. That would be great. You are also great, thank you!
No words
Great talk. Thanks.
I didn’t realise, but I needed that message today - no matter the chaos and unpredictably, the sun and stars will always be there and good times and the summer will return 😊.
I can't wait to hear the Patreon injection 😄... and as always top quality content from Paul, thanks!
Never underestimate our ancestors. They may not have had our tools and toys, but brain-wise… there likely was not much of a difference for several tens of thousands of years. Btw, I have an astrolabe sitting right behind me on my shelf. A beautiful piece of art, and at the same time an impressively precise instrument. Thank you for this video. Ad Astra. 🙂
Upon seeing a smartphone even a homo erectus might perhaps simply point to a nearby monolith and be all like "meh" for they have seen the sky and it is full of stars.
Heads bent down to look at the phone... or heads bent up to look at the heavens.
Wow!
Thank you! This is really poetic, and a worthy tribute to the amazing history of science.
Best one ever
This is great. I especially appreciate this gentleman's self aggrandizement. He's better than everyone, and he knows it.
I built a time machine, once, but it was just special effects.
"Look out at the sky" REALLY??? It's so polluted out there that you'd need a James Webb to get a glimpse of stars
Beautiful Paul! ;^)
The earliest individuals on Earth to look up at the sky and observe the Sun and the Moon and the stars were our ancestors who lived about 300 million years ago. This was after the eye had evolved in the creatures who lived in the sea, and they crawled out of the sea and evolved a brain that could recognize objects in the sky. Those were the first astronomers, but they probably didn't try to write anything down though.
Ancient people spent a lot more time outside, then we do nowadays.
❤❤❤
Civilizations which interpreted the sky flourished. Those that didn’t, died off.
"There ain't half been some clever bastards ", the sage Ian Dury. Paul you have really hit this out of the park. Loved it!
Maybe if Angry Birds was available no one would go to the 5 days party.
People back then were also teaching about dark matter and energy, today it's scrubbed/hidden and lock away from our understanding. 🌼🔥

It turns out you don't have to go back in time to find people who aren't impressed with your smartphone. I, for one, am definitely not impressed.
