A wonderful documentary save for the shocking let-down at the end. The rendering of Kitty in Boots, crude and grotesque, is beyond disappointing -- it's heartbreaking. Perhaps appropriate to the work some other writer, but not Beatrix Potter. An illustrator should have been found who was capable of replicating Potter's style -- not only as a fitting homage to Potter, but out of respect for her readers who derive so much joy from the delicacy and faithfulness with which she portrayed the beauty of animals.

I happen to like Mr. Blake's artwork, but in all honesty, I think Beatrix would be very upset to see that he was chosen to illustrate such an important book. Not only is his style completely incompatible with her body of work, so as not to even offer an homage to such a titan of the literary and Illustration world, but I believe she also would have wanted a female illustrator to be chosen. Also, his style definitely would not appeal to the majority of Beatrix Potter fans... Unfortunately that's the one of her books that I won't be purchasing 😔🐿️🐇🦉

I have always found Beatrix Potter’s illustrations to be whimsical and endearing. As a child, I delighted in the soft plumpness of her enchanting characters. They were adorable in petticoats, buttons and bonnets. I admired the beautiful details, such as the pink foxgloves gracing a walkway, or the expressions, the innocence and surprise so perfectly painted on the beloved characters. I treasure her imagination. Her art and storytelling enabled me to enter into a magical place for a time , to a place where puddle ducks wear pinafores and a frog goes fishing for minnows on a lily pad boat. I hope that the admiration for the precious innocence of Beatrix Potter’s tales and her delightful illustrations is never lost in this, now, cold, confused, offended and offensive, solecistic, and rapidly changing world.

Those of us who love her books, love them very much for the illustrations and the unique and very stylish world she created. Quentin Blake's illustrations are too different. Those two have two very different fan groups. Unfortunately, the publishers had upset many people with their choice. The obvious choice for me was Jill Barklem. She was still alive when the manuscript for Kitty in Boots was found. Her style was very suitable, and similar. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jill Barklem (born Gillian Gaze; 23 May 1951 - 15 November 2017) was a British writer and illustrator of children's books. @@annieoakley2925 Indeed. His wife was not high tone enough for them. Rather than be cut off, BP's brother hid the wife..The parents were very snooty and it's laughable because the pots of money came from dreaded trade, from printing fabrics just the generation before. Both of BP 's suitors were in trade and therefore beyond the pale. Thankfully she went ahead the 2nd time.

Shame on the 91 (at this writing) who thumbed down this wonderful tribute to a true lady. I never had the privilege of owning any of these classic masterpieces. Beatrix Potter should be put alongside other classic authors of her time like the Brontë sisters, Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson and Agatha Christie, and should be considered by elementary school students as a joy to read and an inspiration.

I love Beatrix Potter! I have several books about her next to her children's books of course! She was a truly amazing woman! The Lake District owes her so much! I still haven't managed to go visit all her favourite places and where she lived! I still hope to someday! She is one of those few people where one can say she was a beautiful person in body and soul! Her spirit and character, her determination and passion! And what a legacy she left behind!

I find myself coming back to rewatch this again and again-I absolutely adore Dame Patricia Routledge (“lady of the house speaking”)…she brings this story to life in a way that no other could. Thank you ✨💛

Dear Patricia , I so enjoyed this I am watching it again. When I was just 4 years old I was given Peter Rabbit. I still recall well the dear little book and smooth pages that went with the story. That is the first book I remember 74 years ago. I am slowly recovering from my husbands death but sad to say I was given meds. that not just crippled my feet but left me bedridden with chronic fatigue. I am envious of your beauty and energy but also know there would be a rare sadness in it. Can I thank you again for not just this but all the wonderful humour you have given me . You have been such a joy to so many and I can’t even touch about your singing. From New Zealand 🥰

I collect Beatrix Potter and so does my mother. I've got 🍵 teacups, 📚 books, toys, Peter 🐇🐰they're the most enchanting characters ever created 🥕 this has got to be the most beautiful documentary I've heard in a long time. Beatrix was quite a character. If she ONLY knew the legacy she's left behind! To see the archives...It astounding!!!

Lovely documentary. As the grandchild of 4 UK immigrants here in Canada I never took to these tales or drawings as a child surprisingly. My childhood best friends room, clothes and artwork however, was all Beatrix Potter. Beatrix was a fascinating person.

I love this documentary ❤ Like others I was hoping for the illustrations to be in Beatrix's style of Artwork. It gives the story pages a completely harsh look.

My father was a cousin of Beatrix Potter and I grew up on her books. My favourite was Jemima Puddleduck and my father had to read it to me every night even though I knew it off by heart. I would correct him if he got a word wrong! We also had the board game that is shown briefly at about 34 minutes. Happy days!

My mother grew up in the era Beatrix Potter was most prominent and brought me up on the books too. Her gorgeous illustrations were what really got me into art, which is now my biggest hobby and something I’d like to build a career on when I graduate high school- especially as a girl, she’s an amazing inspiration for me! She was certainly a remarkable woman.
