Those pansies, who were so afraid of what happened 12,000 years ago, went underground to protect themselves and their technology and now they aren't honoring the pact to return the people they take. Fuck them and their nonexistent eyebrows! Let them drown in their shallow genepool desperately trying to leave the Earth over a little black hole sun. Maybe they should have shown some respect to our traditionally revered reproductive prowess and fertility! Perhaps being big, strong, fast and nerdy wasn't as superior as they thought it was!

Sometimes people fall through the polygons in low traffic areas where the devs didn't thoroughly playtest the terrain. The software usually catches it before they hit the death wall and it's coded to attempt to teleport them to the nearest safe spot in the zone (outside of the sight of other players to maintain immersion). Sometimes their inventory gets scattered from multiple attempted teleports when the safe area is too small or improperly shaped to accommodate their avatar and a another safe area has to be selected. Due to the complexity of "scenic" terrain this can occur multiple times and may result in the player ending up kilometers away from the site of the polygon error. Refunds or new characters with enhanced stats are awarded (at the player's discretion) in the rare case that a player's time is cut short.

When I was in my early teens I went cycling in the black forest in Germany when we were there on holiday. Before dinner I went cycling and got lost in the forest within minutes.... The next day I stumbled into a village miles away and one of the people whom I adressed recognized me from the evening news blurp about me and walked me over to the local police station. Its easy to get lost out in the wild. If the person you are looking for is also on the move (like was the case for me) its nigh impossible to find them unless you are very lucky to stumble upon them. They send helicopters, search parties etc etc to look for me but they were looking in the wrong place. But hey I made the news! The kids not beeing starved is also not to strange. In my case, I foraged some berries when I got a little hungry. Also chances are that if you live in a western country you can go days without food..... We are....well fed. Beeing lost for 1 or 2 days wont get you killed on account of having no food. Water is more likely to be a problem though. I was slightly dehydrated when I got found. Luckily for me I walked away from that with no injuries or whatnot but aside from the story with the weird christians most of these stories dont sound that very weird. Getting lost is suprisingly easy and when people are under severe stress their memories can be weird. Overlooking someone or something can also be easy when you are searching an area and when people are on the move its not so weird to find them in places where you have already looked. I dont think most are murder per se, some might be but dont underrestimate how easy it is to get lost.

I went on a backpacking trip with my scout troop when I was 14 and we had this one kid in our troop with mild autism. He's typically high functioning and he'd been in our troop for a long time so we'd gotten used to not needing to pay as much attention to him. We were up in the Uintah Mountains here in Utah which are super rocky and full of bushes and other flora and hard to move through if you're not on the path and even sometimes when you are on the path. In the middle of the night at our first campsite, the kid gets up to go to the bathroom but it was number two so he had to go pretty far away from his tent and he forgot to grab his flashlight. So when he finished he started to walk back to camp but he didn't have a flashlight so he ended up walking 4 miles to the direct east of our campsite where he stumbled across some other people camping and was able to get in contact with us. Which is kind of insane for the topography of that region and all the dead fall around our campsite. Because of that I'm inclined to believe the first story with the autistic boy. The 3 days without water thing seems a bit absurd to me though, my intuition tells me that it was the parents doing it for attention at that point like that weather balloon story from Colorado.

  • @Sean-fu3mn

You should re-examine the weather balloon case. I know some ‘evidence’ seems like a smoking gun like the kid supposedly admitting it in the interview. But in the breakdowns after the fact that I’ve seen (with added evidence from the Father afterwords, such as the wife’s confession really being down to her lack of English comprehension among others) it’s very interesting and on second look leads me to actually believe the father not the accepted narrative.

In the third case it really sounds like they went in suspecting the father, but then that is from his testimony which could carry bias. But I don't like the "there's no way the boy could have climbed up there" claim. People (adults) often underestimate how well children can climb things, and they have no idea what route he may have taken. It just seems like they're trying to increase the mystery by emphasizing some things that are not actually known. What disturbs me most about it, though, is just how careless the whole thing was. You've got a couple of young children with you and you decide to change the plan on a wing and do a 15mile hike? THEY probably weren't even properly prepared for it, let alone having a couple of kids who definitely were not prepared for it.

There was a case like this near where I live. It was a runner during the mount marathon race in seward. The man was last seen as the last runner of the race at the top of the mountain then was never found. My father actually took part in the search because he knows that mountain well. Nothing was ever found of the missing person even through dogs, and thermal scans. My fathers theory is actually that the man was known to not see very well in the bottom half of his vision. So when he got to the top he tired to find an easier way down and fell down one of the many cliffs there are. Then his body was probably carried off by a bear. For us it seems to be the most logical explanation.

A few personal notes on the last case; 1. I wouldn't expect Military to be deployed for a helicopter crash like this, I would expect Paramedics but if there are serious military personnel this sounds like the Helicopter's fuel tank was sabotaged either by hand or by someone who could target it in flight without being directly noticed. 2.The Dad would have been one of the first suspects in a potential murder however from the weirdness of the situation I have to wonder where the 6y/o went in the middle of this, I do not expect her to socialize very well with a group of adults (especially Christian Singles, that puts them in their 20's at least) so she should have been with her brother for a majority of the time but instead she is suspended from the narrative even though she is the main cultivator of the situation, the "communication" between all of the adults. If the caretaker for the "kids" was only in charge of the boy while another the daughter, then I would suspect a pedo in the group, but the one overall that wasn't aware of being in charge of the kids sounds more like simple manipulation tactics, that with the addition of the boy supposedly yelling in a playful manner while the Father's tracks never being found in the area lean me to the daughter having a more fundamental part in the boy's disappearance. 3. I doubt that a 3y/o would have much foreknowledge about bears other than that they exist, and wilderness exploration wouldn't be a strong suit either. From my understanding a 3y/o would have to be prompted about bears in order to ask anyone, and that knowledge could be skewed beyond recollection, He could think that some foot tall midget bear is chasing him and because he's too young to fight it he has to jump in the water naked to avoid it. 4. On the police communication, plenty could be going on but overall I expect that there was a miss-translation on Alan's part where "If" there was a body in the water it would be "preserved" for up to four years, or that seasonal rapids made the potential recovery of a body hard to do timely and then the 4 year time skip to planted clothing. Alan's not entirely a reliable source when it comes to his personal touches. 5. For how I put this together, someone had to Connect with the kid enough for them to be playful, convince the child to strip naked (could be by force), convince the other 11+ adults and his sister to isolate him, know how to communicate with the Father to let the kids go on the trip through 1 conversation, have the strength to move a 3y/o kid around, and have a method of breaking a skull without causing the kid to call for help. This could easily be a horror of errors but the common character is the Boy's Sister, if Anybody wanted to get at the boy it would have to be through her. It has been long enough that Innocent or not the girl could just as easily have forgotten the events as she could feign ignorance of them. But still - the absolute disappearance of the kid's sister in the narrative is completely bonkers, I expect Alan, the author of missing 411 to ignore that because he's a conspiracy nut who doesn't really care, but for the police to just completely forget about her is strange as she'd be the most likely to know what happened. So I suspect that the 6y/o indeed *was* interrogated and threw off the police by communicating that the Father and Uncle had some kind of appearance in the narrative, true or not. Anywhere between 1 to 13 people could have some kind of coordination to cause harm to the child and that's probably where the investigators drew the line to restrict volunteers and family from searching, too many suspects. Except the most important one who would have the strongest lead was eventually ignored. It's 12:30 in the morning, I've spent two hours breaking this down, tl:dr The Daughter knows who did it but some amount of ineptitude by investigators prevented them from using her as a utility in the search. That's the end of the mystery and it's depressing. Night.

Many police officers in my state are being suspected for Human trafficking and they’re having a hard time working through it because it’s all a big game of who knows who and what deals are made between who. But many of these cases have heavy trafficking vibes, I’m not an expert by any means, it’s just a feeling I’m getting from the police “incompetence” and such.

I feel like the murder theory makes sense but it doesnt explain the weirder coincidences. I suppose the murder theory does explain why the bodies show up so far from where the parents claim the child last was and why bodies of water play a consistent role (dumping bodies). Also, even in the cases where the kid is found alive it could simply be attempted murder; the parent just claimed that they lost the child when really they dumped them off in the woods and told authorities they were no where near where they actually were. I would also like to say that when people suffer from hypothermia they tend to remove clothing because the body tricks the mind into believeing theyre warm (for some reason). But the murder theory doesnt explain everything. The strange amount of police negligence is odd. And the more you look into it the more obvious it seems that the park service DOES NOT want people to know about how large the number of missing people is (possibly to not hurt tourism)? Furthermore coincidences like shoes found way too far from the body are vastly confusing, and a strange number of cases feature kids who dont even remember the time they spent missing. Maybe this is caused by trauma? But yeah. The strange coincidences sure are strange. Id honestly love to see you look deeper into this weird set of stories.

I'd think its a combo of all the above. Parents want a 'burdensome' kid gone. Claim they wandered off or otherwise went missing. Natty park doesn't really want it to impact tourism despite most of the folks wanting to help whoever is involved. Police have other things in mind or care about than trekking in the woods to hunt some wandering kid who they convince themselves will wander back in due time. Its a combo of human issues rather than just one explaining all of it. We all want one simple, nice and neat answer. Life refuses that on continual basis I've found.

I'm not intending that as a dig at your desire to look deeper, but: police negligence IS the norm. At least in the US and a couple of other countries that I had an unpleasure to work close to them or encounter/need them. And I mean that not in the only anecdotal sense. There are quite general, I would suspect, almost universal practices and systems that contribute to that. As for national parks and info on lost people, they are not required to gather, keep, process or share that information. And in such cases you can't really expect from organisations to do so on their own accord. As a general rule that public relations for business and agencies adhere to: if you are not required to tell - don't.

I withdrew my gaze for but a moment to take a sip from my canteen, and when I looked back, poor little Timmy had *gasp* vanished." -Grade A parenting, horrible tragedy It's all too convenient that when the victim is a special needs/very young child they just disappeared; one second they're there, the next, they're gone. That doesn't happen, and it's a way too convenient way for a parent to exaggerate their vigilance in the situation. It's also a convenient way to make the occurrence sound more dramatic, more tragic, less... suspect. If somebody says something fantastical like that to me, the most generous assumption I can make about that is that they're misremembering what happened because they can't accept what happened, they're hysterical. But my personal incredulity does not beget probably cause, and I don't blame officers for wanting to be as sympathetic as possible to parents who are in a horrible mental/emotional state (even if they murdered the child in cold blood, they're going to be effected on some level, and that shit shows). "They're being really dramatic about this, so it must be strange, unusual, or even supernatural." It's just really difficult to tap into your skeptical brain when you have a hysterical mess of a parent who might never see their child again in front of you, and whether the parent realizes it or not, that paranormal vanishing act lends itself very well to that kind of perception of a person's story.

Even in cases where a totally reasonable amount of oversight was taken, if a child goes missing, I expect a parent to exaggerate just how closely they were watching, because in that situation the blame defaults to them.

My mother noticed is wasn't around so she looked for me. Couldn't kind me. At some point she searched the entire house, my father was called (I think with a bag phone thing in his car). When he got home, he searched the house. They were also probably looking outside (main natural environment concern being a body of water near by, but there were also poisonous snakes that could live near by and a road at the end of the driveway that someone could have picked me up at). Before the police could get there though I came walking out of the house. As if I just woke up from a nap. To this day it's a mystery as to where I was.

Lots of myths about fairies are about how they would abduct someone, usually a child, and bring them to their land, then leave them around where they found the child. Which sounds a lot like 411 cases. The first time I heard about the fairy connection was from a podcast called the paranormies. Just google paranormies 411 and you'll find the episode.

As an Australian and mother of 3 autistic children I don't find the first boys behaviour odd at all. It is not uncommon for individuals with ASD to not feel or be as effected by pain or temp changes and if the are a picky eater they will sometimes eat less and be used to this (it is a constant struggle to get my youngest boy to eat but thankfully he is still within a health weight range). Also they often prefer not to wear shoes, as they are often experiencing sensory overload and the bush could be very calming for them. It is not uncommon for those with more server ASD to stand or hold their body oddly for long periods and be lost in their own world. My eldest has explained he feels the passage of time differently and so will feel like no time at all has gone by at all, so it's possible that William didn't feel like he was alone for as long as he was. TLDR , the lost Aussie boy displayed typical autistic behaviours and they way they found he was not that odd. (I have 3 autistic children & a further 5 people in my family have autism)

I immediately had the same feeling. I could 100% imagine an autistic child HIDING from the search party out of embarrassment or anxiety and only "approaching" someone once he became desperate. Even when he was found it sounded like he was scared of actually approaching the guy. I don't think it's a coincidence that a lot of these missing stories are children.. Children can wander off without thinking and generally won't think logically when they realize they're lost. The last people to see these children would say "i only looked away for a second and he had completely vanished" bbbbbut how often have you heard that exact thing from parents in supermarkets? "I was watching him really closely, i turned away to grab some milk an he had vanished". It's really not hard for a kid to just wander off an get lost, especially in a forest LUL

My theory on the autistic kid's (Will) disappearence: The parents wanted to get rid of their kid: leaving an autistic kid to die on mount DISAPPOINTMENT kind of like leaving a message to God that they didn't approve of what they got. But before night fall Will was found and abducted by a possible pedophile which means he was not out in the freezing cold wilderness without food and water but probably received trauma from whatever his abductor done to him. However when the disappearence of Will and the search for him started the abductor got scared they might get found out an on the third day released Will in the forest where he was found.

It's not a comment on the families, but the 'I only looked away for ten seconds' thing that shows up very commonly in these stories likely isn't accurate. My parents very much subscribed to the overly paranoid helicopter school of parenting, and I can't count the number of times me or one of my brothers got lost in supermarkets while our parents were comparing the prices on different brands of soup. I don't mean to suggest that the families are lying or are to blame (except in cases where they were clearly negligent), just that what feels like 10 seconds looking at a map or digging through your backpack might not really be 10 seconds, and especially when you have more than one child it's easy to get distracted.

That people are often found weirdly far from where they disappeared, or at a significantly higher or lower elevation makes sense to me. If you realise you're lost, what are your options? You either stand still and wait for rescue crews to find you, you make your best guess of where the rest of the group might be and start walking, or you make a guess at where the nearest road is and you start walking. If you think walking far enough to find something is your only hope, and especially if you walk instead of sleeping you're likely to cover a lot of ground. People are inclined to deliberately walk up hill to see if they can get a better view of their surroundings, or to unintentionally walk down hill because it's easier. EDIT: Not to suggest that you should pick a direction and keep walking. Your best bet is as soon as you realise you're lost to find a clearing with an unobstructed view of the sky and arrange sticks and stones into a large equilateral triangle visible from the air. Even if you end up needing to move away from the triangle to find water, once a search begins, search crews will at least have an accurate idea of where you were and can factor that into the search area.

Almost all of us live near water. Children, when lost, tend to stop when they get tired and crawl under bushes or into leaves when cold. Adults don't. This is why so many children are found alive and fewer adults. "He was found close to search command." That's how searches work.

You're also unlikely to come across another person to ask for help if you do get separated from your family. Looking at those photos, the woods look incredibly dense compared to anything I'm used to. I can imagine 20 feet of the trees at 8:20 being enough to totally obscure somebody.

This is one I've watched twice and found it hard to comment on because there's a lot of tragedy that I don't want to make light of. But as wild conspiracy theories go, I think we're missing one: parallel Earth. I don't think anyone can really argue that this Earth is chaos and, well, frankly, Hell. So it stands to reason that if parallel universes existed, one that is "like" ours, but idyllic, could exist. And if it's a friendlier, more perfect Earth, then it stands to reason that the overlaps that form gateways would be in the areas that are more scenic and beautiful parts of nature. So conditions may be freezing or inhospitable on OUR Earth, but accidentally walking into a parallel Earth that's idyllic, they're nicer, warmer, more life-positive and thus easy to survive in. Who would even want to leave? But eventually the parallel Perfect Earth spits them back out because they don't belong there. And then they don't survive back on our Hell Earth. (Or, if they're lucky, they're found before they die.) And there you have it, the perfect explanation. Of course, do I believe it? Heck no. But is it possible? Let me roll my D100 ... ,000,000 and get back to you with the results. Meanwhile a combination of murder, suicide, bad parenting, and incompetence sound like a pretty plausible alternative. For the record, I've contemplated packing up a backpack and disappearing from society a number of times myself.

I thought pedophile on the last case too, but not because they where Christians. It was the found clothes that made me suspicious. The pants where inside out, and no socks or underwear where found.

@@James-mw1yf maybe that's what the group told the dad, that she wanted to go along.... the brother heard it and was like I wanna go too.... it was my first thought when religion was mentioned that maybe it was a nutjob (sad tbh that that is my first thought about something meant to be good)

I really love this because you don’t buy into stuff immediately, you think about it your self and push your opinion Into it, you act well... like a skeptic about it. Please make more stuff like this in the future it’s very entertaining.

Some of the phenomena in the 411 theory make sense when you think about it: Near water - National parks are full of rivers and lakes. That is where a person will likely go to avoid rough terrain or to follow to an urban area. It is likely to be clearer, so they can get a better view. High up - Again, a person may climb to a higher vantage point in order to survey the land and find their way. Often at the front or back of groups - Well, that's the easiest place to detach from the group, intentionally or accidentally. The people in the middle will probably have eyes on them. People turned away for a moment - This one is probably false, and either an excuse that negligent people make, or it really just *seems* like a moment, when in actuality they have been looking away for some time. Storm - This one is strangest, but perhaps the storm makes the search more likely to be a failure, as it can call off searches due to the weather hazard, obscure vision and ground aircraft. This lost time makes the later discovery seem miraculous if they're alive, but also increases the chances that the missing person dies. Found in areas already covered by searches - Planted there after the fact, or the searches were sloppy.
