I work in a shop that services 40 foot buses and smaller cutaway buses. For the big diesels you biy battery all the way for anything that involves working on the engine inside the bus. Sucks trying to pull airlines through the front doors and all the way back. However, air impact for doing tires. For the smaller cutaways I go air for anything except ratches.

Some things can only be done with air. An air hammer is such an incredibly important tool, and there ain't no cordless air hammers.

The more you use your air tool, the longer your battery will last on your cordless power tool. Win-Win.

As a farmer who has to work on most of our machinery in a field, air tools are a must. We have air compressors on our work trucks and cannot fully rely on battery powered tools to get the job done. Yes they can be handy in certain situations but a majority of the time we use air. Even at our shop we use air instead of battery powered, just more reliable and powerful in my opinion.

PLUS!!! that sound an air impact makes, make you feel your in a SHOP!!! kinda like there is no greater feeling listening to a V8 engine rev up and scream! compared to a 4 cylinder.😀😃😁

We use air tool where I work, we build industrial and hydraulic hoses and it is often enough that air is useful to have. It is faster to have the compressor to fill up, compared to having to charge a battery.

Price of air tools is cheaper. And if you’re working in sub zero temps your battery won’t last as long as they do when it’s warm. That being said battery tools have there place but will never replace air.

If I’m in the shop depending on the job I use either. I like to use my air tools when I’m doing suspension work but I don’t mind using my electric impact to take off and put lug nuts back on

"hit that nail on the head!" I have both, and prefer air for tire rotations and under carriage bolts, EG, exhaust bolt hangers fuel tank straps ECT. In a pinch? use the battery power, go to? air for sure.

Your nuts, i have milwaukee 1" d handle, 1/2 high torque, mid torque along with grinders, lights, and other tools all on the same battery platform with 6 6ah battery's. working 12 hours a day you can probably get 2 days before killing all the batteries. I love my air tools but they are less powerful and convenient at this point.

Im team air im in a diy setting but when thinking about how i want to build my arsenal of tools it was cheaper to by a good compressor than it was to buy batteries to keep up and the compressor will probably out live the batteries anyway lol (air also sounds cooler)

I have been a heavy line diesel mechanic for years. I have a drawer full of air tools and one full of electric. I still use my air just as much as I use my electric. Also depends on the job as well.

You probably better off as a Truck Driver than a truck mechanic, but it's not for everybody. When I started out, I asked a guy in the body shop about switching over from the service department to the body shop. He said, do you like washing sanding and cleaning or detailing cars all day? I said NO! He say, well you won't like being a body man then. I think he's right, but there are better alternatives to what we are now doing that's for sure. Like jobs that pay good and no more tool bills! Thinking back if I did not have tool bills, I could have bought a brand new car or truck every 8-10 years. I could have bought the house I am currently living and it would be long paid off! And no tools bills 😳

@@EzTechJoe Yeah Body Paint Man gets all the glory because he's the one that makes the car look like new! But just like a mechanic it's hard work and gets harder as time goes by. The problem with tools is the tool buying never ends! Because everything in the mechanics world keeps changing. While a carpenter electrician welder or truck driver, once he gets what he needs, that's it! He don't need anything else.
