Who Shouldn't Consume Curcumin or Turmeric?

Just because something is natural and plant-based doesn't mean it's necessarily safe. Those who are pregnant, have gallstones, or are susceptible to kidney stones may want to moderate their turmeric consumption.

This is the last installment of a 6-part video series on the power of spices in general and turmeric in particular. I started out discussing the role spices play in squelching inflammation and free radicals in Which Spices Fight Inflammation? (nutritionfacts.org/video/which...) and Spicing Up DNA Protection (nutritionfacts.org/video/spici.... Then out of the lab into the clinic with attempts to test the ability of turmeric extracts to treat joint inflammation with Turmeric Curcumin and Rheumatoid Arthritis (nutritionfacts.org/video/turme...) and Turmeric Curcumin and Osteoarthritis (nutritionfacts.org/video/turme.... My last video, Boosting the Bioavailability of Curcumin (nutritionfacts.org/video/boost..., discussed ways to improve the absorption of these anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds.
I wish there was more science on wheatgrass. I just had that one unhelpful anecdote in my video How Much Broccoli Is Too Much? (nutritionfacts.org/video/how-m...) There is good science on flax though. See:
• Flax Seeds For Breast Pain (nutritionfacts.org/video/flax-...)
• Breast Cancer Survival and Lignan Intake (nutritionfacts.org/video/breas...)
• Flax and Fecal Flora (nutritionfacts.org/video/flax-...)
• Prostate vs. Plants (nutritionfacts.org/video/prost...)
• A Better Breakfast (nutritionfacts.org/video/a-bet...)
• Flaxseeds vs. Chia Seeds (nutritionfacts.org/video/flaxs...)

This channel is called NUTRITIAN FACTS, so I don't understand why people are complaining about him talking about the dangers of turmeric and not pharmaceuticals or medication. It isn't a secret anymore that medications are dangerous and have lots of side effects. That's why people try to find natural cures nowadays. Therefore his work is actually very important, because a lot of us think just because it is natural it has to be good. The fact that we are used to pharmaceuticals and forgot about all the natural remedies is also a reason why we need to be schooled in this matter. We tend to use natural ingredients without any knowledge which also can be very dangerous

You people are unbelievable. This is a balanced video, with a lot of good information using real data, showing that there are risks for taking ANY supplement, as well as many benefits, that should be carefully considered. But instead of appreciating this information, people here would rather stick their fingers in their ears and say "Nananananana! Can't hear you! You're a shill for Big Pharma!" Seriously? Use your intelligence. With ANYTHING, there's a risk of too much consumption. He's saying "Be mindful of the risks here." That's all. But you guys would rather discount this in favor of some stuff on blogs and 2nd or 3rd hand info.

I have a strong feeling that most of the people calling this video BS either didn't actually watch the video, or watched the video but didn't comprehend it...

Oh my god people. Please watch his other videos. He have many videos on benefits of Turmeric. In this video he just points out side effects of over consumption. There are many other herbs that can damage your body when taken incorrectly or taken in excess. As a lot of people have mentioned, Balance is the KEY...

these are just stupid amounts to be using. Nobody should eat anything in mega Doses and notice how I say doses I am a physician and I think it is fine in the diet at three quarters of an inch of fresh per day or a teaspoon in your food. waiting on your position for how much you can consume daily as we are all different and have different chemistry.

why even waste money on capsule supplements when you can buy a 200 gram bag of ground turmeric in most supermarkets for about £ 1.50 - £ 2.00 and just add a quarter teaspoon to omelets , stir frying, even stir a little into olive oil and drizzle over salad, why do people pay so much more than they have to , to the big pharmaceutical industry's?

if I'm going to take chances on how I'm going to deal with my inflammation I'd always chose curcumin and turmeric over big pharma antiflamatory meds. So I don't know how I feel about this.

I agree, these videos are essential. I took a liver detox each day with half a teaspoon of turmeric, unknowingly the turmeric was thinning my blood and caused flooding during my menstrual cycle. I became very ill and anemic. But I carried on, it was my husband that discovered this out years later. It is best to be very cautious, we read about benefits but we should be told about side effects. I have recovered well, thank God, and still take it but with caution and never during my cycle.

Yes! I was taking tumeric because of all the positive things about it. It was a big mistake..made my gallbladder almost turn septic. I would use tiny tiny bit of it in food and tea. Becareful with tumeric..I had emergency surgery I'm pretty sure this was the reason why.
