Only twelve episodes, yet there is so much packed into each episode that it is real value for money.

You should have a quick squizz at 'Allo 'Allo, set in wartime France in a cafe with Germans, French and Brits all speaking English but in their own accents..it is hilarious....a spoof of a serious series shown some years ago...
When Basil mentioned to the two ladies about 'dining at The Gleneagles tonight' that is the real hotel the show is based on.
"Good morning Major!" "Very well thank you!" - such an understated set of lines but SO funny! Thanks for your reaction lads
Fawlty Towers is short but each episode is gold so I hope you two enjoy it
Basil was going off to Mr. O'Reilly's to insert the garden gnome into him in the final scene 🤣
I love the way you guys enjoy this 50 Yr old classic UK comedy series...they can be watched dozens of times...there's always something you've missed or forgotten.. priceless gems
Anxiety is exactly what Fawlty Towers is all about. Basil is a neurotic who makes every situation worse, just due to his own behavior :)

Just one correction, you’ll find the major isn’t ‘optimistic’…he’s barking mad!..😂
3:28 "You have to go to Gleneagles for your dins dins." But this is the Gleneagles. That was the name of the Torquay hotel this hotel is based on.

Yes, I was going to point that out. The owner, Donald Sinclair, inspired the character. The Gleneagles has now been demolished and replaced by a block of retirement homes, named "Sachs Lodge" in memory of Andrew Sachs (Manuel) who died around the time of them being built (2016).
You two *really* need to do Red Dwarf! It’s right up both your streets!
Each episode starts of calm then just gets crazier and crazier as it goes along haha love it. Would love to see the series Bottom hit this channel, only three series with Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson
Every one of the 12 episodes are brilliant but the very best are definitely yet to come.
The actor playing Mr. O'Reilly was also in Waking Ned Devine.

Yes, I came here to see if anyone bothered to point it out! Also, I think they miss so many gags, although some are more subtle than others or you need to have watched the series at least a dozen times to appreciate some of the humour... Many of the 'in' jokes were only revealed in interviews with the actors and writers later on; such as it being the paperboy (though rarely seen), is revealed to be the prankster who rearranges the letters on the "Fawlty Towers" sign to sometimes crude phrases.
Classic British comedy. Just when you think it can't get any worse, or the lead character has actually come out on top. The whole thing goes to shit due to arrogance, ignorance, stubborn bloody-mindedness, or a combination of them all. Absolute classics. There's not many episodes, but they are culturally meaningful and loved for good reason. Enjoy!
Love that you guys love this! Just a suggestion....have a look at The Young Ones....30 minutes of demented, comic vIolence, anarchy! Vyvyan is a class act in this!
So so lucky to have grown up with this masterpiece of a show and it is even better to watch people enjoying it for the first time
I could watch all Fawlty Towers over and over again all day long!
I hope your both enjoying fawlty towers. It was a must watch for us in the uk years ago. 😂

They were married during the first series but got divorced before series two. They actually wrote the series together while going through a divorce which is mind blowing to me.
At the end, Mr Faulty was going to insert that garden gnome he was carrying up Mr O'Reilly's arse. 😂😂
Fawlty towers reminds me a bit of the Brittas empire tv series staring the fella from the red dwarf tv series
that just leaves "Rising Damp" surely your going to react to it i mean the whole series? its not that long a series. but garanteed you love it!
I think you missed the joke at the end. He was off to see Mr O’Reilly with the large garden Gnome which he threatened to insert in him if anything went wrong with the building work.
8:40 - It's Bullet Baxter!
Brilliant fellas 🔥enjoying this sadly shallow rabbit hole with you, again😂❤️
Great reaction to a fantastic comedy series, which is called "Fawlty Towers". My old dad (masonry apprenticeship at 14 for 3 years, a year of construction work, night school on the side to get his college qualification for 1 and a half year, then at 19 to engineering school graduating after 3 years, almost 2 years of military service and then 35 years of working as a civil engineer before his health caused him to break prematurely) he once said, in the sanitized version, how you build houses in America is not necessarily the way you are used to in Germany (mind you the sanitized version). This episode reminds me of that. Fawlty Towers is a great show, looking forward to more reactions.
In future episodes look out for the letters on the hotel sign in the opening credits!
I literally just finished watching your reaction to the first episode and I find this, you guys are great! Keep 'em coming!
Don't know if anyone said before but the lady called Polly and John Cleese were married at one time.

I'm having a brain freeze and can't remember her name either, which is pathetic because she co-wrote the series with John Cleese and they were married at the time. She also uttered the line "I'm not a witch, they just tied a carrot to the end of my nose" in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. She's American, believe it or not.

Fawlty Towers was brilliant. Part of the golden age of British comedy. I highly recommend Dad's Army, as it seems like youve never watched it :) it's a comedy show about the Home Guard, the civilian militia during WW2, comprised of mostly old men and those exempt from military service. It's British comedy at its finest.
for a small door opening a wood lintel might be strong enough, depends where the apexs of the roof resolve loads to
I hope one day they do Bottom by rik mayall and Eddie. With maybe all 5 live stage shows. Or go older but still a gold era of British humour, Dads army.

I dont remember the bit where Sybil is attacking Basil? remember the rest though. I am rewatching them with you.
Havent watched these for decades, so stressful to watch! Somehow easier with you both, thanks for your company.. it really is an excellent series
John Cleese was married to the actress who plays Polly at the time, Connie Booth. She was part of the shows creation🤗
Basil left with the gnome in order to "insert" it into O'Reilly haha
Omg I LOVE this one!!! Love you guys❤️
Talking about village idiots, the chap playing O'Reilly the builder, David Kelly was a main character in a British show called Robins Nest (a spin off series from a show called Man About the House) which was about a small resturant where David Kelly played a one armed dish washer\ kitchen hand and was absolutly brilliant. An aside to this, Robins Nest was later picked up and remade\adapted in the US as Threes a Crowd starring John Ritter which of course was a spin off from Threes Company which in turn was an adaptation of Man About the House. Another spin off from Man About the House was a show called George and Mildred (another must watch!) which was adapted in the US as The Ropers. All the above of course comedy gold!
I can't WAIT for you to get to the episode with the Germans. XD

1991: Firefighters battled to save the 'face of Fawlty Towers' as it was hit by a major fire. Wooburn Grange, in Wooburn Green, was familiar to millions of television viewers as it was used for the exterior shots for the much-loved John Cleese sitcom.

Manuel was there near the end. He didnt need to be in the last scene as like Polly wasn't there, 3 was enough.
Keep an eye on the Fawlty Towers sign at the end of the opening credits. Some local rascal changes the letters round every week.
O'Reilly did a good job and Stubbs is a charlatan con man ! The doorway was just reinstated after the original was removed . therefore, there was always a lintel above the doorway. Stubbs has just created a huge job by playing on Cybils fears.
I hope you noticed my post on ‘Multi Region / Region Free’ DVD Players etc. I posted it in the comments for the first episode, but, it has disappeared and is no longer there?
Basil and Polly were husband and wife in real life. Non British people often comment on how our shows have small series (seasons). This show, for example, had 2 series with 6 episodes in each. In the USA it would probably run for 5 seasons with 20 episodes in each. lol I would rather have 12 episodes where there's a joke every minute or two than 40 episodes with a joke every 10 minutes...

Connie Booth is also American.
"Door Dash" First attempt to do that in an upcoming episode.
"Sometimes it's just not your day". I don't think Mr. Fawlty has had a "his day" in his life, and it's most likely his own fault most of the time.
You can't calm down when you're married to Sybil!
You said that you didn't have a DVD player, but shouldn't the DVDs play in a Blue Ray player? Or can you get a DVD drive for your computer (external plug in one would do).
'It's just not your day' - I think you'll like this one. Without going into too much detail, so as to protect the guilty, on a particular tour of duty, there was a railway line, that was being pretty extensively and exclusively used, for military logistics, moving lots of equipment and supplies from the port, in country to where it was needed. On this one particular day, the train derailed. It did so because some US Army Engineers were working on the railway, except they didn't tell anyone they were, and so when the train came along.... you've guessed it. Given this was a major incident, some of my Military Police colleagues headed off to the scene, as is customary given the circumstances, as did various other interested parties, in order to a) find out exactly what had happened, and b) to start what would no doubt be a heck of a lot of work to rectify the situation. It is worth nothing that this was in the British sector too. Whilst there, various senior people came along, mainly out of idle curiosity, with answers predominantly coming from a very red faced and embarrassed young US Army Lt, in charge of the engineer unit responsible for the whole debacle. To be honest it was sheer luck that nobody had been killed or injured. My colleagues described how a US Army General turned up, and seeing a familiar style of uniform amongst the multi national crowd, headed off to the young Lt. Here we go, they thought. This could be the most spectacular dressing down seen in NATO for quite a few decades. Eyes down, look in, get ready.... The General got to the Lt, and just said 'Not your day son is it. Not your day', and just wandered off, much to the amazement of everyone else. I guess given the situation, from which there really was absolutely no escape, it was the case that the Lt already pretty much knew his fate, and there was just no need for the General to make it even more clearer, lol.
Polly the blonde was married to John Cleese when this was made.
John Cleese and Connie Booth were married when doing Fawlty Towers, Prunella Scales and her actor husband Timothy West (Starring in the lost episodes of Dad’s Army as well as lots of appearances on stage and some on tv) both have dementia they were doing a tv series on touring the country in their canal boat but stopped as her dementia got worse. Andrew Sachs who played Manuel died a few years ago, Fawlty Towers was filmed in the 1970s it is believed to be making a return to tv but without John Cleese starring in it, it is still playing on satellite tv as well as The BBC channels.
Keep an eye on the sign in front of the hotel in the opening titles, it changes!
