I remember nearly choking to death when i heard him do that German ringtone for the first time

His spoken German is right on point!! It was perfect. As for his upper class Brit voice (as a Brit myself) was astoundingly good! ("we own Cirencester" and "my family own the north east of Scotland") And the New York drone!! I nearly wet myself laughing... best NY accent I have ever heard.

I live in Austria, but learned German, which is very different from what is spoken here 😀and Al speaks very good German 👏

Although Germany often bears the brunt of Al Murray's routines as as a serious historian he has a fascination for the real Germany. He did a two part documentary a few years back (Al Murray's German Adventure) where he sets out to discover the truth behind the wartime jokes and banter that still plague all things German. Well worth a watch if you can find it.

The first time I heard this. I lost total control and did that silent laugh that makes you pink with tears rolling down my face when new York answers.

The internet went out - how bloody rude - you didn't even get invited. We're not racist, we take the piss out of everyone including ourselves🇬🇧 As for teaching, we walked in to our school science lab, to find our teacher swinging from a rope yelling "I'm a Pendulum", Al reminds me of him so much.

Not all. The other guys on the Frankfurt trading floor were all named after famous ww2 german bombers or fighter planes (to fit in with Fritz Messerschmitt), but that seemingly passed them by.

@@revbenf6870 and the dog name reference, from the same era, but more obscure. From Dambusters, was the actual name of one of the pilots (squadron leaders?) dogs, and a call sign I think for the successful raid on one of the dams.

Al loves history, he has done a fantastic couple of series called "why does everyone hate the English" & "Why does England win every war" . If you can get either of them they are definitely worth a watch

The joke about the black Labrador is a reference to the Classic British war movie The Dam busters. The crew of the plane had a black Labrador. The dogs name in the film was that word. It’s now been overdubbed for modern times. Loved this!

I think this is his best sketch and is probably very close to what actually happens on the markets. Al Murray is brilliant and his caricatures are what makes his act so good. Very clever guy.

I work on the London global financial markers in IT not real trading, this is actually pretty accurate, especially the not very clever London Essex barrow boys! Hilarious!

I really enjoy seeing you guys getting such a kick out of Al's stuff. I hope some day you get round to watching Al Murray National Anthems, I think you may have quite an experience with it.

This is just awesome. I'm a walking sack of misery living here in London, UK. This had me in hysterics.. Al Murray's delivery is just so so good. He has comic timing down to a fine art. It was funny enough; But to see the reaction from these two American guys is the icing-on-the-cake.

Al Murray portrays 'The British Pub Landlord' his earlier show Al Murray's pub quiz was hilarious and also full of general knowledge. Also saw this live at Edinburgh Fringe Festival...embarrassingly came last in the pub quiz he gave me a Pop Tart. Fun guy by far!!

For the record incase it was missed, the german guy shouting "wo ist steiner" and then shooting himself is a reference to the most famous scene from the film downfall, where hitler blows up when he finds out that the planned counter attack by general steiner, on which he had placed all his hopes, wasnt going to happen because steiners forces were nowhere near as strong as hitler thought they were when he gave the order. The shooting is obv a reference to hitlers suicide.

Excellent observation!

The German guy is talking about football result where they won - and starts singing "You're shit, and you know you are". It's was a common chant at football grounds in England from the fans of the winning team. Said in German it's particularly true as Germany have a VASTLY better football history than England. As The Guv' would say "war history, not so f**kin' good"

Hi gents i hope you are well? I finally got to see Al live in April! He is so good throughout his show, i got my bf to come as well, whos lived in the middle east for the last 20+ years and didnt know Als work. He howled through out the show, as did the rest of us. It was a 2hr show and he spent the first half taking the piss out of the front 8 rows and he is so good at that. He did his homework to given he was here for 1 night only. Weve become a logistics hub due to the good road links we have. He also talked about brexit, not surprising as our area is a large brexit supporting area. It was a great night and something ive wanted to do ever since i first saw Al all those years ago. Ps id recommend looking up an interview with Al done by a gentleman called Rob Bryden, who is also a good comic/actor. He talks about how he created the pub landlord character. I think you may enjoy it.

You guys have to listen to Kevin Bridges on Greece and the global money. It is brilliant

I can answer that Spencer, I live in Mallorca and if there is one thing we have here, is Germans, as all the British holiday makers know. And the answer is Yes, AL's Germans impresion is spot on👌perfect, they love to think they're always right about everything. Sorry Germans, don't get angry but that bit is true.

Easy lads, hope you've had a good Monday, he was absolutely talking about the football chant Daniel, it was Englands World Cup tune and it was so good that even the Germans nicked it and started singing it, however when you scrutinise it's actually nice that our song was sung by World Cup Winners becuse I don't see England winning it anytime soon. We've got closer but we just haven't got that killer instinct and know-how to see a game out that the Germans, Italians and Spanish have.

The accents he uses for the London traders are a play on cockneys (who burn stuff down) while the boss is a posh person who goes shooting. The black lab is a reference to a famous WW2 bomber pilot's dog called N***er who was killed the night of the famous raid (Guy Gibson of Dambusters ). Before 1988 the people who worked in finance were generally posh people but after deregulation allowed a lot of ordinary London lads to get in on the game.
