They’ve been big clubs for at least 85% of their histories, some are even approaching or surpassed a 100 years of being considered a “big club”. The likes of Chelsea, PSG and Man City are modern powerhouses in football, not historical.

@@user-bx7tj2qf1p You making this comment does not make it true. Despite the fact that Arsenal did go a significant period without major silverware their name and global presence was still. A lot of this is due to the high influence arsenal fans have (shown by its fan channel Aftv as well as countless other Arsenal fan channels) and the influence players that have played at the club have had. Even someone like Ozil is weirdly enough (not for me because I’ve always loved him even before Arsenal) considered a sporting icon because of his unique style, his massive following, his upbringing and his work as a humanitarian/ ambassador for the worlds biggest brands. This is only one example. I will be completely honest, I can write an entire essay as to why Arsenal are factually actually an institution, even if they aren’t as big as the likes of Madrid, Utd and Barca etc but it would take ages and you probably wouldn’t read it because it would be INCREDIBLY long. I’ve done this a million times lol

Rory hit the nail on the head when he said if players only wanted to play for the biggest clubs then they would sign for Utd and not City. Recently City are more successful but Utd are the bigger club. Same goes here, Chelsea have had more success recently, but Arsenal are the bigger club.

Only one club in London with over ten league titles. Almost three times as many as Chelsea. Almost twice as many Fa cups. Can't say Chelsea is a bigger club when it's only came to talk in the last tens years while Arsenal have been the most dominant London team for many decades, Chelsea have been relegated in my lifetime so it's extremely difficult to see Chelsea as a bigger club. But it depends how you define 'bigger' club

youssefhijazi1132 Arsenal USED to have a better stadium, in fact they had the best stadium in the country when they had Highbury. Now they have a stadium that is modern, smart, big, sophisticated, but it is also void of any character. It is just another modern stadium built to a similar template as so many countless other modern stadiums are. Stamford Bridge has history, it has character, it is the one & only home Chelsea have ever had. Arsenal have had 3 different homes, they travel around more than Gypsies do. Arsenal have a bigger fanbase? Historically they don't. In both of the club's early life it was Chelsea who far outweighed the support Arsenal had. That changed after the war or thereabouts. According to all the social media platforms & to the worldwide sales of club shirts it is once again Chelsea who has the bigger numbers.

They won the FA Cup in 97, the Cup Winners' Cup in 98, they finished third in the league 4 points behind treble winners Manchester United in the 1998/99 season and they went toe to toe witn Barcelona in the quarterfinals of the 2000 Champions League and then was in the final of the FA Cup of 2002.

Arsenal was actually relegated from the league back in 1912/13 playing as Woolwich Arsenal. Everton was also relegated twice, first in 1929/30 and then in 1950/51 season.

I’d say Arsenal Liverpool and United are the 3 biggest premier league clubs . Remember English clubs were banned in the champions league at a time when arsenal were peak !

As much as it hurt to say it, these lot have one up us with those two CL trophies. BAku was just the cherry on top. Generally though, as far as impact is concerned on the way people see the game and enjoy it, they will never be as big as The Arsenal. People don't get the influence of that club. No club in England can compare to the influence that The Arsenal has on the game. The Arsenal is literally an institution of football!

2 CL don't make Chelsea bigger than Arsenal. It's a weak argument. Chelsea has been lucky with a generous owner and the fact there was no FFP until 2011. FFP is not perfect, but it would have slowed them down.

I’m an Arsenal fan and Chelsea are bigger than Arsenal right now. In the U.K. , Arsenal are have more fans but globally Chelsea are bigger. 20 years is a long time and in those years Chelsea have been dominant and have reached heights that Arsenal have never ever reached.

The three biggest clubs in the country when you accumulate factors like culture, tradition, history, size are: Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. I do agree Man City and Chelsea could change that in the years to come but at this moment in time, that’s the top 3 in my opinion!

Chelsea were winning trophies before the money. FA Cup and Uefa Cup in 97. And made top four in 2003. Had big players like Zola and Gullit. It wasn’t the same as Man City where it felt like the trailer park winning the lottery. The Chelsea takeover was easier to stomach and made sense.

They weren't winning trophies like that. Why does ppl make it out like Chelsea was that type of club 😂. Yes they were a cup team at times by ending they're 27 year record of no trophy and was in the CL here and then but they were obviously not known for being a big club.

As far as I remember MC won the league twice pre-PL and couple of FA Cups as well plus one European title in 1970, which I remember watching as a kid, but not a fan :)

Only one club in London with over ten league titles. Almost three times as many as Chelsea. Almost twice as many Fa cups. Can't say Chelsea is a bigger club when it's only came to talk in the last tens years while Arsenal have been the most dominant London team for many decades, Chelsea have been relegated in my lifetime so it's extremely difficult to see Chelsea as a bigger club. But it depends how you define 'bigger' club

I think the answer to this question is definitely a lot closer than Arsenal fans want to admit, Chelsea have made staggering progress to catch Arsenal over the years.

Progress you have made is realized by spending funds the club hasn't generated. Abramovich money. FFP was introduced in 2011.

Arsenal have won two European trophies before they were called UEFA. They were prestigious competitions for the time. The 3 biggest clubs in England are 1 Man UTD 2 Liverpool 3 The mighty Arsenal Chelsea aren’t in the conversation Facts! This video forgot to mention all the work Arsenal did for multicultural community’s and the woman's game. The club is utter class! It’s more than just trophies.
