@@DeathnoteBB Yeah apparently they lost the ability to taste umami as they adapted to a totally vegetarian diet and gained a heightened sensitivity to bitterness, which is one of the ways you can tell a plant is toxic. Conversely, carnivores with no vegetable diet cannot taste bitterness, like whales.

This is a perfect example of how good they are with improv, we went from “Why are Siberian Tigers so powerful if they hunt such weak prey?” to “Farmers are begging us not to tell pigeons about their corn” in barely four minutes

To be fair, to be fair here. Not even zoologists know exactly why pandas are just like that; they're omnivores turned fully herbivores but could still eat meat even if they wanted to but also still choose to eat thicc-ass grass, they're naturally piebald (meaning like they're splotchy by nature; you know like how cows and a lot of farm animals have like black and white spots? That's what piebald is, and for the most part only domestic animals have that occurring consistently and it's believed we bred them that way to tell them apart from wild variants. Nobody is out there just breeding pandas to look like that, they just ended up like that.), their ancient ancestors lived as far west as Europe and their closest-living genetic relative is the Andean bear in South America, and frankly they're dumb as absolute shit (I'm sorry, they're cute and all, such beautiful creatures, but holy shit in like sanctuaries and zoos and stuff they get up to the dumbest shenanigans even without human involvement). The most popular theory as to why they look like that is maybe it was for mating purposes like how female lions seemingly consider male lions with darker manes more attractive than males with lighter manes; it could also serve as some kind of, I can't think of the word, like reverse camouflage to make them look more threatening, but also they're still a fucking bear with claws and teeth. Also, pigeons are invasive species, just an fyi. You can legally hunt and kill them (the meat and bird itself are fine, their feces is the actual health and safety problem; if there's a stable pigeon population, then they're surviving and thriving on like actual food), but then again why would you? There's a lot more better options for game animals, even better options for food, they're harmless enough, and frankly explaining to a cop why you're throwing rocks at pigeons (yeah, it's that easy to kill a pigeon) in like central park is just a lot of un-needed grief and paperwork.

1:15 Pandas, like koalas, are animals that are in a Stockholm syndrome relationship with an arsonist. Bamboo is weird- an entire bamboo forest might just be offshoots of a single plant. It can take it a century to flower and bear fruit. And then it dies. The entire forest dies. Which means LOTS of kindling is now laying around. For the bamboo, this is an advantage- if it happens to catch fire, then all competitors for its kids are now fertilizer. But this obviously means that havoc is wrought on the local ecosystem- small animals burn up or starve when the plants are gone. So the panda sat there, and thought "Fuck, I guess I have nothing else to eat". And thus it became what it is today. Sidenote- the eucalyptus trees has similar goals, but it is much more vicious. They have oil covered leaves, and they are very resistant to fire. They are basically a guy in a fire fighter's uniform spreading gasoline everywhere.

Pandas have been found (mostly ancestors) to have to eaten meat. The only reason we don't see Pandas eating as much is because they are picky eaters. They think bamboo tastes so good they'd have it over meat. Bamboo however doesn't give them to much energy or so they have to eat over 30 lbs of it every day.

For those of you who were also wondering about the siberian tiger the size of the tiger is more than likely due to the coldness of its environment as animals tend to grow larger in size the colder the environment so that they can maintain their body heat (cause of thermodynamic shenanigans). There may also be other factors but this is a factor that relates to animals as a whole (or at least warm blooded animals) so it's almost certainly part of it

Hi! I've definitely seen this happening all over KZread, I'm guessing the automated captioning has started censoring swears - I don't think it's geo's doing. That being said, if I can find a way to turn the censoring off on the automated captioning, I'll let you know!

So, i just looked it up, and unfortunately as a viewer you can't do anything about the automated subtitles censoring swears; only the content creator can manually change a setting so that swears are not automatically censored. It's a sucky new development from KZread :/

@@mariekejee18 Yeah, a lot of Deaf/HoH people have spoken out about this, it's a really bad move by youtube but a really unsurprising one considering they did it at the same time as their removal of the community caption feature, completely removing accessibility for Deaf/HoH people across the platform! Yay... Honestly, content creators whenever possible should be using manual captions. Autocaptions are not and will never be equivalent or acceptable alternatives. Yeah, it's tedious or costs money, and not everyone can, but Most creators can and don't, and it isn't that expensive (and improves viewership dramatically, so it's actually a really good decision from a business point of view, but y'know, we shouldn't have to be profitable to have basic equal access either).
