Hypnotoad Being born in America is pretty much the MAIN requirement for being an American. And “love of freedom” and “all people being created equal” aren’t nearly the only things defining Americanness in the minds of most people whether they be in America or elsewhere in the world. There’s a lot of baggage that comes with being American. Recognizing and accepting that is the first step to realizing our place in society and the world at large.

Hypnotoad , I’m Portuguese, love freedom and believe all men are created equally. If I became a legend I would be offended if Americans claimed me . It’s just saying that “This person who did something great is now American because as we all know only Americans can be legends.” I’m proud of being Portuguese, and it hurts to see my legends be taken away from me by ignorant people who believe that Nationality can be obtained by personality traits . I’d love to be a legend in America but I’d never like to be turned American by being a legend. (P.s , I know that the brothers were joking about the Marie Curie part BTW .)

Seriously! And I gotta say it's also pretty 'murican (specifically white'murican dude) to think that this magical summoning would be specifically helpful with today's political issues lol. The moment a modern woman even spoke to Jefferson, he'd probably call her a witch for wearing pants. Some come from centuries ago, when owning people was akin to being a homeowner. It would take that entire "new moon" cycle for the debilitating shock from the knowledge of a black president _alone_ to wear off. Hell, just the concept of a trans person might straight up cause a stroke in some of those "american heros". 🤣🤣

They literally instituted the 3/5 compromise so that slavery could, at one point in the future, could be abolished. The logic was that southern states, where slavery was legal, couldn't have a disproportionate amount of power in the House of Representatives and institute federal laws furthering the proliferation of slavery. Also, about half of the founding fathers never owned slaves, and a significant portion of the other half didn't own slaves after the states were formed (most northern states were free states from the get go, and that's where a lot of founding fathers lived, especially Massachusettes and New York). The only significant exception were the Virgia boys, and even Jefferson had his slaves freed after his wife died.

Very few of our current problems can be solved by cutting some trees down. I don't actually care much either way about Edison, and think this whole setup with him as Villain Capitalist contrasted against Under Appreciated Little Guy Genius Tesla is a bit of an exaggerated dichotomy (especially ironic considering Tesla has been turned into the brand of Elon Musk, who fits the role of Villain Capitalist Edison more than real Edison ever could). But I dislike Cumberbatch so that movie would probably be enough to get me on board the hate train.
