Just want to point this out... I went back to Gil's rookie year to see that matchup against Stockton where he said he had about 27 (Turns out it was the next year). But in his rookie year, the highest he scored on Stockton in a game was 16 points... In that same game... Stockton dropped 28 on him. Yes Gil got his revenge, but don't play it off like you're busting a prime Stockton when he was giving you trouble at 38 years old.

If you can't understand the fact that they ain't gonna shoot 30 3s a game in 1985 then you are the one who knows little about baskebtall. It's hard to compare different eras. Like you have to take into account 90's rules, physicality of the game, teams systems. I never saw anyone destroy Stockton or Payton in their heyday, but Gil was a helluva a player in his prime so I can give home the benefit of the doubt. All due respect to Big Al but I don't remember him as a premier scoring option, moreso defence if anything. Would've liked his take on prime Mailman or Nique or Barkley

Gilbert would never have a shot at Cousy in the 50s. Living under Jim Crow would short out Gil's circuits.
