It had to do with the sudden recession of the last glacial maximum. Also its been proven that the erosion marks from the sphinx are from heavy water flow, not wind and sand as previously believed. Grave robbers. Initially, kings and queens and their families were buried in elaborate tombs to give them a happy send off into the afterlife. But they were raided and precious items belonging to the royal families were stolen. So, to preserve the mummies and whatever items they had left, they were moved to the Valley of the Kings for safe keeping. 😊
