    What I've noticed with wire that has irregular thickness is if its a known brand I think it is their second grade that didnt quite pass inspection so they send it to ebay. Kinda wish you'd have done an actual current flow rating as well because some wire being tinned could be capable of flowing higher current or the purity of the copper used makes a big difference as well some wire may have lead or other metals mixed in simply to make it seem heavier but this does not mean that it will flow more current than pure copper will.... I still believe that Stinger HPM series is the best flowing 1/0 ofc wire based on my own use and testing....

    theres a reason why its more expensive, 5 times the strand count making it much easier to work with among other things. typically the higher the strand count, the better.. Especially with speaker wire. that's why we don't use lamp cord...hahaha Welding cable definitely has it's place and is great for battery cables and jumper wires, etc. I'd be interested in seeing tests on how ea handle power in comparison though.

  • @INFRNL1

    @INFRNL1

    @Travis Hamler I can't remember exactly where my mind was 6 months ago. I'm pretty sure the welding cable in question was around 1000 strands and skyhigh is 5400 strands...so yes, 5 times the strand count. Higher strand count definitely aides in flexibility, correct. This is also critical in some installs. Strand count can also be better for signal transfer and bandwidth as well as the ability to flow more current.... depending. I bought both skyhigh and knukoneptz 1/0. Skyhigh has a higher strand count and larger actual diameter of copper overall. So in certain circumstances, it will do better being a larger cable even though they are rated as 1/0. Hope that part makes sense. I'm not saying strands count is the absolute answer, but it can play a fairly significant role depending on needs. I also stated that welding cable is one of the best options for battery cables. There are different variables at play and i understand your side. We have different successful options

    I think that copper weight to price ratio is a negligent comparison, audiophiles and bass heads don't often buy 1/0 OFC based purely off of price. I would like to see more useful comparisons like: •Conductivity •Amp rating at a 25ft length •purity of the copper •corrosion resistance •jacket durability •etc.

    @@HifiVega currently I don't, I have to take what I've been told and run with that BUT I'm also not trying to do tests on copper wiring (just saying). but yeah as involved as it maybe, you'd probably have to send samples off to a lab and get it tested and it would be this big ol thing, so it's understandable as to why you haven't done it. in conclusion, all I was saying is the price to weaght ratio of 1/0 AWG cable is a negligent comparison and a true comparison of quality would be purity and overall conductivity (with all due respect, cause I know how people can be on the internet), as we've concluded that isn't easily doable, I'll agree to disagree. maybe in the future, maybe it can be crowdfunded or something.

To all my budget bass heads please don’t get caught up in the hype an waist your hard earned pay check on over rated audio like sundown audio. I’m not saying it’s not quality audio, I’m saying it’s overpriced and you can definitely shop around an literally get more bang for your buck elsewhere. If you don’t believe me then go pay $1,000 bucks for 1 sub an when you blow it tell me how you feel when you call them and they don’t send you a new sub bc they tell you it was human error. #IT SUCKS trust me!
