3-2 for Fox, imo. Pika had 64 and Brawl over Fox easily. But Fox IS Melee, he was an undisputed top 10 in Smash 4 and arguably has more consistent results in Ultimate, while also having similar if not better peaks/wins than Pikachu.

This was a lot closest then I thought it was. It really depends how you see the games and I completely understand valuing Fox's numerous peaks. I personally still give the edge to Pika due Fox's debatable viability in Brawl, while Pika has been consistently viable in all games. But hey, not gonna argue 2 Legends can't co-exist. lol

Pikachu isn't great in melee, though. Because of that, I think Fox's peaks give him the overall edge.

Fox is definitely viable in brawl. He’s definitely not as good as pikachu but he has plenty of tools and is underrated imo. In fact I think he’s only slightly worse than dedede (who reminder is very good, having an even matchup with snake and only losing more than 60/40 to MK and Icies).

@@Legendary_Honeyyeah pikachu is hard carried by axe who I would argue might even be better if he didn’t play him. Like if he focused on falco I could see him having more success (unlike Esam who more so complements the character rather than is held back by it).

Love both of these characters super fun to play as and watch competitively. If any two original characters were gonna be the best I think pika and fox were good choices :)

I have thought about this A LOT and I honestly came to almost the exact same conclusion, I give a slight edge to Fox. That being said, as a 64 Fox main for about two years back in 2014-2015ish, my most prominent memories of despair are being sent offstage by Pika players and knowing that, no matter the distance, they can chase me, take the stock, and safely recover.

For a Worst of All Time Character, it'd probably be Link: -Bottom Tier in 64 & Brawl -Low Tier in Melee -Mid Tier in Sm4sh & Ult DK is a close second and his tier placements are very debatable: -Low Tier in 64 & Brawl -Low-Mid Tier in Melee & Ult -Upper-Mid or Low-High in Sm4sh Depends on how pessimistic you are on DK I suppose.

I would have said Captain Falcon but this video seems more focused on results and tiers rather than hype and fun. Which is agreeable and makes sense... but Captain Falcon is so ICONIC

imo Pikachu is the goat but it's cool how both of them have been pretty consistent for 25 years now and I hope if there's another smash game those 2 continue to stay relevant. Great video Larry

fox and pika are def the best choices but there are some other arguments/honorable mentions imo-diddy has been crazy in every appearance even though he hasn't been in every game (3-5 top tier is still nice tho). Marth is so close to being up here but ultimate killed his streak which is sad, but hes def worth mentioning.

Have had this conversation several times, but never with this much detail😅 can't speak to comp brawl and 4 well, but between the rest it feels like a wash. Personal opinion is that fox has more potential across these games tho

All of them kinda suck in Brawl but let's look at what they've got going for them in other games 64: Falcon, Samus, Yoshi have all won majors. Luigi is considered the worst character in the game. Melee: Falcon and Yoshi have won majors, Samus and Luigi have had big wins but never at that level. 4: None of the four have won a major, with Luigi and Falcon considered high tiers, while Yoshi and Samus are mid tiers. Yoshi in particular suffered from bad matchups against DLC characters. Ultimate: Yoshi has won a major. Samus, Captain Falcon, and Luigi have managed regional success. Given that a Yoshi player has won a major in 3/5 Smash games (64: Wizzrobe, Kurabba. Melee: aMSa. Ultimate: Yoshidora.) I'd rank Yoshi as the 3rd best overall, though any of the others (with the exception of Luigi in 64) could likely make a good run.

Ngl I think it’s fox just cause I think he’s underrated in the games he’s allegedly a dud in anyways (brawl and 64). I’m brawl he is criminally underrated and high mid tier Imo and in 64 he arguably has the best potential in the game. Falco definitely would be if smash 4 and ultimately didn’t nerf him to the ground, but given that he’s not even close. A lot of the enduring brawl top tiers (Diddy mainly) I think are cheating, not being in the original 2 games. The character with the best argument against fox is pikachu, but his legacy being carried by 1 or 2 players in every game but 64 doesn’t do him any favors imo. Also falcon is just too shitty in brawl to be in the convo imo. I could see it being either fox or pikachu tho, if not maybe peach or sheik (who I forgot to mention, but their reasonings for and against them are self explanatory).

Smash 64: Pika is indisputably the best character in the game in a tier of his own (S+ tier), Fox is a B-tier Melee: Fox is the best character but not enough separation (S-tier), Pika is a B-tier Brawl: Pika is an A-tier, Fox is a B-tier Smash 4: Pika and Fox are both S-tier (Bayo/Cloud were S+ tier) Ultimate: Pika and Fox are both S-tier (both top 10-15 characters IMO) OVERALL: Pika beats out Fox but it's close. I think Brawl puts Pika over the top. Fox wasn't very competitive in Brawl and Pika has had top players with results in every single Smash game.

I would say in terms of their peak you have it backwards. 64 is a far more balanced game then melee and pikachu by no means has a choke hold over the game. Melee on the other hand is basically ruled by the top 5 with a few scattered exceptions (one of those being pikachu) and among the top 5 fox is probably the best (though admittedly not by much). I think the difference is that while fox doesn’t smother the roaster, the top position in melee he has is significantly “stronger” than the 64 one pikachu has, which seems to be the opposite of what you’re implying. Pikachu arguably even loses a matchup (falcon) while fox almost certainly doesn’t. Also fox is underrated if he’s B tier in 64 tbh, he’s definitely top 4 imo, like MAYBE Yoshi is better but that’s a big maybe, and everything else is either a wash or pikachu falcon and Kirby (who are all admittedly better than him).

Puff should definitely not be mentioned, she's been bottom tier in 2 games lol. Yoshi is debatably 3rd behind Fox and Pikachu(could be behind Falcon), but it's clear he's not in the running for GOAT because of his tier placements in Brawl and Smash 4(considered D in both, maybe C in 4) so I don't really see a point in mentioning him

I think Mario definitely comes before Yoshi regardless, unlike Yoshi, he only has one very low placement and that’s in brawl in every other game he’s mid tier or higher (64-mid, melee-mid, brawl-bottom, smash 4-top, ultimate-high)

Why do you say that? Fox isn't even that far from Pika on the tier list, and he has plenty of tools to stay relevant. That completely changes with Melee. Fox completely eclipses Pika. Even with the addition of more characters in Brawl, there is a much bigger gap of characters between Fox and Pika in Melee than in Brawl.

Smash 64 has kirby and puff who suck in most games but have been S tier once, Link has been a low mid tier in pretty much every game so its debatable but i think we should expand to the melee roster for this conversation. Both ganon and Zelda have been bottom 3 in 3 out of the 4 games they are in, it comes down melee ganon and ultimate zelda (their only non bottom tier appearances)
