Same. I embarrassed my brother at that time because someone from our neighbourhood once told him heard me singing aloud with all my lungs from a wide open window, in our apartment on the 5th floor, the entire concert from the VHS I bought when the Live album came out. The volume was boosted to the very max and I believe the building was vibrating because of it. It's been electric and electrifying. It was a Sunday morning, when I lived a few months alone. That video has become my life soundtrack back then, watched a zillion times. it was impossible for me to not look at Michael Hutchence like an inspirational guy, besides I looked a lot like him back then, with my hair actually twice his length, and that look in the cover was so iconic and so similar to my own style _{fit pants, untucked fantasy shirt and my long hair to frame the whole thing}_ I felt like he could be me and I could be him right there and people would have seen no difference. I guess I was kinda crazy back then but I do not regret any of that for a moment, ever! Best time of my life, only my very first Live concert I attended a few years later, in a real stadium, for the Black Sabbath Reunion concert at the Gods Of Metal 1998 with Pantera right before Ozzy who literally "baptised" me with a bucket full of water {I was lucky enough to be in the very middle of the forefront down below the stage thanks to my friend who came with me there. If you find the YT video you can see when it happened!}_ could match that absolute joy in music. it's been once in a lifetime and it's been as precious afc! Thanks for reacting to both songs... "What You Need" was what I really needed!

🤣There are brothers in the band! The brothers are Tim on guitar with the white tee, Andrew on keyboard, and Jon the drummer. The other three are the other "brothers" and they were all teens when formed. They could not tour until Jon finished school. Micheal was about 17 and Tim was the oldest at 21 when they started, so they basically grew up together. My favorite band of all time and every song stands alone. This is the genre they developed, no one else has been able to duplicate their sound.

My very first rock concert was INXS. I loved their song "Listen Like Thieves" because it was a radio hit but then my friend turned me on to one of their older songs "Don't Change" then invited me to go with him to the concert when they came to town. I think they played the entire Kick album but the final encore was "Don't Change." They were such a great band.

It can't be understated how popular INXS was globally. They were really one of only a few of the biggest bands in the world in the late 80s and into the 90s, period. They'd been together for years in Australia and had success, but they hit huge, huge in '87 w/their album KICK. It had so many huge hit singles, one after the other, their videos were on MTV 24/7, they were just omnipresent. So yes, this is how popular they were, to have Wembley rocking like this. The lead singer, Micheal Hutchence, died in '97, very, very sad loss. People like Bono from U2, who was a close friend, wrote a couple songs about/for him, they performed w/Queen & Bon Jovi (I'm saying those examples to show you how big they were, lol) at various live shows...they were IT. The entire concert is fire and the 2 you picked are great, thanks!

We Aussie's were so spoilt when it came to our music industry especially in the late 70's, all thru the 80's & in the early 90's. Our own Aussie genre of music was/is "Pub Rock" & to make it in Australia as a band u had to go thru the brutal & harsh Aussie pub scene, playing in pubs all across the country & if the bands could win over the suburban & bush blue-collar Aussie's then a record deal would be signed & sealed. Yes ACCA DACCA & INXS were our main exports overseas & yes both bands went thru the pub scene but we had a lot more bands that were just as brilliant but just couldn't crack the US market for a few reasons. They didn't understand our genre, they wanted our bands to become more Americanised & lose their Aussie identity & even wanted a few lead singers to change their singing accent from Aussie to American. ACCA DACCA changed enough to crack the US but not turning their backs on us Aussie's. INXS didn't change much at all becoming famous via the UK to the US, so they didn't need to change their identity. It's bands like Cold Chisel, Icehouse, Hunters & Collectors, Aussie Crawl to name a few that refused to change who they were for the US market & with that the world missed out & us Aussie's were so spoilt for choice

When you said the drummer and guitarists look like brothers, you were spot on. There are three brothers keyboardist Andrew Farriss, the drummer Jon Farriss and guitarist Tim Farriss. The band was originally called The Farriss Brothers in 1977 and they changed their name in 1979 to INXS which was inspired by English band XTC and the Australian Jam Company IXL. They were all the original band members up until Michaels death in 1997. I didn't realise Michael Hutchence was 37 when he died, I always thought he was a member of the unfortunate 27 club. An amazing band, I still remember a lot of their early work quite fondly.

INXS broke big from Australia in the 80's... Their lead singer Michael Hutchence was the star of INXS; he had the voice, charisma and songwriting talent that made him a superstar in the 80's and 90's. INXS also had a sax player that made them unique as a pop band... the rest were - Garry Gary Beers (bass)... and brothers Tim Farriss (lead guitar), Andrew Farriss (keyboards) and Jon Farriss (drums) This concert captured INXS at the height of stardom touring on their 7th album 'X' in 1990. Unfortunately, the alternative 90's trends somewhat marginalized INXS' appeal but they carried on releasing albums & touring... Their last album w/ Michael Hutchence was 'Elegantly wasted' in 1997... and the singer was hoping to release a solo album afterwards. Despite his stardom, Michael Hutchence ended up in a scandalous relationship w/ the wife of British icon Bob Geldof (who organized the Live Aid '85 charity concert) which resulted in a bitter divorce and custody battle, while Hutchence and girlfriend Paula Yates welcomed a daughter together... In late 1997, he was hoping to spend the Christmas holidays w/ Yates and his daughter when he was informed that Yates court case was delayed and they could not leave for the holidays... Hutchence apparently made frantic calls to remedy the situation to no avail... The next day, he was found dead from suicide. Paula Yates died a few years later; Yates' ex-husband Bob Geldof raised their daughter Tiger Lily. INXS tried to carry on w/ new singers, but it was impossible to replace a singer of Michael Hutchence's star and caliber. They disbanded in 2012.

You’re not far off with your initial perception. From their debut self titled album INXS back in 1980, specifically the song Just Keep Walking very much had a punk ‘esque’ characteristic to it. From there, they just kept reinventing themselves to the stellar band they were renowned for. Had the privilege of seeing them live 8 times, which sadly should have been so many more. They were a true force within the Australian/worldwide music industry

You need to go out and buy an INXS greatest hits CD because this is one of the best bands ever. The amount of music that was popular and on the radio back in their day is tremendous. Michael Hutchence was infectious with his energy and his beautiful face and his energy. When he died, the rest of the band members had a show on TV looking for a singer to replace Michael, of course this was years after he passed. The show was called Rockstar INXS and you can actually see it on KZread

INXS, at this concert in 1991, this was the final peak of 80's music. Nirvana and grunge soon took over from here, but nothing can steal away this fantastic concert from a fantastic band. The only song I'd add is Suicide Blonde. I've never seen 74 thousand people all bounce up and down in time like I saw to this song at Wembley...

They were an extraordinary band and Michael Hutchence was an extraordinary front man. He also dated the innocent pop Queen back in the 80s Kylie Minogue for 3 years. Kylie is now one of the biggest superstars on the planet. She did a tribute to him singing, I Need You Tonight on one of her tours I think it was 2015 . This is a mashup of the video he did for the song and Kylie’s covering it in concert. It’s pretty spectacular. Trivia he wrote the song Suicide Blonde for Kylie. Below is the link to the mashup. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHaGydGDisedY7A.htmlsi=ijZqc-im5DfbOI_o

1980, Sydney and I'm 19. I go with a girl I'm really keen on to Chequers. The band playing is INXS. There's about 200 punters. I've seen their name on band posters around town and like you I assume they're punkish, but I haven't heard their music. We are down the front and they start their set. Immediately I am just drawn in and transfixed to the frontman. He is magnetic. The music not really my taste but it doesn't matter. This guy just oozes charisma, energy and style and the band is tight. I walk out of there knowing I have seen something special... A couple of weeks later they release the single 'Just Keep Walking' and that's it- I'm hooked! PS: I didn't get the girl, but we are Facebook friends 44 years later and we still occasionally talk about that gig. Thank you Liza!
