Who Invented The Ollie

Спорт

Who invented the ollie? Who ollied first? How did it happen? Watch along and find out homies.
The ollie was invented in the late 1970s by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand, the ollie since has become the basis for many other more complicated tricks. The ollie air is a jumping technique that allows skaters to pop over obstacles.

Mullen invented the ollie, people want to differentiate vert and flat ground but the vert ollie the tail of the board was not kicked. I watched Tony explaining this on an interview that Alan's wasn't really an ollie. He just got momentum and went airborne. The street ollie, which everyone knows today..the one that matters a long with every other street trick was made by Mullen. He is forever the goat, very unique person. Will never be another

Jevon... it was scooped. So....yea... the tail was used. Look up Alan Gelfand doing the ollie.

@@SlickRick4EVER I'm aware, that's still vert tho. You have no choice but to have momentum going into it. A true ollie is from flat ground. Vert and street really shouldn't be compared. Mullen is the godfather of anything street related, even new school vert skaters use his shit. Ollie, flips literally anything you can think of he made. People been riding in pools and ramps forever,it oit boring until Rodney came along

@@jvnbrk - "A true ollie is from flat ground." No.... "Vert and Flatground shouldn't be compared." Hmm... I beg to differ, because they are VERY similar than you think. Ask yourself what a Kickturn and a 180 have in common. What is a varial and why is a varial flip have a varial in it, when not a single hand is turning a board? "Mullen is the godfather of anything street skateboarding related, even new school vert skateboarders use his shit. Ollie, flips literally anything you can think of he made." Ask Mullen if he invented the Hardflip/Inward Kickflip/FS Pop Shove-it, Kickflip. Answer: He did NOT. Rodney Mullen basically invented the Kickflip and evolved it to many variations from there. Mind you, he didn't exactly invent the shove-its! As far as the flatground ollie, he saw Alan Gelfand do that move and turned that move into flatground. Danny Way took Mullen's flatground maneuvers into Vert. "People have been riding in ramps and pools forever,it oit boring until Rodney came along." Go ride a pool and/or ramp and get back with me, you street skateboarding kook. From what I am getting at, you are dying to give Mullen a blowjob. I admire Rodney, but not in your severe, Giger degree. Do yourself a favor and look up your shit before I make you look even more retarded. I know my shit, don't fool yourself.

@@samcopernicus - It has been said that Alan Gelfand did the first ever no-handed aerial -we all know and love- as the Ollie and Rodney Mullan invented the Flatground Ollie (which Rodney did state that he saw Gelfand do it on vert and used his tailstop-to-nose transfer as the concept for the flatground ollie). Still, there is a gentleman by the name of Craig Snyder who authored a book stating another skateboarder who was friends with Gelfand that did both their moves.

They both were important. But I think Mullen would have invented it eventually himself either way.

Well, sources are now saying that Gelfand didn't really invent the ollie.

@@ConcreteWaveMag - "A Secret History of the Ollie" by Craig Snyder Take a read of that book, sometime. It was said that Alan Gelfand invented the FS, no-handed aerial on Vert (Ollie-pop) then the scooped-tail version (Ollie-Air). Mullen assured that his inspiration to the flatground ollie was based on seeing Gelfand's vert ollie alongside his *tailstop-to-nose transfer* to prepare for his 50-50 "Truckstand" maneuver. So, even if Rodney didn't think of landing that transfer move to his wheels to make that ollie, one can say that the prototype to the Flatground Ollie dated back to 1979 (when he was competing in the Oasis contest). Nevertheless, there are claims that this guy who Gelfand got the ollie from was doing tail-taps and also doing Alan's maneuver, as well... but was not a fan of being on the spotlight.

Ollie (along with other Floridians) was also doing his namesake trick on flatground before Mullen. Maybe if he printed an ad extolling his own inventions and "re-credited" tricks, the world would remember that "Ollie" is an actual person.
