The guys can absolutely clown on each other, they're in on it; That's half the brand. "This country's food is weird and I hate it", fine. We still get on the level of opinions. The problem is the way of presenting it too close to a fact, and standing behind it. I don't necessarily think he's SUPER serious here, but he very clearly does back this opinion genuinely. And, well, he's essentially punching downwards. In humor you punch sideways or upwards. Not downwards. Being abled and legitimately clowning on disabled people isn't punching up or sideways. It's punching WAY down, and that's not okay.

@@esunn In turn too many don't take them seriously because of a vocal minority. And just because one person doesn't relate to the anime, it doesn't mean no one does. Joey could've easily said "It's not relatable for me and I don't get it", but that's not what he's said. He's explicitly said "This anime isn't depicting realistic behaviour and there isn't a real person out there that actually behaves like this", without proper knoweldge on the matter.

Arknights got it right with autobattle. It should be locked behind a successful flawless run of a battle/map. That way, you actually have to put in the work and brain power to earn the automation on grinding

I like the journey! Movies and shows are too short for an RPG story, and the puzzles are often fun as well as doing quests

Personally, my thoughts on characters being relatable is that those relatable traits/moments probably don't happen for one person but more than one of those traits/moments could have happened or existed for an individual. If more than one strikes close to home then they're relatable. Not an exact 1=1 but more than enough for someone to see themselves in her.

Naww, I can't believe Conner just swept Hi-Fi Rush's existence under the rug like that. It was unique, expressive, vibrant, and did what it wanted perfectly. Easily one of the best games last year.

I still think Connor's take about no good 2023 games is the worst for hottest take of the year, 2023 has one of the most stacked games in gaming history, yet dismisses it as "just sequels", although kinda true, at the same time, can't deny that they're still really great games that expand upon the idea; like Tears of the Kingdom, Spiderman 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Alan Wake 2, Pikmin 4, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, Final Fantasy 16 and Fire Emblem Engage. Even if they aren't sequels, it's great as a standalone product for the existing ip, like Mario Wonder. But I think Connor realized that, so he deflected it with "2023 was bad because there was no good original ips". Which is also dumb for two reasons, as for one, did Connor forget Hi-Fi Rush, Starfield, Dredge, Dave the Diver, and Pizza Tower came out? And two, most kickass games are based off existing ips, which if that's the case, then gaming hasn't been good since the PS2 era. Also, that's like if I said Anime was horrible because most are not 100% original ip, as most animes are from existing ips from mangas. Sorry for the huge yap session, this is one of the only take one of them said that had me a little frustrated lol.

Try living in a country that has temperature of 35C and a heat index above that, then you'll understand why cold water is better than room temperature.

I’m astonished that there was to mention of anything related to Connor and Joey’s opinion on attack on Titan on here. That episode went into fumes.

From games I've played cacoon, lil gator game and lies of p where all great. Haven't played them but I've heard good things about hi fi rush and pizza tower. I think Connor needs to expand his horizons a bit.

Although it is his opinion that there werent any good games to come out of 2023, the majority of gamers would obviously disagree because weve been following these IPs since childhood (Street Fighter, Zelda, FF, RE, Dead Space Space Alan Wake) If a new IP came out that, would be cool (even though we have been getting new IPs every year so idk why Connor says we dont) But I would love to play a Bully 2, Bloodborne 2 or Okami 2. I'm even excited for GTA6 and the new budokai tenkaichi game coming out.

I also prefer room temperature water, especially when its bottled or mineral water. Tap or distilled water is better cold since they don't really taste good. JRPGs could have auto-battle if you have a large roster and it's more about arranging teams like Unicorn Overlord, especialy if you can choose how they will act in battle. I think beverages like beer technically count as food since you can intake nutrients and such that way.

The correct hottest take won. 2023 was one of the best years for gaming I've ever seen. In any other year, so many of those games would've been easy GOTY sweeps and the fact so many of them came out so close together is astounding. It felt like 1997 again for a moment.

Saying Zelda Tears of the Kingdom had no new ideas is crazy. It's only a new game cuz the devs had too many DLC ideas.

i kinda agree with garnt. if you look at most jrpg gameplay cycles you are doing basically the exact same thing, exact same strat throughout all battles, especially non boss enemies. persona for example is just hitting enemy weaknesses (or using your strongest skill), reapplying buffs and debuffs whenever they expire and healing when necessary, from start of the game all the way to the last boss, against basically all enemies.

Auto battle as an OPTION in jrpg are great in my opinion. Especially for hardcore fans that wants to go through the catalog of jrpg's in each console system. As for the idea of just removing grinding / level requirements in JRPG's. It's a good thought but not a practical one when it comes to jrpg pre-PS3 era. Good luck redeveloping each game to "cut out the fat" when you can just implement a auto battle feature and let the player decide on how to proceed.

So as I've returned to the world of Anime, my yt recommendations reflect that and so Ive found myself here. Ive watched a coupke of vids and I appreciate the back and forth but, TIL not to come here for video games. I mean, no mention of Sifu from 2022 at all? Not even in the list of games google result...Its clear to me we live in greatly different worlds. Autobattles...idk If want to hit the punching bag or vomit after that one.

Garnt's hot take is weird because it's a bad solution to an otherwise real problem. JRPGs, on a spectrum, have a big issue where non-boss fights often feel tedious due to things like repetition or over-zealous random encounters. I believe that auto-battlers and the "need" for them disappear when the random combat of the game is engaging and fun.

Call me crazy, but Auto Battle games can definitely be fun if they aren't gacha. The team building can get really in-depth. Team Fight Tactics really sticks out to me on this specific point and I can say that yeah, I think I would like more games like this

Room temp water is superior

Baldur's Gate was incredible, so obviously that was a hot take but for me, Conor preferring room temp water is by far the hottest take

@@key099able from demon souls? I dont think you know what youre talking about. Demon souls (the remake) was made by bluepoint. Not from soft. Elden ring does reuse assets from dark souls 3. But literally every game reuses some assets from other games. Elden ring plays incredibly different than every other soulsborne game on a structural level. Aside from the completely different world and lore.

connors takes on media are always so awful tbh, I feel like he lacks any sense of media literacy or awareness of things around it and just doesn't really think of much when plays or watches anything other than surface level shit.Guardians 3 is another take from him that I am surprised isn't mentioned cause he basically dismisses a lot of the quality of the film because in his head he can't get out 'marvel fell off and is mid still'.

I actually agree with the original game point. We had a lot of sequels in 2023, that mostly just copied their predecessor. And even then it is hard for me to say that I liked any of them. I rarely agree with Connor, but that really does not feel like that hot of a take at least

It was probably just not nominated enough, or people just forgot about it. Recency bias plays a lot in these awards.

I mean...Auto battle is good for the grind. Most of JRPG battles from random encounters aren't really random enemies, they usually come in set groups that is predetermined by the area then randomly chosen, so once you win against that group once, you can enable auto battle against that group so you don't have to (quote the boys) "brainrot" on repetitive grinding. But it shouldn't be something you can just enable out of the gate, that's BS.

Honestly, Garnt is right. The most recent Digimon games I've played have auto battle functionalities and it just saves me so much time on the grind.

Rather than automating the grind, I would rather the game be designed in a way where I don't have to grind. If you're in a spot where you're asking for auto-battle in a JRPG, then either a) the combat sucks, or b) they added way too much filler combat and grinding. You shouldn't be asking for JRPGs to have autobattle, you should be asking for them to have combat that doesn't suck.

Looking at the take as "bocchi is not relatable" as is, indeed is a hot take but I cannot see why he's plainly wrong. Bocchi just makes being socially awkward exaggerated which I can see why. Being a socially inept person I wouldn't say I relate to bocchi the most but some of her struggles where I saw myself struggling in. To paint a picture Bocchi is not relatable can be a valid take since the author purposefully made it over exaggerated to the extent to make it unrealistic for comedic writing is good. But it's not relatable since every socially awkward person doesn't struggle the same as she does but can struggle on some. Granted it's a relatable character on some instances but majority of it wasn't really as realistic as it would be. I do relate to bocchi but I can understand why even socially awkward people cannot relate to her. I won't say it's not a hot take but I wouldn't it's plainly wrong. I love bocchi but her exaggeration on being inept at social activities is more so funny than relatable MAJORITY of the time

Nah sometimes I wanna switch my brain off and experience a game while skipping all the tedious shit. Especially when I'm replaying one, I can skip all the miscellaneous fights and get to the better ones quicker

I agree with Connor on the room temp water being better than cold water. I can't drink cold water because i get brain freeze and i can't drink as much and i have sensitive teeth, so i can't drink or eat anything cold without pain.

Those are not hot take but just sh@t opinions.

How is the auto battle a hot take? Grinding isn't fun. It's boring and tedious. Auto battle streamlines grinding. Bravely Default has auto battle, and it cuts down grinding time down for me.

Jrpg should have more auto-battle kinda based. Thats what made the bravely default series great. Streamline the grinding.
