Haener is a fast processor. When he sees someone breaking open, the ball is on the way instantly and accurately.

I agree with everything you said about taysom. Glad he’s gonna get a more creative role. Side note about being under center it is very deceiving and can be a real challenge. Especially now most QBs run out of pistol or gun. I remember playing youth football I was always WR/DB or sometimes in the wing position. Last game of the year I had to play qb and dawg I couldn’t be under center to save my life. I’d either drop the snap or if I did get the snap it was hard to do simple things like hand off. I always thought it was super simple but I learned the hard way sometimes you can’t teach an old dog new tricks😂😂like a simple sweep looks super easy until you have to do it😂😂

I also suspect teams will start just kicking into the end zone and giving the touchback to the 30, like you say. It all depends on how many big returns there are. They had to put it at the 30 just to get a few holdouts to agree to vote yes and either get it passed or to get it passed unanimously, I can't recall which it was. The original plan was to have it at the 35, I think, or maybe it was even the 40, but I think it was the 35. There is a strong chance there will be additional tweaking if they don't get the results they're looking for, which is more returns and fewer meaningless plays, all the while reducing injuries. There were lots of injuries on kick returns in the old system. With this new rule the expectation is this will be more like a regular play in terms of injury risk because you don't have the big running start. This is from the XFL, but actually it's originally from a practice drill NFL teams would run. So, the true origin is from NFL practices, which is where the XFL got it from.

Yea, I think in most instances it’ll be more about coverage confidence than anything else. If you’re a team that excels at pinning teams deep, that’s where the change in frequency comes, imo. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot more returns in the first month of the season as teams get a handle on it, but then a lot of them settle back into kicking it as far as humanly possible. The 30 isn’t penalizing enough to risk a return in a big moment if you don’t have to.

Jeff and Steve excellent as always. Question for you guys, what if Carr throws for 5000 yards this season and the Saints go far in the playoffs does he get extended?

Likely not. It’s a 4-year contract and he’d be going into Year 3. What it’d probably do is prompt you to execute another full-restructure and be a little more aggressive in free agency than they were this year.

@@WWLsportshow about this observation then. Brock Purdy is a product of this system, I knew Garappolo was a product of this system, I would suggest Carr is better than both of them. What do you think?

Did you know Taysom Hill was 7-2 as a starter? I'm not saying he's good. I'm saying he wins games. In 2021, Taysom was 4-1 as a starter, while the team was 5-7 in games he didn't start. Somehow, someway, inexplicably, his 4 TD's and 5 INT's and passer rating of 75.4 elevated that team. "All he does is win."

Pete was stuck in the past. Just showed us that Pete and Sean were not offensive masterminds unless they had a Brees. Heck Pete took 7 games to get AK into the end zone 2 seasons ago, in the same season didn't figure out Shaheed until late in the year. Last year Jamaal didn't get a TD until the last seconds after getting 17 the year before!!! I remember I gm last year in the second half they needed to score they ran the same play 3 out of 4 and of course failed to score and they were probably on the 35.

@@WWLsports Ok I absolutely did see that and I would describe that as what was His qb play like all season up and down that’s with him trying to establish chemistry with a new QB he also dealt with injuries and still learning how to be a professional which ig you can hold against him if you want I won’t tho if not for the brief rutt he was in and injuries last year he would have been better but Skill wise he is inarguably top 12 and im not trynna like come at you or anything whenever I see a take I disagree with I just say it’s awful being dramatic I just didn’t agree respectfully!

@@mitchellmilano3789 I hear ya. I’ve said a few times now that I think Chris can very much get into that top 10 discussion this year, so I don’t necessarily disagree with you. I just think when you weigh everything, and yes, some inconsistent QB play hasn’t helped … I’d say in the range of 16-18 is where I’d rank Years 1-2. I think the way I put it was in the range of Ceedee Lamb years 1-2. I think the part of that take that might not be getting conveyed is that I think Olave has been good, but that he can and should take a big step up this year.
