I love how the original and ado’s cover feel like two parts of the same story but ado’s scream is just something else!

I was wondering why they put Ado in that cage. Then she hit that first power part, and I was like "Oh. It's because she's a BEAST!"

TK from 凛として時雨 is one of my favorite artists hands down. His video story song "Copy light" and the song "White Silence" are definitely favorites. Ado, on the other hand, has what it takes to be on top. I really enjoyed both versions you offered of UNRAVEL. Thank you.

Her vocals are amazing, but In my opinion the original is a better song i.e. the music itself with TK's guitar work (have seen him play live versions and it sounds just as good as the studio version). It would be sick if they did a Collab with her vocals and him on guitar. To be fair this song was always about the instruments for me, the guitar parts were always sick, and this live version doesn't do the guitar parts that are iconic, it does a muddled down version to not take away the attention from the singer. ADO version: vocals: 10 Music: 6 ; TK version vocals: 8 Music: 9

TK all the way. Especially because of a scream leading to guitar solo. It is designed as a transition to the guitars but in ADO's version it was too long and felt like she was trying to one up the original artist in terms on strength, loudness and length of the scream instead of leaving it in service of the song.

The Ado version of that song has me in tears every single time I have heard it. Astonishing.

She conveys emotion so well. It’s gripping, there are moments where I just feel my breath pulled out of me when she gets breathless, or feel like I’m sobbing when it sounds more like a cry, and my tears well up when she does those soul rattling screams like she’s something else like you just want to sing the same way and shove all the emotion out using every ounce of breath

Top reaction as always, Ado's new song Value is my new favourite, it's just a beautiful piece. Can't wait to hear a live version.

I liked the idea of listening to both back to back. I love both versions of the song but I will say that Ado's live performance is absolutely phenomenal .

It really depends on your preferences, TK's embodies the sad, depressed side of Kaneki while ado's represents the angry, enraged side of him.

I get frustration and desperation. Not really hearing anger or rage. Knowing the show might be leading your interpretation a certain way so that’s interesting (was the song written for the show specifically? Usually anime just pick existing songs that have a close enough theme right)

These anime songs they say were written and sung before the anime even launch on TVs. Anime producers and directors made sure the anime songs go well with the anime story itself

Ado is one of the best singers in the world regardless of genre. I love Saiki, she is an incredible singer and performer. But Ado is on a different level. And I think most Maidacs would agree.

Even this B-M fan here has no problem acknowledging and appreciating the sheer talent and power of Ado. She is absolutely unique and phenomenal. But it's also like Mark says, Saiki is the best for Band-Maid. Would Ado be able to fit into a band made up of equally weighted parts? I don't think so. A band would always be overshadowed by her, as this performance proves imho. The band here played amazingly, but everyone talks about Ado's voice. And quite rightly so. She has created and plays in her very own league for several reasons.

Bro its okay. But more scream is not equals to being better. Cause this song is about changing and solving the world. So the screams are meaningless. Its just making it easy. The thing is calmness but hidden pain at the same time. Our character is not a monster, its weak human with cracked mind with complaining about being gentle.

Ado's live version is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to sob uncontrollably for a while.

i'm a long time lts and tk fan, since maybe 2010, and i was also a huge toko ghoul fan, so of course i prefer the og version. especially because i feel like it more properly conveys ken's situation. but even i understand it boils down to personal preference. neither did it "better." if people like ado's version, that's fine, but there's no need to tout either as the "best." especially considering how iconic and impactful the orignal is. tk and lts have done so many op's that hold so much weight with anime fans.

Her screams sound like the screams of my heart. Every time I hear her sing this song, my heart hurts. This song of hers makes my heart hurt. And I cry every time.

I think Ado's version is very good, her performance is incredible, but it's maybe a little too unhinged for me. The screaming, by the end, was losing its impact for me, and I felt wasn't a good fit for the song. The original song has a lot of restraint and building of tension and partial release, and that one scream, "I can't move! (x6) -- UNRAVELLING THE WORLD". The lyrics are about someone who's got kind of two conflicting, intertwined identities and feeling like they're losing themself and their humanity. The singer's despairing and desperate and pleading not to be forgotten as they are, before they lose themselves completely, and I think TK hits the right tone, where it feels like he's trying to stay calm, but he's still desperate, where Ado's strikes me as sounding too angry. I think you could make it an artistic choice, where it's just further along losing themself, but she brings it back under control at the very end in a way that doesn't fit.

By the way, an extreme vocal coach said that screaming is even more beneficial for health and voice than traditional singing, just few people know about it

I don't, personally, think these two versions can be compared properly? To me, they're basically like two entirely different songs. TK conveys that deep sorrow and grief of Kaneki for the person he had been. Ado potrays the sheer raw agony and struggle of constant fight within the person. I absolutely adore both versions and think that both of them are just magestic on their own accords.

Please also react to Ado's cover of Aishite Aishite Aishite, It is one of my favorites and her voice and screams are spectacular!!

And yet, Ado does not need to be compared with other singers, Ado is a separate phenomenon, and Ado is not a rock singer, she is something else...

Usually more of a Metal/Rock Guy but this young Lady 😍 So funny to see you almost speechless at the End .😂😂😂 Why are there so many amazing Anime Intro/Outro Tracks ? @@3kei575 Well i guess they did not know how popular Ado is in Germany. Tickets were sold out in a few Minutes. Larger Venues could have been filled , but 7500 is OK for her first Concert in Germany and The Mitsubishi Electric Hall has very very good reputation.

Saiki grew on me over time. She doesn't have the most beautiful timbre of voice. She doesn't have the same kind of stunning technique as an Ado or Haruko Nagaya (from Ryokuoushoku Shakai). But I think she's underrated because Band-Maid's music is not easy to sing over. It demands a lot to be able to hit all of their tempo and tone shifts and stuff. She's also just like a whole package with her stage presence, and with a particular chemistry with her band. They lean on her judgement and are encouraged by her and stuff. You could swap in a "better" singer, and probably not get a better product.

100% agree with this comment. In fact, I would go as far to say that Saiki might be considered-- not through any type of appointment-- the de facto leader now. And this is in a band that everyone is equally important in the process and decisions.

I grant him the part of the highs and the scream was tremendous, they were heartbreaking, but... What's part of the rest failed me a little bit still TK gives a cry from beyond the grave She made a throat-rending scream but it's okay

Nice comparison. How about doing next Crime and Punishment the original by Shiina Ringo and the cover by Ado.

TK does it best simply because he wrote, composed, played (crazy lead guitar) and sang this song. Ado is good singer, but a cover is still a cover.

@@perdasche the question was "who does it best", without specifics. Ado sang great. TK composed this masterpiece, wrote deep lyrics, and played hardcore lead guitar while singing great. He's also more authentic performancer of his own song simply because he knows more than anyone what is to be done here and why, and he's capable of doing so, otherwise he'd write this song for someone else to sing (he has over 100+ songs written for other artists already). So for me the winner is clear. Hope this explains it.

This is my honest opinion, tk really does justice to this song more than ado. When ado sings this song in Live, her voice does not do justice to this song. In fact, it is no different than a woman's throaty scream.(Not record version)

What version of the song do you prefer? That has to be the most redundant question after Ado LOL. And yes I am a Maidac through and through but Ado is on another level as as singer. But Saiki is a much better fit for BAND-MAID because there is so much going on with the instruments, Saiki blends so much better without standing out too much.

I think when it comes to live performance there's no one like Ado in the world, if only for one reason: because she just does what she wants to do and nails it, even if it's totally bonkers. And even on the off chance she doesn't nail it, her ability to trasmit what the song and the lyrics are about is so on another level that it doesn't even matter if it's technically perfect or on pitch or whatever. Someone put the live version of Usseewa from her Mars tour online, without video, and it's the craziest shit I've heard in a long time. It made the "I don't like society's rules" lyrics into an absolut "fuck the system" song.

I will always appreciate the ability to create over interpret, even so Ado's interpretation was very good, but tk is something else, I recommend both Ling Tosite Sigure's songs and his solo project.

Unravel is 40% of Ado's capabilities, and I'm not kidding

Another rock singer I would put forward is Chiga( I may be wrong on her name ) from Banshimoku. A good example would be Banshimoku I don't need a love song.

Not objectively. Ado put more into this song than TK. Do you see Ado's interpretation as a separate work? ? Or do you value your good memories from the original? The original is good, but it doesn't give the same emotions. That's the point.

The studio version from Ado is so dam good

The emotions placed are just completely wrong with Ado's cover, but it sounds alright if you disregard it's attachment to Tokyo ghoul entirely

I personaly think TK's vocals are more impresive in terms of the technique in this is song than Ado's, but Ados conveys a lot more emotions. Also I think this desperation in Ado version suits the song better than this sadness in Tk's.

As much as I love Saiki, I don't think many singers can match Ado. She's a powerhouse. I think Ado is the best singer in the world right now in any style. If you want even more insane singing though, check out her MV Aishite Aishite Aishite. It's originally a Vocoloid song which supposedly a human can't sing and she just says "hold my mic".

I respect Ado for making a great cover. She has a power ;) but I prefer the original. Tk has a more unique voice and his contrasts in the emotional points of the songs are more balanced.

TKS VERSION IS GOD VERSION in my opinion is better

As someone who's never watch the anime or really heard much of TKs works other than this, I find his version incredibly lackluster. It just feels like so much less effort was put into the vocals compared to Ado. I don't really care about the "meaning of the song in the abime", what I care about is performance, and Ado jusr deilvers it way better than TK in almost every way. This is just my opinion ofc, but I just don't really care for the original at all tbh.

To me is pretty simple. I don't like TK's voice. He's an amazing singer, but definitely not my cup of tea. Props to him tho.

The original is better

First, Ado is phenomenal. Second, TK's breathy high pitched sining makes me wish I was listening to nails on a chalkboard instead, it is definitely not for me. I have heard covers of Ling Tosite Sigure songs I really like and checked out the originals only to dislike them due to the singing. I love the instrumentation but I just can't take listening to TK.
