At the age of 17, she made her debut with the digital single titled "Usseewa", which peaked at number 1 on Billboard Japan Hot 100. Most importantly, she recorded many songs in her early days in HER OWN CLOSET, YES, A CLOSET. In 2022, she performed a main character's singing voice in One Piece Film: Red. Also she also known as a Vocaloid cover singer, she covered a lot of Vocaloid songs. I'm just gonna add this onto here bc this is a really good list. Personally I'd also very much recommend her cover of Darling Dance, Lucky Bruto, Show, Tot Musica, Where the wind blows, and her cover of Kawaiikute Gomen. (The last one mainly because it shows such a different side to her singing.)

Ado performs in a cage regardless of the song. She is kept in a cage for the safety of the audience as she sometimes transforms into a monster. This one was a joke. She is extremely shy and feels more at ease in a cage where the audience can't see her face and show off her skills. And her performance is a monster.

The cage is there just for additional safety if something went wrong. She pretty often walks out of it, at least she did when she performed in Japan, I don't know how it looked on World Tour.

Man I discovered Ado a few months ago and I've been OBSESSED ever since... Unreal she's 21 as of now, her vocal range is UNREAL, her discography (both covers & originals) is SO varied you just never get bored listening to her... Absolute legend, so glad more and more people are discovering her

Wow Ado on the channel. She is insane, her music took over my life since i discovered her last year. She is my favorite singer, the things she can do with her voice are unbelievable. I won't tell you what to listen, just pick anything you won't be disappointed!

Usseewa now also has an officially posted live version, too, which imho brings out the rage of the song in a much clearer way than the (already great, don't get me wrong) studio version, so I'd recommend that too. Also, I'd add Aishite Aishite Aishite and God-ish for essential covers, comparable to Crime and Punishment in terms of range; and I personally love and would add Lucky Bruto, as well as Tokyo Cannibalism with biz, neither of which get enough love yet feature some of her craziest vocals, apart from being just banger songs in general (though admittedly perhaps difficult to get into at first).

@@badwulff I'm not a big fan of Mars concert Usseewa. For my taste she went a bit too far and it became just one big non pleasent to ears scream. On the other hand Campanella concert Usseewa is freaking amazing, it's much more wild and emotional than the studio version, but at the same time still showcases her amazing singing ability, instead of just venting the rage. Unfortunately she hasn't uploaded it on her youtube channel. And I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I just prefer the other one, but that's the beauty of live performances - everytime you will get something a bit different.

Ado's entire One Piece Film Red album is absolutely amazing and stacked with impressive vocals. I would recommend you check out Backlight, New Genesis (she has a live performance of this song too), Fleeting Lullaby, Invincible. Other songs i would also highly recommend are Usseewa (her debut song at 17 years old), Crime and Punishment, Readymade, Odo, Show

I really like the live version so much more than the studio version. I don't know if it is intentional (but with Ado I'm pretty sure it is) but you can hear 2 contrasting tones throughout the whole song. One more quiet and reserved tone, and one raspy, wild scream tone. Considering the story of tokyo ghoul, a boy who is half man half ghoul, trying to fit in with the normal reserved people and wild ghouls it is a very cool vocal choice to do with the song.

If you like to interpret songs and lyrics you should definitely watch her first single Usseewa (MV for subs and live for the wtf), which is a (often) sarcastic criticism on Japanese work culture and society and the follow up/reaction to the controversy she triggered with it, "I'm a Controversy". There's a filter on the cage so it's easier to keep her in the shadows/conceal her. They call it the Ado box. According to herself, she's a huge introvert and doesn't want people to know who she is and how she looks like because she'd be way too inhibited in her performance if people knew. There's a video of her reacting to her own live performance of Odo, and while I think she kind of exaggerated, the feelings are probably pretty genuine. She's very unique for a Japanese artist because she often just says what she thinks and doesn't really care if she steps on someone's toes or makes a fool out of herself. And to make it a bit easier what's what and which videos have subtitles: All of her original music videos have subtitles, only the live performances and her covers (easily distinguishable because they always have "歌いました" (Utaimashita, transl. "I sang") behind the song title) don't have subs.

I dont think you were think too hard. I liked this reaction because you have the context of kaneki story. It adds so much to this song. What makes this performance a masterpiece though is you dont need to understand any of the words to know the feelings expressed.
