Auto vs Manual Mustang - which would you have?

Does it have sport mode in the 10 speed which may reduce the time to change gears.

Auto. IMO....with the performance package the auto is fastest. If you want to do smoky burnout's get the manual. Either way you are in for a maniacal ride. Many friends prefer the manual. To each his own.......
These cars are traction limited. To get the best 0-100 time you need to put it in drag strip mode, which sets the suspension up for best rear traction and the auto to change harder/faster. The times you reported sound like they were done in normal mode. The auto is about 0.3 seconds quicker to 100kph than the manual ...IF you manage to launch the manual perfectly.

My 2019 10 speed auto GT PP1 was doing upper 11s 1/4 mile and 0-60 under 4 seconds stock
I got a 21 Mustang GT 6 speed manual. You made me happier to own one. The A10 is quicker by 1 second in the 1/4 mile but at the end of the day i like shifting.
Have a 2019 camaro 2ss with the 10 speed (same box) have managed 4.2 0-100 no issues with the lunch control... nothing to do with the fact it has to shift as they happen super quick in the camaro I'd assume it's the same for the mustang
Bro your reviews are hilarious! Can't believe I only discovered your channel just now

Me too. The wait is very frustrating.
Did you put it on Drag Strip mode for the 0-100?
How does the interior quality compare to Ye olde FG Falcon?
Any info on the ticking / piston slap issue ?
Yep fuel economy is 8.1l/100 on the open road say Melbourne to Sydney which I've done around 6 times or around 10.1l/100 in mixed driving. Yep the car is tail happy and you need to be careful on wet roads or with cold tires. And yes I'd love a manual but I also love the roof down experience so I'll accept the auto. In sport mode the only time this made sense was a fast run through King Valley where it changed perfectly down into corners and held the gear coming out, and yes you had to watch the overstear on corner exit. I daily drive mine 60,000k service is due, not bad for two years ownership.
I’m through rowing my way through city traffic with the standard. Automatic for me. 4.8 sec to 100kph is quick enough for me!
Manuel for me but I am day 132 of waiting for a warranty steering rack after mine locked up mid turn and almost made me crash. The Spare tire option and performance pack options can't be bought together.
I have the 2020 with a manual.. You definitely want the manual. Nothing like barking the tires with every shift!! Getting on the Highway in 3rd gear is really fun! It’s amazing how low the RPMS stay even at 140 mph . I never get past 6,000 it’s almost not necessary!! The automatics float the redline in every gear!!
I would like to have white leather seats and trim components with black carpet. That used to be regularly available for the Mustang convertible. Most people would say that it is no big deal. But, on a hot summer day (we actually get those here in Michigan!) you can get a first degree burn on the back of your legs when you wear shorts and set your ass into that black leather seat.it can wreck the joy of having a drop top.
Yep they are a fun car, I brought my convertible back in 2020 before the covid tax and new paid 64k for it. Fuel economy is actually pretty good I've driven Sydney to Melbourne multiple times and with cruise locked in at 121km/h it's 8.1L/100km of course around town that changes. But I do daily drive mine and it makes my commute a fun experience. I'd also much prefer a manual but heck in convertible form that's not an option no idea why not after all u can buy convertible manual versions in other countries for RHD cars. I also like the fact it has 4 seats - yes I've used all 4 carrying people and when u have 4 people where do the other 2 sit in a two seater?? Also the back seats allow for considerable storage - I've taken bikes, and some larger furniture you just need to have the roof down so make sure the weather is OK first mind u the bikes fit roof both up and down. Handing is a bit of an issue it does courier OK but absolutely will get tail happy and oversteer when pushed especially on wet days and cold tires. Good review - not sure I would have paid 84k for this car but 64k new it was excellent value - in 2.5 years I've already done 67,000km and I just love this car looking forward to another 67,000km in the next few years.

Update - my car is now rocking 115,000km absolutely love thus car ironically in Brisbane where it's warmer not anywhere as tail happy, in Melbourne the dam thing would spin on every corner in winter, which was equally fun and bad. In all cases pilot sport 4s tires. Am on my 3rd pair, the key for tire longevity is run higher pressure like 38 - 40 cold. Otherwise the inside edge is destroyed in 40k. My second set lasted 65k. Just changed to my 3rd set in Q2 2024.
you reckon this is quicker than my mums yaris matt?
Regarding the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires being "the best": The new Continental SportContact 7's are better in just about every way :)
I bought the convertible. I love convertibles, my first car was also a convertible but somewhat slower, a 1935 Austin 747cc and 3 speed manual. Most reviews talk about the transmission but here in Oz land we are not given the option and have to accept auto. Also we not told that the Mustang is not an exotic car in the US I believe it starts around $25-27K so in my opinion is unfairly compared to better built cars. Fuel economy ( I get around 9l/100 highway at legal limit) , back seats, safety rating (which criteria change every year) etc all go away when I put the hood up or down, which I have modified to be able to do whilst driving ( very convenient). For me there was no alternative except the 4 cylinder turbo - no no no I love the driving experience and and that Coyote is a real gem and does not matter what speed you are driving it brings joy. The finish is not as good as my neice's Merc but it sure is dull compared tho my car. No regrets and if I can order/get a 24 model I will.
Did this guy say the mustangs main competitor is the kia stinger lol
Posh interior, a 6 or 7 speed auto option, and manual for the convertible and the Mustang is lovely!
I have the same car, vert with 10R80... best 0 to 100 I have done was 4.6...
I bought GT convertible Twister Orange in USA for 43k$. It’s less equipped but cool and much cheaper.
Is the stinger really its direct competitor? lol

I've had Mustangs as far back as my first 87 LX5.0, just traded in a 2 year old Cadillac for a brand new Mustang GT and I don't know why you keep saying $80,000 this is a $46,000 car and that's for a premium GT LOADED !... the quality on everything is superior to a Cadillac and regardless of what Kia you like it's still a Kia, this price point the cars a winner compared to anything you could find.

You're talking US Dollars! He's talking Australian Dollars! They're different! Plus Australian Mustangs come fully loaded. It's the only way you can buy them in Australia.
just my humble opinion, but if we are talking the V8, manual is the way to go all day, but if you have a v6 or the ecoboost you'll be just fine with the auto, the autos really are not that bad in these cars, and you can still lots of fun in them.
You should have played around with it in sport mode, it feels totally different.
I own a 2018 Mustang GT Fastback Manual & love it. Not too bad on fuel at 12 lp100 . Biggest complaint is TRACTION ! Neither the auto or manual will ever get close to Fords claimed 0-100 Koh with road tyres because you can’t stop the rears spinning. The S650 needs to be AWD to improve performance.

Same for me mate. I ordered the i30 sedan N in performance blue DCT. It should arrive in June
Seattle Tacoma traffic. Auto for me.
Folks need to get over the interior. That glorious Gen 3 Coyote with that 7400 redline and the exterior styling is what we are paying for. This car would be unattainable for so many more if Ford invested more in the interiors. Instead, FORD invests their R n D $ into the performace of this legend, NOT the interior. That 5.0 is world class. Afterall, it’s what made the Mustang the legend it is
An automatic transmission in a convertible makes sense for most buyer's. Inspire of the v8 A convertible is primarily a cruiser. I've had both manual shift Mustangs and automatic. The auto box is more desirable in the drop top because an open top invites you to enjoy the many other joys of driving an open car. All of the other negatives of back seat space and general practicality are rendered moot because if you need passenger capacity and load space you are not a buyer of this sort of car.
Good review, been looking to get a Mustang for a while and I think I'll wait to buy the next gen in a few years time, but man its a hard choice between the hard top and convertible. Current gen is decent, love the engine, but there are plenty of stories of the manual trans exploding, poor interior quality. The car was designed in 2011/2012 and its quite dated by today's standard. Ford dealer experience is garage too other than the few dealers with a big Mustang customer base.
@scottbrown7415

Trust me. It won't be the same car in just a few years. The v8 is on it's way out. Not because we don't love it. The Government is going to make it impossible to produce.
Me.
If you know how to shift very quickly you can beat the automatic turn traction control off in sport mode.. Get a short roll in first then PUNCH IT!!!!
@stephenvelden295
2 жыл бұрын
NoOne can shift faster than an automatic transmission! That's why they're so popular with Drag Racers!
Why do people insist on brake boosting a non turbo car for launch? Why do people insist on brake boosting any car for launch. Let's face it, I want a quick response especially if I'm looking to get ahead at the lights, am I going to sit there brake boosting it or applying launch control? I hate the 0-60 figures based on "launch" I'm interested in real world driving 0-60 times.
I used to own a Holden WN Caprice. One of the last ones. I have also driven the modern Mustang. The Holden was a much more fun and refined car to drive.
non sequential lights?! that sucks.
Those toggle switches feel really really cheap. They would have been outnof place in a Pinto.
YEEEESSSSSSS😃😃😃😃😃😃
0 to 100 with the top down 😆 🤣🤣🤣 killing me dead sir what in the hell were you thinking and then act surprised at the 0 to 100 times 👍👍👍👍
Got 0-60 in 5.0 in my Challenger 5.7 all day. My Mustang is much faster, so I'm thinking about 4 seconds. Its up to 70 mph before I know it. I think you should try it in sport mode and/or learn how to launch. You can't floor it immediately.
That’s what I need a 4banger, police don’t like me driving 1mph over the speed limit
I'll take the 10 sp over the manual any day.
