Well, I did 6000 km in Mustang Ecoboost 2023 and I must say it's a hell of a car. Fast, it gets attention, it looks, it's great to drive and fuel consumtion is around 26-27 mpg (9-10 l/100 km). Is it slower than GT? Yes! Is it having a half of cilnders of GT? Yes! But... it's still Mustang that gives you chills everytime you enter the car and turn the engine on. ;) Love it for every highs ans lows!

I own a 2.3 hpp manual and I can assure that this car leaves no frustration...I can match 5.0's all day on drags, sometimes I win (if they are manuals as me), most of the times I lose, but it's always close and not embarrassing at all, quite the opposite BTW, ppl get impressed how powerful this mustang can be...you won't get the heavenly sound of the v8, that's true. But if u can live with that, the HPP is a perfect daily drive in my opinion. On top of that, I can endure a whole week before hitting the gas station, and I like to push it on straight lines and dragging on the lights (when it's safe, lol)...anyways, it's not a fight, it's more like choosing whats the best fit for you buck and need! They're both amazing cars and deserve respect for what the brand mustang represents. Peace yall!!

the 2.3 in the mustang is hardly a high performance compared to the 2.3 in the mk3 rs. mustang 300hp and 400nm of torque mk3 rs of the fpm 375 which most are is 378hp and 500nm of torque and in a car so capable as the rs platform its a night and day difference. that is also shown in the times of when the cars - mustang v8 and focus rs did the nurburgring mustang v8 8min7 seconds the mk3 did it a second and a half faster. in standard trim 345hp and 470nm of torque its great the sound of the v8 but its not that good and knowing the potential of how both cars can be modified the rs still comes out on to as a track focused car.

The Coyote engine weighs less than 50 lbs more (closer to 30) than the 2.3 turbo and makes a lot more power (460 hp/420 lb ft) from the factory. It also has a lot more performance potential than the 4 cyl. Really no compelling reason to go with the 2.3L. Ford doesn't make the Focus anymore and that's not a bad thing. Mustang v8 time on the ring is faster than the Focus RS too (7:58 compared to 8:06). The v8 will also still be working long after the 2.3 is worn out.

There is no comparison between the V8 and the Ecoboost. But I drive a mildly tuned Ecoboost, it's reasonable and fun when I need it to be. It's been said, but the concept of it being more like an s13 descendant does it more justice than comparing to V8 cars. I would love a V8 car, but as a middle class car guy, the Ecoboost just makes a lot of sense on multiple levels.

Have you ever heard of the Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway where all the manufacturers do lap times to compare them to other cars? Well the 2020 EcoBoost HPP has a faster lap time than the Mustang GT 5.0.

Niiiiiiice video. As far as track day- turbo. It's a lighter car and should carry speed better into and out of the corners. As far as every day driving, V8. Comfy, solid engine, no tricks (naturally aspirated), and, dammit, it's one of the last generations of the mechanical muscle beasts. Love them both. Think they kick serious arse. Was surprised at the results. This video must've been a blast to make. Thanks!

Great driving! All around the chassis on this gen Mustang is very impressive. The V8 is just amazing but I live in Southern California where our self-serving politicians and our President have really hiked up the price of gas. The irony is that we have some really fantastic driving roads over here. Because of that, for me and my money it would be the 2.3 High Performance Package with the Handling Package with a 6-speed manual. I think the 6-speed manual really suits the character of this engine and the money I save in gas means I can drive more. Also, I don't know if there is a difference between the exhaust between the 2.3 High Performance here in the States and in Australia, but the 2.3 HP over here actually sounds pretty good, and it does have crackles and pops. I am impressed so much with this car I am trying to add it to the collection. Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Good balanced review. I think at the end of the day the GT is the most desirable option, especially on the track. As a daily driver though the 2.3 might be more justifiable (albeit still a compromise) especially as the GT is such a revy engine whereby you can break the speed limit in 2nd gear (where the fun is). One would be tempted to shorten the diff in this case to enjoy more high revs at road speed. The useable low end torque on the 2.3 will be utilised on road. It's just such a pity they haven't nailed the noise of the 4 pot, maybe there's some good aftermarket exhausts around or opportunity to refine next ford upgrade as the did with the V8 in last update. Ideally the old 5 cylinder RS motor would have been awesome as the 5 cylinder sound is so unique and would of absolutely set it apart from everything else. I suppose that motor was retired in the focus for good reason ( prob emissions). Anyway great review would be awesome to have a "daily driver" comparison review to see if the gap between lessens, Cheers.

The thing about the ecoboost is, not 1 will stay unfettered with. You buy a COBB and JUST with the stage 1 with no other mods and the car is transformed. You do intercooler with just a K&N panel filter with an E30tune which is cheap as chips and the thing is near on 380hp and still much lighter. it really does put the engine part back above the Focus RS position and give the car that bit of character. WHich imo is not as much a charmer as the GT on the streets but something that you will enjoy more on track and on a windy mountain road. mid gear pull on a decent E30 tune will pin you back hard. very hard.

My LS3 is lower CoG and very similar weight to the F20C it replaces, makes many times the torque, double the power, lasts longer with bores not going out of round.. costs less.. easier to work on, is more efficient LOL Oh yeah and +30kg for that benefit (almost all in trans), retains 50:50, there is no downside.

Mustangs are born to be powerful. Can’t compare the barking 2.4 vs the roaring V8. Its like the Rock on extreme diet losing his muscles and then put him on a costume simulating his muscles. Engineers, you can’t made better what’s already the best. It is what it is. American cars are made to be powerful and thunderous, so…..don’t steal their soul. If you want to be creative, get a Ecosport and do something crazy. Mustangs, Camaro’s , Corvettes, Cadillacs and many others should remain V8. Other than that…..nice counterfeit cars.
