The wood is Basswood ..but you must have a sharp knife

By chance could you share the type of wood as well as the knife you are using? It slices beautifully through that wood

I use basswood from Heincke Wood on the web and the knife is a mike Shipley knife .. but it slices also because the knife is sharp ..

what degree do you sharpen you blade at?

The type of knife is a Mike Shipley knife you can get at The WoodCraft Shop on the web .. But you must keep it sharp ..

If I use 1 1/2” basswood, should I still use 1/4” borders or should they be wider?

you can use thicker borders in wider wood ..if you dont ..the ball will just be a little bigger
