Those robust mid belts stun me, even past her prime. That broadway style suits her voice so well. She was incredibly adaptive to musical genres that required holding well supported notes. She holds notes so well.

People don’t understand that her church upbringing helped to mold Whitney Houston The Singer. In the black church its so many girls who can sang on a extremely skilled and raw level. But Whitney took that and honed it and took it to lengths we will never ever see again. She can truly say she used absolutely every facet of her voice. She was the prodigy turned master. I wish she had grasped hold of a mentor or someone like Joan Sutherland or Leontyne Price and trained the skill of bel canto operatic singing.

Exactly how you described Whitney's voice.. She was truly annoited by God and man, only if she used her voice to save others that would of been just as beautiful. God is in her voice simple as that. The R&H's Cinderella is the movie that made me truly fall in love with Whitney as a kid, I'd knew who she was before as a kid and heard her music, but watching her in a Disney fairy tale (which I love) and the way she used her voice was so magical for me. She was so Angelic as the fairy godmother, still my favorite film of hers til this day, and preacher's wife after. This performance was just beyond amazing, she sounds practically identical to the studio/film version of this, it just shows how precise she was and could be when she wanted to be. Sidenote, this performance always gets me emotional but the point she does at the end with the handkerchief before the final note always gets me 😅, it's classic Whitney.
