ᴴᴰ Whitney Houston - FULL Vocal Range (1974 - 2011)

Музыка

THE VOICE! Whitney is my favorite vocalist (Alongside Ms. Mariah Carey). She has the most amazing head voice, runs, belts, etc. She is the blueprint for many African American singers today. She crossed borders and reached out to all races.
Her range spans 3.8 Octaves from C3-A6
Low Notes:
C3, C#3, D3, Eb3, E3, F3, F#3, G3, G#3, A3
Belted Notes:
Bb4, B4, C5, C#5, D5, Eb5, E5, F5, F#5, G5, G#5, A5
Head Voice:
D5, Eb5, E5, F5, F#5, G5, G#5, A5, Bb5, B5, C6, C#6, E6, G#6, A6

She had the best mid belts in pop industry. Her mid belts were not only loud and powerful. They were supported, resonant and vibrant. Also, they're pleasant to the ears. Unlike others who try to sing as powerful as they can, yet they're screaming and damaging people's ears #sorry. She also had the best head voice. They're heavenly! R.I.P Whitney. Gone but not forgotten. 💓💙

I explained it's not fair to compare whitney to Dolly Parton either. Just because of one song . Both were great and vocally they had a 5 . The same exact voice range. The difference between them were the time periods. Dolly Parton was country but she and other musicians at that time like Etta James. They told stories when singing there songs . Women weather your black or white. Wasent allowed to be loud that was showing off and vanity . Women of rock was controversial. Women like Janis Joplin and Tina Turner took a heavy beating by the churches because of there style of singing.

I love whitney Houston. But her vocal and musical capabilities are over rated . Shes not even in the top 10 for her vocal capability . Everyone thinks her voice is bigger than Dolly parton's..? But actually they have the same vocal range. And comes to writing songs. Whitney co wrote all 7 of her songs with someone. Whitney had 10 number 1 hits . 4 of those were covers of other songs. That had already been number 1 hits. It's hard to destroy what's already been number one ! Unless your just a bad singer ? So did whitney make dolly Parton song better ? No because it was already number 1 twice by dolly . Whitney only braught the song into the black community. So now both races love the song .

The D5 @ 4:46-4:50. That was well out of her prime when her voice was on a massive decline, and she was still able to hold that note and with some great power. I was listening to it while i was looking on another page, so I thought it was in her prime. Then when I looked, it was far out of her prime, when her voice was in bad condition. 6:41-6:46 are my favorite E5s of her ever! 7:36 F5! Yes! 8:07 F#5, YES! G5 @ 8:10. 8:31-8:33 G5! Always loved her G#5 and A5 from "Wanna be Startin' Somethin.'" 11:12-11:15 always love that operatic like G5. Love her B5 and C#6 (the 1st one). Head voice queen, and her belting was sublime.

Whitney dedicated her whole career to her vocals and while Bey is one of the most amazing vocalist in music history she really pays little to no attention to being a vocalist. Tyler 'MJ' Carey No I didn't mean it that way of course she cares about her instrument and she's always perfecting it but what I'm talking about is if she really cared for being a vocalist the way Whitney did. Then all of her albums would've been like "4" you know can you imagine if she sang on"I am sasha fierce" or "BEYONCE" the way she did on '4" we probably would've gotten exposed to many crazy dimensions of her voice that we didn't know even existed. I mean she hasn't belted anything above F5 in studio since 2011. Of course she's belted 2 G#5's 3 or 4 G5's and about 50 F#5's in the past 4 years but that's live. I really want more crazy studio records but that's not the topic. What I'm trying to say is that She doesn't consider herself "THE VOCALIST" she see's her self more as "A Vocalist". Whitney/Mariah/Celine/Brandy/Xtina/J.Hud all worked for one purpose and that is to be called "The Best Vocalist" Beyonce doesn't want that. She wants "The Best Performer" a hundred times more then she wants the title vocalist and from the way she speaks some time it kinda feels like she looks down upon people who don't have the Total Package she says allot that she never wanted to be called the girl that can sing she always want to be above just a singer, which shows she looks at vocalist who only depend on being vocalist as less then say people like Tina Turner/Michael Jackson/James Brown/Prince. Those people who were known for more then just being the amazing vocalist they were. That all I'm saying If Beyonce put more effort into just showing off her vocals as a vocalist the way Whitney did all the artist in the world would've probably retired. Because who knows what she can do 100% because that what she;s given as was never her 100%,

Whitney Houston was on contralto lists for identifying voices based on resonator frequencies. The type of voice was understood as the pitch of the voice, its tessitura, and not the timbre. A contralto with an additional resonator from 3500 Hz and above can sound like a soprano. A typical Whitney's resonator is 3000 Hz, with additional 4000 and 8000 Hz. Frequencies tipical resonators and voice type: 3000 Hz contralto, 3200 Hz mezzo, 3500 Hz soprano.

I couldn't tell your an A5 from a Bb4 but as a layman I must say that I think where she excels better than all other singers is her mid range voice. It's powerful, beautiful, and most importantly crisp. Most singers now and few before sing with a whispery voice that is annoying and amateurish at best. I realize she has amazing upper and upper registers and control too.

+Paweł Ziółkowski yes it does. Belting is when you bring your chest voice up past the passagio and mixing begins as low as the 4th octave for many singers. You cannot physically belt without mixing as mixing is natural. If you don't mix (ie basically force your chest voice up) then as you ascend you'd flip into falsetto of head voice.
