White Guy Shocks Kung Fu Master with Perfect Chinese
Ойын-сауық
Today I had the opportunity to meet a real life 34th generation Shaolin monk in NYC’s Chinatown to practice kung fu and Chinese with! Shi Yan Ming trained at the Shaolin Temple in Henan, China for decades before coming to New York City to teach hundreds of students, including many famous celebrities.
He taught me lots about martial arts, life, and Chinese, and in the end I totally got my butt kicked! I really enjoyed my day with this kung fu master, and if you are interested in training with him you can check out the USA Shaolin Temple website here: usashaolintemple.org/

His name is Shi Yan Ming, a 34th generation Shaolin warrior monk, teacher and actor, best known as the founder of the USA Shaolin Temple. Trained at the Shaolin Temple in Henan, People's Republic of China (PRC) since the age of five, Shi Yan Ming defected to the United States in 1992, before opening the USA Shaolin Temple in Manhattan, where he has taught hundreds of students, including numerous celebrities. He has made various media appearances in television, film and print, including National Geographic, PBS, History, Time magazine, and the 1999 American samurai action film, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. And he happens to be my Sifu (Kung Fu Master) back in 1997 when I studied under him of Shaolin Kung Fu.

I am so happy you introduced this topic into your channel. I have trained in "martial arts" for 16 years and Kung Fu for 10 years. I can say without a doubt it saved my life in many ways. My point here is to address the worldwide ILLUSION that Kung Fu is somehow "inferior" to "mixed martial arts"... This could not be further from the truth regardless of the numerous examples of so called Kung Fu practitioners being made fools of by MMA challengers. Let me make a critical distinction between a so called "Master" or run of the mill "practioner" of Kung Fu of which there are many that have not TRULY dedicated themselves or even come close to the capabilities that are afforded to anyone who dedicates themselves to this "deadly" (not a sport) art. Anyone whom tries to compare MMA to Gung Fu pertaining winners and losers has already lost the argument. Kung Fu at its core is solely meant to DEFEND against singular or (in most circumstances) multiple opponents. Kung Fu teaches and trains you to evade if at all possible any situation that would involve violence but simultaneously trains the body and mind to DESTROY your opponent with LETHAL movements and power that not only deter additional attackers but gives a mental advantage overall in such circumstances. To compare a "sport" to a lethal art is where I believe many in the MMA community have dropped the hypothetical ball. Kung Fu practitioners who respect life and the never ending quest for knowledge understand this full well while the bravado of the "martial arts" community haven't a clue of Kung Fu's potential devastation as well as it's sole purpose of longevity. God bless brother.
That was really really fun to watch!!! So awesome🔥💪🏾
This is my favorite of your videos, because I am a black belt and instructor of Chinese Kenpo. I have seen this sifu on tv and KZread. It is a great honor to work with him. You should keep training with him.

@Libtards Suck I have Punjabi family and friends, don't appreciate the negative comment

@Libtards Suck "blech" is hardly feedback, which is the comment I was referring to. Your opinion of Punjabi not being one of the best languages is subjective, for me it is one of the best due to my circumstances of being able to converse with my family and friends in a second language. All for opinions being shared on the internet, I just don't agree with yours in the slightest.

The man LITERALLY cares but not that you can speak any level of any language, and that's why he said all those things at the end which confused you 🤣 I love seeing someone so dedicated. He's amazing!
That was intense, you did a great job! I didn't realize flexibility was such a large part, but it makes sense to have it be so. Thanks for the video, and best wishes to you!

Omg, what a once in a life time, privileged experience! I am so happy for you and so thank you you shared your amazing experience with us! You are lucky that you were able to shake hands with him too. As a woman, we can not because of the energy exchange between energies of the genders. What a blessing to have seen this this morning!
