couldn't wait took that part out and unfroze it and it works. I am ordering a new one but for the next few days we gonna use it . this washer is 2 1/2 years old and has cost me a new one in repairs . when it was a year and a half old one of the four carriers broke and dropped the tub and flooded my house ruining all laminate flooring in Hall and den . Contacted whirlpool and they said they were not going to even consider sending some one to look at it. The girl said that whirlpool would not even entertain any assistance with the problem. Thought we were back in Katrina when we came in the door it was horrible. Thank you so much for your video I can't tell you how much it helped

This video is excellent! I have the same washer and had the problem that it wouldn't spin. I followed your instructions to diagnose and I ordered the exact same part. I replaced it exactly as you showed and followed your instructions on calibrating it and it works perfect now! This actuator must be a very common problem and I thank you for the great video on how to replace it and recalibrate the washer. Your video and help was perfect !!!!! Thank you!

We have a Maytag Centennial washer, which seems to be almost exactly the same as the washer in the video. I also get an F7E1 error code. The washer will fill and agitate normally, then drain. It never refills for a rinse/spin cycle. And at some point after the agitate cycle, the lid lock light begins to flash. Problem I am having is that both the automatic and manual troubleshooting steps all function properly so I can't pinpoint it down to one specific faulty piece on the unit. What is the driving factor in determining that the Shifter Assembly is defective?

I replaced the part as shown but on test mode it still doesn’t spin. It makes a humming sound instead of actually spinning. Could it be a different part not letting it spin.? The belt is still good also. What else could it be?

do you have a video for replacing the transmission gear case on a top load washer for a whirlpool he washers I have been trying to find one and all I can find is one with a agitator. My washer has no agitator so I don't know how to remove the basket/tub to get to the transmission gear case. All the videos show removing the agitator first but like I said I don't have one in my washer

Do you have a chart or can point to the right direction on how to read the error codes in the first place? So I am one step back. I am not asking like “what does code F1 or E9 mean”. I am asking, how do I know what code the blinking lights indicate to even begin? When in diagnostic, first the first 2 lights blink, then the last to lights blink together. Have no idea what code that is. Whirlpool model WTW5000DW. Thanks

Hi Coach, I hope this helps, but the codes are in hexadecimal. There are 4 LEDs that increment in a binary manner. In the first half of the error cycle, the octal code represents the F Code. In the second half of the report, the LEDs present the E Code -they flash alternately. Binary means 2 (On or Off). If you put 4 LEDs in sequence, you can count them up to 16. If the 4 are all OFF, then the decimal 0=hexadecimal 0000, 1=0001, 2=0010, 3=0011, 4=0100, 5=0101, 6=0110, 7=0111, 8=1000, 9=1001, 10=1010, 11=1011, 12=1100, 13=1101, 14=1110, 15=1111. So when the F Code flashes, use my reference to convert the LEDs to decimal. Then do the same with the E Code. I hope this helps somebody. The code list is online. Ron T

Whirlpool upright washer Mod# wtw5000dw1 The issue I'm having is washer isn't spinning for a long time it keeps shutting down then repeats the rinse cycle again does it three times. Then it goes to done. Then my clothes are still wet. So pretty much it tries to spin then when it hits the spin cycle faster it shuts down and repeats the rinse process again. It does it three times. Then it goes to done. Also I noticed drum likes to bang against the side of the padding in the washer. When it spins just a little. James From Michigan

@@jetboy770371 yep you got the same problem I had. When it goes into spin mode the basket won't spin so the sensor doesn't detect the basket moving. It will repeat the rinse cycle three times then it will say it's done and your clothes will be wet. I finally found out the problem( 1) the basket bushing is blowing out so the basket is not tightly on the shaft no more so the basket will wobble when spinning. You will have to replace the whole basket for $300. Then it will put stress on the washer drive hub that's connected to the basket with 4 stainless steel screws. Washer drive hub has small gears that matches up with the gears on the shaft that makes the basket spin. The plastic gear on the driver hub wears out because the basket wobbles putting stress on the plastic gears making it pop. If you replace part number w10396887 washer drive hub kit. EBay item number is 193476789121 for $13 plus shipping your washer will spin and it would work for a while until it wears out again. Depends how much clothes you put in it. The weight of the clothes does it. You cannot overload those washers. Not worth replacing the Washer basket too expensive. So I fabricated a brass bushing. To put inside wash basket. That gave me the right ID for the shaft for the basket won't wobble. Had no issues with the washer ever since. You can buy the brass bushings at Grainger.

@@jetboy770371 yes you grab the thing that spins in the middle hold it firm. Then grab the wash basket and rock it. If it rocks back and forth it means that the bushing in the basket is bad and the wash drivehub bad too. If you replace just the wash drive hub the washer will work fine until that hub wears back out again. Then again the wash basket might be fine and just the Hub needs to be replaced. It's hard to explain in words I will have to show you. Send me your email and I'll send you pictures of what it looks like.

My washer has been out of commission for like 2 weeks now. I had a technician come by and tell me it was the computer module, I bought the part for around $200 and the thing still doesn't work... I can't take back the part cause that's their policy. So I kept searching videos online and replaces my dog tags or whatever there are called in the agitator, still no luck. When I turn the machine on it fills up, I close the lid and it engages the "wash cycle" then the machine waits a bit and tries to spin. It spins once or half a fill turn and stops, it tries to repeat the same process and nothing works. Please , please someone help me. I'm so fed up with this, I had to go to the hospital get my forehead glued shut because I was trying to take the agitator out try to get the dogs loose and the thing hit my in the face with alot of force while pulling the top piece from the bottom piece. Please someone help

Teamdigit1 It could be the coupler or clutch that is worn out/broken. They would prevent the agitator from spinning (turning) even if it fills and has power. This depends on your unit though as some with a direct drive motor (no belt) are attached directly to the tub so have less parts to wear out - LG uses this method.
