Loads of whites have always been my favorite in a machine like this because of how clearly you can see the lower agitator through the rinse water. I loved when my mom and I would gather all the white t-shirts and socks and underwear and get it started in our KitchenAid because that turquoise agitator was mesmerizing to watch under the water. Not to mention how beautiful it sounded and the smell. It was a magical time. I hope I can get the KA I just found restored to this condition and relive a piece of that time, even for just a few years.

You didn't select Extra Rinse. It's included as the default on Whitest Whites, probably because bleach is expected. Softener releases in the 2nd rinse when Extra Rinse is selected.

Hello Glen. I knew that, I just had forgotten to deselect the extra rinse, like you said. Btw I often refer to your Catalyst cycle chart you made.

You were lucky to find this model. These are extremely hard to find. I had a hard time finding the one that I did, I had to drive out to New Jersey to get it.

I know. I am just glad it popped up under my favorite local appliance shop. He worked with me and gave me a good price on it since the front has a small dent. I pulled it out of service yesterday so I can clean/inspect the internals a little more.

I wish the machine didn't force lower speed agitation on lower water levels. To a point, I sort of see why it does, but still, I think it should be the user's choice. Curious, which water temperature is used when the bleach and softener gets dispensed?

I agree, but I do have a fully mechanically Kenmore 90 series that does that :) It’s tap cold

I'm gonna say a word that hasn't been used in years but that washer is "Da bomb!" 😊

Could you do the quick wash cycle with the catalyst on with a small to medium load

Honestly I just asked myself this earlier today and I really don’t think it does. I can see it maybe making a difference if your clothes were heavily soiled and maybe you used it with the soak option but pretty much everything else no
