Lyrics:
To the flowers.
I’m staring out myself,
Scared of all I can’t feel
And I’m dancing on the edge,
Punching at the doorbell.
Try not to wake the neighbours now.
We’re all high as the gods
And as low as the demons but she’s alone.
I’m saving it for best,
Taking all the sentiment
And starting at the end,
Pain in single measures.
Try not to wake the neighbours now.
We’re all high as the gods,
And as low as the demons but she’s alone.
We’re all going
Down, down, down,
Down, down, down.
We’re all going
Down, down, down to the flowers.
I miss the optimist who told me I need nothing,
Who said the consequence was equal to the moment.
I wish for the start while I pray for the end.
Let’s take it all for granted, I know nothing’s gonna change at all.
I miss the optimist who told me I need nothing,
Who said the consequence was equal to the moment.
It’s closing time when they turn up the lights.
Let’s take it all for granted, I know nothing’s gonna change at all.
It’s too late, nothings gonna change at all.
Nothing gonna change at all.

I didn't realize till my fifth time watching that he already crashed his car in the lake and the movie theater is him watching his life flash before his eyes there are so many layers to this video. Including the burning piano which is was her passion and him burning it to get rid of the memories. Plus the opening of the video is him arriving back home from his near death experience to embrace is (I'm guessing) mother. Hence the soaked clothes. This is the most polished music video I've seen in a long time.

In little above five minutes, this band manages to encapsulate the full spectrum of human emotion, from the depths of despair to the heights of ecstasy. It's a testament to their skill as artists, their ability to tap into the very essence of what it means to be human and translate it into music that speaks to the very core of our being.

To everyone, including their own stories in these comments: thank you, sincerely. Even sharing these have a great impact on helping people know they're not alone. I've been taking care of my mother for the last 2 years, through cancer, the death of my father, & now a sudden brain tumor. I'm 25, put my career on halt, & have been the most alone I've ever felt through this. It means more than I thought it would just to hear all of your stories & attitudes. & thank you to While She Sleeps for providing such an artistic conduit.

My sincere condolences for the loss of your parents to cancer. I understand the profound pain and sense of loss you are experiencing. While I did not suffer from a brain tumor, I lost my mother at the age of 26 and my father at the age of 27. I empathize with your feelings of being utterly lost without your parents. I hope you find solace and peace during this difficult time. If you are open to spiritual practices, I found that prayer provided me with a sense of comfort and strength.

I understand, you're not alone. I visit my dead son, Spartacus aka "Sparty". Spartacus forever took a piece of my heart and it will ache till I take my last breath. It's hard to visit my baby son at the cemetery but I do. And I always remained strong even after losing him. I didn't numb the pain with drugs, alcohol, sex, food, work, exercise, or the terrible internet. I dealt with it and faced all the emotions and got personal help, and I thank God always for the strength I have. I honor my son by being stronger and a better person every day. I honor my son by being strong for his little brother he now has and my husband. It's okay to have emotions and it's okay to be human. U keep your head up. Bless you. And bless your little angel. My angel son is doing greater things beyond this world and I know yours is too. I lost Spartacus on October 26 of 2022, he was perfectly formed and a lovely weight but a stillborn . His little brother was born on October 26 2023! Same day, baby snake. 😇. I was treated pretty bad both my pregnancies mainly by my own family especially. My husband was the only one truly there for me and I'm still greatful. Smile because he's proud of u and I know mine is too. Pain is privilege to a warrior 🙏.

I discovered this song yesterday while driving back home from my band's concert. Played it on repeat for 4 hours straight while crying over 'us'. She was sleeping in the passenger seat and I barely pulled my thoughts together while gripping the steering wheel. We've had this kind of relationship for the past 5 years... last month, she decided that she wants to move forward and be 'just friends'. Two nights ago I lost all hope; all the talks & changes couldn't fix 'us' this time, she's really serious about it. 'Just friends' feels impossible for me right now, as I still have so many feelings left for her. She was my best friend and the only one I felt comfortable sharing every thought with. Today, the only thing I'm sure about is that without her, I can't feel anything but 'down'. Tomorrow, I'll be moving back to my parents place for a while... I only watched the music video this morning and it's exactly how I pictured 'us' on the road back home. Incredible composition, outstanding acting. Thank you While She Sleeps. I hope it doesn’t sound cheap; turning to Jesus will not suddenly ease all your pain, but, He is the God who created you, and He crated you for a purpose, and that is to be in a relationship with God, to worship and serve Him. It's beautiful in everything it could possibly mean to any person. But...for God's sake, give Sean his credit on that freaking lead work. Always incredible. There's always hope guys. Even when all you want to do is curl up in a ball, and cry for a minute before you have to get up to do life. Everyone, be well. Its hard sometimes, but it's always possible. Speaking from someone who's lost a child in the late stages of pregnancy, I can say it's one of the hardest things to come back from. Not many people do. It's taken my wife and I almost a year and a half to get back to "normal." I can only understand so much not being the one who physically went through it, but the pain runs deep. Be there for them even if sometimes you're the one that has to absorb a bit of that pain. Hold them closely and know its neither of your fault. If you dont hold each other up, then one of you could drown in the sorrow. Live for each other and the future. Go through the process as long as it takes. It won't be easy , but you won't be alone.. There's always a brighter tomorrow ahead after the darkness.

My last longterm relationships were drowned in a drug addiction, both were struggling through many mental issues, but loving each other from full heart. I had moments when I was afraid of a possibility to pass out due to unreal doses we were using. I remember this episodes when I felt doomed by an addiction and in the end we were in a toxic but addictive relationship. In the ending road of this nightmare I was too close to commit a suicide. This pain was something more powerful and at the same time the regrets... Now I can control myself, we broke up and I am developing myself in many things and I got a will to live. Just want to let you know, even if there is an episode where you think there won't be a brightside, continue fighting

Lovely song. Smile because they're proud of u and I know mine is too. Pain is privilege to a warrior 🙏.

A die hard is someone who likes something and basically has to try to hate that tjing not to enjoy it. You could just say "I really liked this band's earlier stuff, I haven't enjoyed them recently". Instead you have to try and pat yourself on the back for enjoying a song. Half of every band's "fans" fucking suck. Derive whatever meaning you want from that.

I don’t think I’ve EVER related to, and have ever had a video describe my life and how grief, anguish, guilt, and shame causes such a domino effect… I could literally FEEL the grief, the guilt, the anguish, and the shame in every single event that had unraveled in this video and I don’t think I’ve cried this hard in a minute. It’s so hard to describe what grief feels and looks like, and there’s different ways and reasons people grieve. If I could use a song and video to describe the amount of pain and heartache I have felt this past year, I’d use this video every single time. You guys are fucking amazing. I've watched this video 20+ times in the last 2 days & each time there's something new to notice. This time it was realising why he's ringing out his t-shirt at the start 😢 The lost art of music videos is needed for the very reason that is this masterpiece. We all take our own subjective message or meaning from a song, but a real, powerful video like this conveys so much about the thoughts behind the words & the notes. It helps reach that extra realm of potential of connecting deeper from band to fan, no matter where in the world. Their heavy songs hit in every way imaginable live, but some of their songs driven by the suffering that comes with feeling are so emotionally profound that they cry out for an alternatively artistic way to portray their story such as this. What a song, what a video, absolutely beautiful #youarewe
