Lyrics:
Rationalize
Mix truth with lies
It’s all black magic
Mixed with bad habits
Oh, isn’t it tragic
I’m a patient
Going apeshit
On the fourth floor
In the psych ward
I’ve been baptized
Franchised
Americanized
And I’m left here wondering why
I built my house on sand
Hoping it would stand
The storms that come my way
And now I’m left to face
The weight of my mistakes
And a chance to start again
Oh, oh
Build my life again
I’m compromised
Wage war on my mind
Feels good on the dark side
It’s all black magic
Mixed with bad habits
Oh, isn’t it tragic
I’m a patient
Going apeshit
On the fourth floor
In the psych ward
I’ve been baptized
Franchised
Americanized
Left here wondering why
I built my house on sand
Hoping it would stand
The storms that come my way
And now I’m left to face
The weight of my mistakes
And a chance to start again
Oh, oh
Build my life again
Oh, oh
Build my life again
Hey
I’m a patient
Going apeshit
I’m a monster
An outsider
It’s all bullshit
It’s all bullshit
It’s all bullshit
Tear it down
Oh, isn’t it tragic
Oh, oh
Build my life again
I built my house on sand
Hoping it would stand
The storms that come my way
And now I’m left to face
The weight of my mistakes
And a chance to start again
Oh, oh
Build my life again
Oh, oh
Build my life again
Build my life again
Build my life again
Build my life again

That Breakdown broke my face... 🔥
I've listened to rock, alternative and pop punk for many years, but could never quite get into metal. It always felt too angry to me and I couldn't really comprehend the emotion behind it all or the artistry behind it. Over the past few years though (pretty much since the lockdowns started and I was left alone with my thoughts and feelings for a bit), my regular old music didn't really do what it used to do for me. I oscillated constantly between total numbness and extreme anger at the world and life in general. I never felt joy anymore. It reached a fever pitch after I lost 3 family members within the span of 6 months. At that point, I wanted nothing more than to get the anger OUT and not feel so damn alone all the time. I'd always been a very shy kid and feared thinking in this manner meant I was bad and that it was my moral obligation to just put on a brave face and keep going. That's where metal came into the picture. I don't remember when exactly it happened or what song it was, but a metal song was recommended to me on KZread and I listened, really to the genre for the first time. Something about the music video really resonated with me, so I gave the music itself a chance too. I ended up going down a rabbit hole of suggested songs and saved a few to a playlist. I was initially still a little apprehensive about it, but I kept coming back to it, because it was the only music that resonated with me at all anymore. Metal served as an outlet for all these negative feelings and encouraged me to pay more attention to my mental health. Exploring the metal community, I found myself relating to these other people a lot and at that point in my life, connection and a feeling of belonging was something I desperately needed. Listening to metal, I was able to feel again, if just for short whiles at a time. I started listening to more and more metal and enjoying it immensely. I can say that today, I'm a certified metalhead who can listen to just about anything. My mental health is in a much better spot and I've started attending therapy, which has been extremely beneficial to me. I also started taking better care of my physical health, getting into weightlifting (sound tracked by my metal playlist, of course). I've made a bunch of metalhead friends and a few of us are considering picking up some instruments and forming a band. I've retained my core self that I've always been (which I'm incredibly grateful for), but I've improved my life in so many other ways. I credit a large part of this change in lifestyle, perspective and emotional maturity to metal, along with the things metal led me to (therapy, fitness, community). I always think back to the original few bands that acted as my gateway to this world and appreciate them so much. If I hadn't found their music then, I do not know whether I would still be here today to type this message. Slipknot, iwrestledabearonce, Spiritbox, SeeYouSpaceCowboy..., While She Sleeps, Knocked Loose, Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, Wage War and Bad Omens all hold a very special place in my heart and I always get a smile on my face when one of their songs come up. Now, to the reason for this very longwinded comment: Two bands that featured prominently in my playlist that I haven't mentioned yet were Nothing More and I Prevail. This collaboration is brilliant. I think this has genuine potential for metal song of the year. It carries special significance to me though, because it's the product of one of my favourite bands and a member of my other favourite band. You guys have me sitting here grinning like an idiot. I'm so incredibly happy to be listening to this and feel incredibly fortunate to be alive to hear this. Thank you for this song! I love it so much and couldn't have asked for a better surprise to come across my feed 3 days ago. I've had this on repeat since launch. you guys likely get thousands of comments stating similar things, but please know that you guys make a major impact in peoples' lives and we are grateful for that. Rock on, fellas \m/>.

@@bondvabond messages like this are the reasons why i still always check the comments here on KZread. It became therapeutic and necessary for my mental health during the pandemic since I live in the sticks of rural Idaho and my circle of people had become almost non existent (coincidentally, at the time, I was experiencing the loss of many people in my life; friends...family...and the woman I thought was for me and the mother of my child...) I fvcking love Nothing More, America is so lucky to have them to herself. Can't wait for another UK tour and Jonny doing the screams to this song live ngl, that will be even better than this masterpiece of a collab!

Absolutely the hardest song I’ve listened to so far
Great song/video
If awards like VMA are still worth something, this video would definitely deserve an award.
I really wish the spotify version included that interlude; that switchup from calm to amped after "Let go" is bone-chilling good.

The references and nods in their lyrics are peak. The expansion they made on the biblical iteration of the ones who built their houses on things was really intriguing
I think he's allowed to never wear a shirt since he makes such fucking amazing music.

I don't think I've ever seen a shirt on him 😂
Why does the music video have a unique intro??? I want this on my spotify
The last minute and a half are absolutely killer 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Nothing More was the first band I ever did photos of in my career as a concert photographer. In many ways both myself and NOMO has evolved in our art. This is insanely good. Cannot wait to work with the dudes again!
Yes, another banger to use for workout motivation! And an extra plus that they've sampled another Alan Watts quote into this!

They even showed him in the intro I’m pretty sure!

@@TannerSingsSongs Yeah, it looked like an AI generated picture of him.
AI slop intro aside, Nothing More has a unique aura about them that always made them stand out from the rest of the modern alternative metal bands. Respect. Great tune.

This song goes crazy
When it comes to big and catchy rock hooks, Nothing More does it better than pretty much any other band I know.
Follow Me and let the dead bury the dead. -Jesus
Been LOVING this song since it dropped, so good. Sadly can't say the same about the video. Not the biggest fan of the AI stuff, I find it ugly and in that uncanny valley most of the time, and the flashes during the band parts really hurt my eyes. But that intro adds so much power to song. Super pumped for the album drop!
i dont know why but i cant get enough of this song, great lyrics, great video. well done
I saw this band perform in Texas a few years ago and I can't wait to see them live again in the future. I absolutely love their music, it has helped me through so much in my life.
Dayseeker + nothing Moore please
why tf did no one tell me about this band before?! better late than never I guess..
Every song they make is just right it's crazy
never heard of these guys before but holy fuck, its heavy, its atmospheric and the chorus is almost making me cry, This singer is amazing

They got one song that will literally make you cry. It's the last track on the album that has the song "jenny" (which is also a sad af song). This band is incredible

@JalimRabeikkkkk I mixed up albums. "The stories we tell ourselves" album. For some reason I thought Jenny was on that one. 😅
Love how they don’t spell Eric’s last name😂 I wouldn’t want to either
Man this video is so unbelievably good and the song is even better. I just pre-ordered the album, can't wait for it to drop.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG OMG
