    Great video. I’ve been experimenting with vane noise and found that with my rig setup lower profiled, 2.5-3in left helical produce lower decibels. It’s awesome that the hunting population is now focused on “string jump” and determining factual ways to lessen the snap-zip of arrows.

    I'm a fan of all the Bohning products from the nocks to the vanes & other accessories. I use a Bohning Multi-Fletcher tool. All my arrows r Micros & I use a 90* four vane pattern. I used to put the Bohning X3 2.25" on the shafts I've made. However I wanted to try the 1.75" X3's on 6 Blackeagle shafts I made up. These shafts were 250 spine which made them just a little heavier than my 300 spine Victory VAP TKO's. I cut the Blackeagle shafts 3/8" longer due to the spine. Both arrows r shooting & bare shaft tuned the same out of my setup. I am very happy about the durability, quietness & overall accuracy @ all lengths. My components are all the Valkyrie Viking Centerpin system & I match grained them to within 1/2 of a grain to each other. The Blackeagle's r a little heavier but also fly true. I hunt & practice from a 🌳 so that last 10 yards b4 impact is what I'm going for with quietness. The flight & penetration is more than most would expect from a long draw shooting a poundage just under 65.

    I think the Fusion is the quietest coming and going, that's why the waveform was the shortest. By time it hits the target it's too late, the sound volume no longer matters. But I agree that in how you rated them the Fusion was the loudest. Just hope you hit what you're aiming at the firs time. And yes, I shoot the Fusion X-II vanes and really like them all around, super easy to glue and very durable with great flight. Thanks for the comparison, very informative.

    Higher pitched vanes indeed will travel faster as far as their sound goes meaning that vane will push its sounded faster to an animal than a lower pitched vane. So the lowest pitch combined with the lowest peak and shortest duration of time in the recording will be the quietest

    Great review. I would like to know if the vanes make any difference in the arrow speed. I fletched one arrow with TAC vanes and shot it with the rest of my arrows and at 60 yards it consistently hit about 10cm higher than the others. This could make a great difference in the distance I can get on my sight tape with only a fletching change. Maybe a test you can considder?? Would love to see it.

  • @infectedoutdoors

    @infectedoutdoors

    3 жыл бұрын

    It definitely could. The TAC vanes are super light compared to the others on the market. So the lighter your components are the faster your arrow will be. It’s a speed difference that might not show up on a chronograph but next vane battle we do we can sure add it to the review!!!

    Your scale is only accurate to 2 grains, that means one tac could be 5.1 grains and read as 6 and another 4.9 and read as four. You can see this again when you measure 3 broncos and they come out as 28 but one is only 8. In reality they are probably more like 8.7-8.9 grains each. So whats my point? Well the Tacs might be a lot closer in weight tolerance than this video suggests. Having a scale only accurate to 2 grains when you are measuring things that only weigh 6 grains isnt enough. Great video though but would like to see the mass portion redone with a more accurate scale.

    Man, that one took a lot of work and time. Some interesting results on the sound levels. The TAC vanes would be so much better if they would have a wider base. Seriously, what's a half a grain or even a whole grain if it made it easier AND a better mount. IMO this and the cleaner/special ? adhesive crap is just that-CRAP! AAE has that same BS in their sales pitch but I tell everyone to just wipe the vane base and the shaft with 91% or better alcohol. Then use Gorilla brand instant glue. I VERY SELDOM LOOSE A VANE!!! No sense in buying their ridiculously priced stuff.

    Tac's f'n suck to fletch.. period !! ... almost every arrow, one vane will have problems with the rear staying down.. I used a Grayling/right helical (similar to a Bitz) and did every thing as shown by Levi and Lancaster using the Tac pen and glue, I even tried light pressure on the jig (didnt help), I prepped the GT Velocitys by roughing up with brown scotch bite and wiping with denatured alcohol which I always do with my Blazers, .. nope, at least one Tac will not stay down ... Ive used Blazer's for many years and NEVER had problems, plus I can use my AZ Mini Max with 'em and get a great helical .... so, I just ordered a pak of Gold Tip Fusion X 2.75 which I CAN use with my Mini Max and have the wider base which I like, which Tac's dont have ... if anyone has a suggestion with those Tacs, let me know ...
