    Some good testing. I ran the TAC vanes all last year, but this season have been very disappointed with them. The TAC vanes get very easily mis-shaped and have been throwing off my groups. I am going to be ripping them off and going to the AAE max's. I was already in the process of making a video on this and thought i would see some other peoples opinions on them. Great video and testing.

    Hey thanks! Obviously the grouping was not very very accurate, because I was shooting with inconsistencies, but I definitely feel confident saying that both group close enough to the same, will steer a broadhead well, and are almost identical in sound levels. The only difference is the weight (minimal), and DEFINITELY ease of fletching. TAC’s aren’t the most fun to fletch! Lol Thanks for watching!!

    I’ve spent the last dollar I’m gonna spend on tac vanes. I’ve fletched a bunch of them and some stick, some don’t. I wish I had all the wraps and time back that they’ve made me throw in the trash. Heck, I have had 3 vanes stick perfectly and then the 4th won’t. Start over…. Haven’t had that problem with the max stealths.

    I’ve sent a ton of AAE max arrows down range. Recently switched to TAC and am still testing. But so far so good. Not a big difference. But the durability is much much better. I use a Bitz left helical jig. Man you ain’t kidding about getting it to seat (tips ). I have to smash that thing down while applying pressure from below arrow to get it flush.

  • @BassBucksOutdoors

    Yea. I have to pull the jig off of my TAC and smash it down too. After that it sticks great. If I didn’t have to change my sight tape I would immediately probably switch back to the AAE max’s lol. I just had a buddy ask me to do his arrows for him. I asked him what he wanted and of course he said tacs lol.

    Thanks for watching! Yea, some of the greats in the bow world differ in opinions on the helical. Podium Archer and many others like a lot of helical, John Dudley doesn’t like a LOT of helical.. TAC actually recommends keeping it around a maximum of 3°. John Dudley just posted a video the other day where he shot a left helical, right helical, big helical, and small helical at 90 or 100 yards and literally put them all in a group the size of a baseball. The guy is incredible and a huge wealth of knowledge. I think the key is getting your bow tuned, picking a setup, and sticking with the setup while constantly working on improving your form. I do feel like the extra helical does bite onto wind more where a 3° wouldn’t be affected as much. I might try to test heavy helical vs light helical!

    In reality, how many people can shot well enough to see the difference between these two vanes downrange performance. The AAE VANES are so much easier to mount. I wasted money on the tack system. Too much time to prep them etc 4:06

  • @BassBucksOutdoors

    @BassBucksOutdoors

    9 ай бұрын

    You are 10000% correct. And that is exactly the end goal that I reached in this video. They work very well in my vane master pro, but do not work well with many other jigs. And require no more prep than the AAE max stealth. The only difference is the slight weight difference. I thought for sure that I would get a sound difference, but I didn’t. So for the majority of bow hunters, I would comfortably say to pick one you like better, and stick with it! No problems with either! And neither has an advantage over the other. 😊

    Great shooting, and I agree, the only obvious difference between the two is the weight. And even with that, you have to be past 50 yds before you’re gonna see any measurable difference in 10 grains. Now my question is: did you screw on a fixed head and see if one or the other was more consistent?

  • @BassBucksOutdoors

    @BassBucksOutdoors

    9 ай бұрын

    Not on the video..but I did today because of one of the other comments. They both flew the same. Now…with that said, my bow is tuned very very well. I don’t necessarily think either of them will steer better than the other, but if your bow is not perfectly tuned, I do believe there would be a difference in point of impact. Because the TAC is a stiffer vane, I feel like the arrow would plane and stabilize quicker, while the AAE Max Stealth is softer and I THINK the response time of stabilization would be a little slower and thus ending up at a different point of impact.. and if I’m guessing, I would also guess that the max stealth would still group well, just have a slightly different point of impact than a group with the tacs. My next upload is going to be covering the entire build of my arrows for this season, installing the inserts, fletching with TACs, weighing the arrow, calculating FOC, and also shooting them from 50-100 yards with a field point, and iron will broadhead, and a couple mechanical broadheads as well (mega meat and rage hypodermic no collar). If you have any ideas on things you would like to see let me know! I’m all ears and want to put out as good of content as I can that people are interested in.

    How do they fly a fixes blade broadhead. That's what really matters. And in hunting range, kinda like sound if your just shooting stationary targets who cares if they creat 120DBs and sounds like an earthquake lol. Also the deer are going to hear them regardless, stand about mid way down to the target and have your buddy shoot an arrow you can be 30+ yards off to the side at a safe distance, you'll hear them clear as day. If your mic is behind the arrow redo the sound with the mic in halfway to the target and pick it up, it sound completely different btw. And only reason I say in hunting range is for 3D there's way better vane choices, these are mostly designed for hunting purposes with some target. Kinda 75% hunting 25% target. With a feildpoint you don't need a longer tall vane, you can use a 2" and under and a 1/4" tall vane if your bows tuned properly. Do a 40yard test with fixed blades, shouldn't have to move your sight tape its only like a 15 grain difference between the 2 (all 3 combined) add rhe max hunters in and you'll appreciate how quiet some vanes are lol, but man they steer a fixed blade like no other, like having a professional race car driver steering it😅

  • @BassBucksOutdoors

    @BassBucksOutdoors

    5 ай бұрын

    Both of these vanes steer iron will wides great. Depending on if your bow is tuned or not. That’s why I didn’t focus on that. Also, I showed myself setting the mic halfway between me and the target in the video…. That’s where the sound came from. 15 grains doesn’t make a difference out to 50-60 yards. But at 100 yards like the end of this video, 15 grains definitely makes a difference. You will definitely need a new sight tape if you increase your arrow weight by 15 grains. Try adding a piece of tape that weighs 15 grains to your arrow. You will be amazed when shooting 100 yards. Not really applicable to hunting, but 3D? Definitely makes a difference and will need a new tape.

    You'll get better control of your broadheads with four fletch of a higher profile. I prefer the TAC vanes for the weight. I test with a lab radar, and can confirm that longer vanes have more drag than shorter vanes.

  • @BassBucksOutdoors

    @BassBucksOutdoors

    I can believe that. Personally, down in south Louisiana, we don’t really have to worry too too much about broadhead flight because in the swamp, most of your shots will be under 30 yards. Just so thick in those areas. Top pin city! But, I do have plans to go out west where longer shots are always in play and I also just like to practice at longer ranges.

    @@BassBucksOutdoors I'm in Kansas. I have a pretty good testing ground for arrow flight. In general, what works best in the wind also works best when you have flaws in your tune or your release. If you shake too much, torque the bow, etc. I had fletching contact with me rest for a year and had no idea because my arrows were that consistent and stabilized that quickly.
